Is Nigeria getting weapons to fight bokoharam or modernising it's arsenal because this is unfair to bokoharam gun trucks cheesy
The only advantage this has over rpg 28 is range and accuracy. The rpg 28 has same armour penetration and significantly cheaper.
It is really commendable and would help taking out technicals kilometers away.

Taking a very expensive sledge hammer to kill a fly, doesn't make any sense. How much is one ATGM even as Chinese made cheapest will be around $35k, what is value of one of those rickety run down rusted pick up, maybe $400.

Poor strategy if you ask me.

Wanted to reply you but when I saw the full length of your comment I was scared to read it. It’s very tucked hot here in the Far north and am tired.
But here are my takes; in terms of precision weaponry the Su25 does not even get close to the tucano, likewise avionics, ISR capability, cost of maintenance and its endurance time.
Starting from next year the Super Tucson will be replacing a lot ground attack assets especially for the S.O.F in the Middle East
The super tucano is a game changer and a beast for ground target should fear.

I am sorely disappointed, you have been a contributor here for a very long time.

My approach was methodological and substantive and quite specific, but you have not addressed one question or observation i made, you have just EVADED.

Its your choice.

You even go on to make future projections but founded on nothing, let me burst your future projections.

THE FUTURE in the Middle east is UAV that can give special forces Over-watch with 48 hour endurance and still deliver precision ordinances. Not the outdated A29, not even one USA Middle east partner has procured it. That should tell you something.

Sorry your approach is far from been methodological. It’s not my choice, the Super Tucano is the best COIN air assets we’ve got in the world . Soon in the Middle East the tucanos will take of the skies.
Now kindly give me just two drones you know that would stay in the air for over 24hours and with payloads to carry out precision strikes, you just show you don’t know what you’re talking about.
If there is any future, it’s with the Super Tucano which can carry out ISR missions of over 10 hours and variety of payload of precision strikes which the drones can’t carry.
Dude don’t be disappointed in me cause am human, you’ll disappointed yourself already with your comments.

OMG
Who be this, So destroying a technical with an AA gun that'll otherwise kill and maim valuable officers and soldiers needed on the battlefield 'doesn't make sense'?. How about the many hundreds of thousands/millions (dollars) invested in training, courses abroad, field experience that would be snuffed out if one technical isn't stopped or destroyed?

Guy, be honest, who do you work for?

If only we can keep up with procurements like this, $1billion or more every year from ECA, but embarassed
Our neighbors are getting more aggressive and rude, particulary cameroon, and it is because of the support paul biya get's from france. Having a modernised military is the key to letting france know that we could decide to remove those puppets and nothing will happen because the french won't be able to project reasonable force within a short period in west Africa that will harm Nigeria.
Cameroon's armed forces is just a little above 14,000 personnel, chad;35000. And to think this puppets are already facing unrest in their countries.
Imagine cameroon sending men to arrest seperatist leaders in Abuja! All because of a few Exocet they were given by France.
I know it's fantasy though sad

I do agree with most of what you wrote, I said it before as well, to say the US couldn't defeat the Taliban is silly.
But i also wouldn't call the loss of over 2,400 US military personnel in Afghanistan minimal casualty, that's a lot of dead soldiers

With 775,000 deployment that's 0.3% KIA, I challenge anyone here to provide a better stats for a similar conflict in modern history.

Oshey.......Keyboard commandos!!!!

They won't see this.

When presented with facts, @Komken and his buddies....

There is a trend that's growing which is far from progressive, where animosity is spread against anybody who is not in agreement with your view.

Then some take it further to cast aspersions on those with different views.

That's very retrogresive.

I don't know if it is a cultural thing because we can even degenerate into religious and tribal negative divergences.

A media report is not a FACT.

If contributors can be substantive and present thier positions with clarity and rational methodology. Then move away sentiment based deductions that are without substance. That will help.

We have two different sources of events the NA saying, something different from the Chadian forces.

Who will you believe is a matter of objectivity without sentiment and what you want to believe.

We have one force who have in the space of one week, completely uprooted BOKO from thier axis of Lake Chad.

And another army the NA who have not been able to remove Boko from the Lake Chad area for years. Almost tacit acceptance that Boko has come to stay unabated.

When Chad was first invited into Nigeria 2014/15 they uprooted Boko within weeks, something we could not do for years.

These are well established independently corroborated facts. Bitter too many it's not unpatriotic to state these simple facts. We can learn from them to deny them, is to live in self deception and live in delusion.

I don't want to get into unnecessary argument the issues at stake are too important.

Yeah I just thought I should share, guys here always talk about the Nigerian military incapacity to coordinate ops through comms, its nice to see that NAF have been capacity building ground forces since '17

What does it take to CO-ORDINATE a mission it requires 100% connectivity of all combatants to ensure command and control.

Coordination of air assets to ground targets after being painted with lazer for precision strikes is what gives you overriding advantage.

What do you notice about modern armies every combatant is linked in.That gives complete spatial awareness and the ability engagements to be directed and positioned for the best advantage. Making it possible for a unit of 12/15 men to engage 100 create confusion and overcome them.

Are all our combatants linked in with individual comms for control and command, NO.

How much will it cost to do that and effectively increase efficiency by near 100%

In total around 80 000 SANDF soldiers were deployed during the Border War and the casualty figure was officially 1791.... I used 1900 in my calculation

Thus = 2.2%

And if we use 30743 as in your example then the figure is

=5%

Edit the 0.03 was a typo on my end
