That one is frustrated. The thread is just an outlet to vent. Leave her be.

You saw that too... cheesy

Her fingers could not even betray that inherent selfishness by typing the word arrest when it came to her brother.

That is their forte. Hit the nail on the head, no way!!! They can’t do that, because it will reveal their true and obvious stand- NO “PUNISHMENT” FOR THE RAPIST.

But if it were your brother and you were in the OPs exact shoes, what would you do?
Remember there's a lot at stake here:
- her brother stands to spend at least 15 years in prison.
- the OP could get kicked out of her matrimonial home (depending on how her husband decides to react).
- her immediate and extended family could ostracize her.
- there's the chance the OP might get some kind of punishment too for harboring an underaged child she's no legal guardian over.

In all of this, the victim remains the young girl and going by the way the OP treats her, she may eventually be kicked out sometime in the future for some flimsy reason. But can we truly say the young girl's life has been ruined such that she can never become a functional member of society again?

It's easy to say the OP should do this or that commenting as a third party but fact remains that most if not everybody would do something similar to what the OP has done and will not allow the law to take its course.

You are very correct. I will do just what OP did. I will even set him up, maybe take him abroad.

I wonder why we don’t feel so much pity for women who maltreat their helps. I like to think the beating doesn’t stop the child from being something great. We call for their heads, we rejoice when they get arrested.

But not on this one, it is just vagina.

Once again, you all that share this sentiment, una try well well.

Now This is the problem I have with most of y'all here in nairaland. You come online and be blabbing as self righteous persons but in reality y'all hypocrite. I can put it to y'all that non of u will arrest ur blood for such a heinious crime. Instead it will be resolved as a family matter.
I actually get what you're saying, I don't think you're saying he doesn't deserve serious punishment for the heinous crime, but that if we look at the pattern of Nigerians, the average would 'settle' it as a family matter or worse, sweep it under the rug. Nigeria's 'system' is designed in such a way that both allows and forces this kind of response. It's f*cked up and I wish that idiot would get the punishment deserves

I don't think the people asking for him to be arrested are 'hypocrites' per se though, they know how bad their country is and more than likely want justice, despite the system that's set up against this, but they can't exactly tell the OP to settle it with family...not that simple either

I wish these things were taken more seriously in Nigeria, it's so sickening, poor little girl. The legal system is just useless, especially when you don't belong to a certain social class

You didn't answer the questions I asked still, a YES or NO would suffice.

The woman that maltreats her help would spend say 2-3 years behind bar if found guilty but a rapist spends at least 10 years and I think it has been increased to 25 years even. Both crimes are not treated by the law similarly even though by your own admission, they are comparable and should elicit similar outrage so you'll understand why the OP is doing what she's doing.

I swear! Goto police stations and c constables "settling" cases of domestic violence! Its not as if some women or men (as the case maybe) were silent until death but the system stacks up against them.

In d sector i currently work, when a power thief is caught and handed over to the police for possible prosecution, before u know it the guy is back on the streets at the same game! U hear something like "E no kee pesin na, no b small hanging e do. Abeg free am!"

We all know the OP wouldnt turn her bro in n her posting this issue here was to justify her intending evil act. So i wont be a party to that!

Nobody can predict what happens to the child. The kind of life she ends up living would depend on the support system she has around her, luck and how she reacts to the event. You can't say for certain that being a victim of rape has ruined her chances of living a fulfilling life.

This is getting interesting! So the rapist and his accomplice shld definitely live a happy n fulfilled life? What kind of luck r u referring to here? That she would meet a yahooboy or sugar daddy who wld spoil her with money? From the OPs narration, do u in honest mind think that poor girl has a decent support system? She stays in a house where she's assaulted for even crying and further assault for trying to say the truth? Do u think that was d first time d girl was bn battered? Dont u realise that the OP's wicked maltreatment of the kid myt have influenced the rapist bro from hatching and implementing his rape plans? The system is heavily flawed.
Poor person hardly gets judgement.
It will be explained away.

But as for the sister, she will never hand her bro over.
We are Nigerians. The day we start doing things like that, Nigeria will become like Norway grin

But, hey, we are among the most hypocritical on planet earth grin.

Brother is far.
Open your mouth and tell somebody your husband raped your daughter or househelp first without thinking of how it will affect u as a married woman first grin

Lots of cases of married men sex escapades are covered and settled by their wives. And they move on as nothing happened. grin

See this lady, she will send the poor girl home and kill the matter. If tomorrow, her brother is caught outside doing the same thing, she will deny she dont know her brother is like that grin
My brother is a good man grin
What came over him? grin
Haaaa shocked
It must be the devil or the girl tempted him grin

Will you say it's totally a Nigerian thing? Even in the west, the number of rape cases is so much less than actual convictions. Like in the US, 1 in every 6 women has been a victim of sexual abuse but convictions are a lot less.

1 in every 6 women in the US has been raped. The numbers are not as high but I'm sure you'd get similar numbers when you compare with every other type of crime committed in Nigeria.

You know reporting an individual to the police in Naij is different from demanding justice according to the law of the land.
