efia and local variety.. kotonu pepper
I guessed as much, the crop vigor is poor, when doing a commercial farm like this with expensive irrigation equipments it is best to go for proven seeds, don't be surprised to see shombo, chili, jalapeno, even bell pepper in that local cotonou pepper, you really have to boost the farm with chicken manure and fertilizers,it is dark now I could have shown you pics of how a vigorous hybrid pepper looks like

Please can I get answer to the following questions

1. Please, has anyone planted Sunny F1 pepper here before?
2. Please what the the recommended spacing for Forever F1 pepper and that of Sunny F1 pepper
3. What is the production like for Forever F1 pepper and Sunny F1. Also, like How many bags (size of bag indicated) should be expected per acre or number of crops.
Thanks

Please can someone help with answers to the above questions. These are chilli peppers. You can also provide yield answer for local chilli pepper. Thank you.

This effect of whitefly infestation on my farm

I've noticed hybrid seeds have larger vigor .. but what about the production of the local rodo?? both efia and local opv are btw 70 to 77 days old today, even the local opv seems to have larger vigor compared to the efia.. even though the efia plants are a week older compared to the local opv....

in production I cant say which is better btw both at this time

honestly I myself think the growth of efia pepper plant is slow... especially in the nursery stage.. but I stopped bothering myself since you said thesame thing,

wont it be best to allow the market determine what you plant?? I'm aiming for local markets in ogun state or any market not dominated by northerner in ogun state where I'll have to compete with their big sized pepper.... markets like arebajo, ifo and ilaro.. I've heard stories where sometimes biggers rodo will sell less in price compared to kotonu rodo.. as the believe smaller rodo Is more spicy

this from the beginning was my mistake.. I've been focusing on bacteria diseases forgetting thyre also insects almost invisible to the eye.. the only insects I've been seeing in my farm are leave cutting insects.. so I assumed all is fine.. no need to be feeding my plants with unnecessary chemicals.. not until now
.
Lol. U are like me oo. But mine was focusing on leafhoppers without knowing that thrips were doing their job under the leaves. But thank God I've cleared them.

From my experience, pepper plant is quite tough and forgiving. Do as okoro said and give us feedback.

I think the best safety measures we discovered in our farm Is spraying a good systemic insecticide weekly,Many of these stubborn and mischievous pest are so small to detect easily and they also hide under the leafs to compound the problem, you may be deceived in thinking that all is well until it is too late,,they are the no 1 carriers of diseases,,weekly application will make sure that all pest that is stupid enough to leave to whole green leaves in the bush to bite my pepper it will be it's last supper

Heyah, sorry. I must have been really lucky on my farm then. As @okoroemeka said he sprays weekly, i fight my workers when they suggest we spray, if we don't see any signs of insects i don't approve their spraying.

The things i'm seeing are really scaring me.

1. Sunny F1 is a good breed.
A 50g tin will give you about 10 feedbag harvest twice a week when harvested green under good agricultural practises of manure, water etc

Yet to try the calculation of harvest with red harvest

2. Forever f1 fruits very well.
However it get rotten with increased rainfall.
It start to drop off from the plant and it starts decaying immediately

3. Plant population determines what quantity of harvest you can get per acre or hectare

I hope this helps

lol. I dont think you need to spray weekly maybe depending on the type of insecticides used.
There are many systemic insecticides but some are stronger than others. In my experience using chemicals, the most efficient are often the most toxic like the chlorpyrifos which some called the alternative to Sarin gas ( a nerve agent). In combination with dimethoate, nothing will survive on the farm including snakes, scorpions.
hmm, using those two products you just mentioned on a pepper farm is like using a bazooka to kill a grass cutter, many animals will even run away from that site including rodents and even antelopes.i personally will not spray such combination under no circumstances,it is simply too risky.

in summary, both variety are monster in production. Your care determine the yield. Scientifically, spacing is 60cm by 60cm and yield is 25 tonne per acre for hybrid chili pepper

aside the bad news.. a large number of my plants are bringing fort a good amount of food for their young age

Good job.

From all your expenses, did you think this your production is sustainable.

You should have nothing less than 5000 crops in your farm so far it's 2000m emitter you bought.

You need to be smart and have plan B in farming

I'm thinking of doing tomatoes on the other side of my farm.. i used not more than 2 and half plot out of an acre.. pepper takes too much time for it to get to maturity.. I currently have nothing less than 1200 stand right now..

but I'm currently trying to add new stands on the farm.. to make up for the ones I lost

You mean you need to spray weekly? Some of these chemicals stay in the plants stem for up-to 14 days.

I used that combination on some Agric broad leaf bitterleaf plant which is usually attacked by white flies and in a month, there was peace on the leaves.
