I know, but he could be so much more. It will be a tragedy if Tom Cruise retires without having won a single Oscar. If history is anything to by, it's near impossible for action stars to win Academy award for best actors.

Painfully true. cry

Guns Akimbo.

Had lots of laughs but unrealistic.

P.s Radcliffe did very well in the movie.

P.s mortal kombat was bloody as hell.

I loved the way the special bone shattering was shown in the cartoon. At last a worthy screen adaptation of the beloved game.

The Oscars is the crowning glory of an illustrious movie career. It's comparable to a soccer player winning a Balon D'or.

In reality there's has been many actors who haven't won an Oscar but have had a much better career than the ones who have...
Actors like Harrison Ford, Stallone, Cruise, Chan, will Smith, etc haven't won an Oscar but are known globally around the world than their counterparts who have....
FOR example Cuba Jr won an Oscar and went downhill after that..

The Raid: Redemption

Oh my... I spent half the time screaming. The fight scenes are f cking INCREDIBLE!! The most nail-biting is the climatic fight scene with Mad Dog. Long, bloody, bone jarring, grueling, intense but so entertaining.

Whew. 8/10 biko. I can't believe I've had this movie in my laptop for more than two years. Thank God for the lockdown grin

Everything you said is true, but you forgot something; legacy. An actor without an elite crowning achievement has no legacy.

Even though Cuba Gooding sucks right now, his name is in the history books. Hundred year from now, people are gonna talk about him, whilst Tom Cruise will be a very vague memory.

What's your top 3 Movie songs of all time?

Mine is;

1. Million voices by Wyclef for the movie: Hotel Rwanda.

2. See you again by Wiz Kalifa for the movie: Fast and Furious.

3. Home by Machine Gun Kelly et al for the movie: Bright
.

There might be other fantastic movie songs I cant remember right now.

What's yours?

1. That song by that red haired woman in the greatest showman

2. There was also one song in sister act part 1 can’t remember the lyrics I think they remixed a hymn

3. Window shopper by 50 in get rich or die trying

I feel I’m forgetting one important song I like so if I remember my no.3 is flexible

False. Tom Cruise will last longer than Cuba Gooding.

Even without awards, Tom Cruise has more culturally relevant movies than Cuba Gooding. Top Gun alone can never be washed away from history

If you're asked about North by Northwest, what's the first name that pops into your mind?

Mine is Alfred Hitchcock. I can't even recall the name of the lead actor, and I've seen this film twice. Old films are associated with directors more than the actors, bruv. Unless the lead actor was a larger than life figure of historical significance, for instance, Orson Welles.

If you are asked about Top Gun, who comes to mind? Tom Cruise.

If you are asked about the Matrix, who comes to your mind? Neo- Keanu Reeves

If you are asked about Avatar, who comes to mind? James Cameron

An actor can be remembered over the director and vice versa- the deciding factor depends on the popularity of the actor.

Can you tell me the director of Logan? No, but you will always remember Hugh Jackman as wolverine.

I said, "Unless the lead actor was a larger than life figure of historical significance", remember?

Right now, Tom Cruise and Reeves qualified, but will they still be relevant 100 years from now? I don't think so. Without important awards to remember them by, those two are gonna end up like that lead actor in North by Northwest.

Who remembers awards?

People remember cultural and iconic moments. From now till I die, I cant forget the Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) taking arms against the Alien. I cant forget Marty Mcfly's (Micheal Fox) Nike Airforce 1s in Back to the future. Those are iconic moments that will be revisited as long as the internet and digital libraries exist.

Well, I associate the first Alien movie with Ridley Scott, and the second Alien movie (it aged well too) with James Cameron. I associate Sigourney Weaver with these movies as well, but as a secondary.

LIES!! LIESSS!!!

Unless, you are one of the few people in the world that lack the ability to conjure up mental images, the first image that appears in your mind when you are asked about the alien movie is Ellen Ripley and or the Alien. Guy, don't fall my hand abeg.

It is like asking me about Total Recall movie. The first things that come to my mind- woman with 3 breasts, Schwarzenegger and that pregnant man-alien-child.

Wrong as usual.

When it comes to old movies, directors are my top priority. After directors, the dates come next, and finally the actors. This is how I sort old movies.

Yours may be different, but I'm fairly certain that I know myself much more than you do. Or are you clairvoyant? Maybe you're clairvoyant. In which case, you must be one helluva clairvoyant. Bravo!

Boyz N The Hood (1991) - 10/10

Boyz n the Hood is a 1991 American teen coming-of-age drama film, written and directed by John Singleton in his feature directorial debut, and stars Ice Cube, Cuba Gooding Jr., Morris Chestnut, Laurence Fishburne, Nia Long, Regina King, and Angela Bassett.

Boyz n the Hood follows Tre Styles (Gooding Jr.), who is sent to live with his father Furious Styles (Fishburne) in South Central Los Angeles, surrounded by the neighborhood's booming gang culture. It is regarded as the best gang movie ever.
The film is notable for being shot in sequence, and features breakout roles for Ice Cube, Gooding Jr., and Nia Long.

I watched this last week but I'm just reviewing it now. To read its Wikipedia bio, click here.
It had so much critical acclaim and it won so many accolades!

PS: It was John Singleton's first movie but he got nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director... at 23!

Pic 1: Movie Cover
Pic 2: One of the gang shooters (niqqa looks just like me shocked, WTF!)
Pic 3: A shot of my man, Cube with his homies in a low rider.

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DriggityDre: 3:13am On Apr 18, 2020
The movie is sad, considering the influence of gang culture on young boys growing up. Drive-by shootings, robbery, prostitution, and racism, to mention but a few.
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DriggityDre: 3:14am On Apr 18, 2020
Best character was DoughBoy (Ice Cube).
He fvcking killed it!
Pic 1: My man, Cube chatting them ho's grin

PS: Pic 2 is my respect to NWA as a fellow gangsta cool. You can go check out Eazy E's 1988 track, Boyz N Da Hood (if you're a fan).
