Very good list. Also the guys have dissected it well and made some good points.

Eguavoen made me sad in 1994. He was tall, quick, rugged but didn’t have the best decision making.
Yobo and Equavoen played the same 3 positions (RB,CB,DM). I go with Yobo.

Mine:

.........................,.......Rufai..........................
....Yobo......Okechukwu.....Taribo.....Babayaro..
................................Oliseh.........................
..................Odegbami .......Okocha Amokachi.........
.....Finidi..................Yekini.........Amuneke.......

I know Odegbami was a RW but had to fit him in there somehow. That 1980 deserved a shoutout LOL. He was the best player in a Nations Cup winning team(our first), scoring 2 goals in the final against a team with Belloumi and Madjer.

The first half of Okocha was a showboater but the showboating reduced towards the later part of his career.
Oruma at his peak was probably a much better fit for the national team but he was criminally sidelined for Okocha, partly because of the fans.

I like your list but don fit in the bull inside. cheesy cheesy

Etim Esin inclusion is a joke and has been addressed. The guy barely had a senior career.

Lol i no fit fight you over that.
But I view Amokachi as a striker so he needs to move forward to go and struggle for shirt with Yekini them.

When I consider the longevity of Okocha’s career in the team I can’t bench him for someone who was really a striker.

In a 4-4-2 maybe Amokachi enters as the strike partner to Yekini, but I can’t put him in as a midfielder.

The only guarantee on this list would be Yekini. Almost every other position is debatable based on your age and style preferences.

No. Yekini and Odegbami scored more.
And stats aside, nobody who watched Yekini would dare compare both.

Then starting a match with Yekini was like starting the game 1 goal up.

You're right

I lost interest in Nigerian football so many years ago. I can't even name any of our current players not doing okay in Europe. I still remember a couple of our matches at France 98. Any other competition after that, I can't remember.

Lol.

Odegbami won our 1st nations cup. Scored twice in the final. 2nd top scorer all time (despite being a winger).

Yekini won our 2nd nations cup. Top scorer in 2 nations Cups. All time top scorer. Scored our 1st ever World Cup goal.

Yekini is undebatable.

Who told you this? Chairman of defence was the best player. Odegbami was just the highest goal scorer of the tournament, with 3 or 4 goals.

Both were our best players of that era, why i put them in my team.
