The way imf was warning Nigeria about too much debt few months ago, you will think they really care and will never approve one for us. However, they were only pained that Nigeria and Africa is turning to China instead of remaining imf slave forever. You will see how their narrative rhetoric will change digitally I only hope punch - PDP and their Ipob miscreants will be happy now when the Taskmaster imf come up with usual conditionalities meant impoverished Africa 9 Likes 2 Shares |

No reasonable persons or institutions should lend money to the Nigerian government. The money will be plundered before it gets here. I want those thieves to have nothing to steal. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

At least $1b should have been given out to citizens as palliative to sustain the lockdown for the next 1 month while massive testing is being carried out. But funny enough there is no plan to give out any of the money as palliative to the citizens, only plans to use them for phantom Civid 19 projects. The money will mostly be shared among the elite. Believing that they will use up $1b for projects to combat Covid 19 is giving Nigerian leaders too much credit. 6 Likes |

That's too much oo. The government of the day would embezzle it. Except there is going to be close monitoring like US did before releasing the Abacha loot which prevented part of the money from entering Bagudu, the Kebbi State governor's picket as largesse from the federal government. The first thing they should think about as soon as the loan is approved is a complete overhaul of our health institutions and construction and equipping of primary health centres across Nigeria. They must ensure they don't supply junks to equip those hospitals and no local contractor is engaged in building construction because they'd do a bad job as they do our road projects which hardly last 6 months. More doctors must be employed to add to the existing ones in the country because almost all of them have left the country. They should introduce a robust package that would prevent the remaining ones from seeking greener pastures overseas...but my question is...would they do all these with the money? I doubt. 4 Likes |

I hope this does not lead to an external debt crisis in the future, since the 90s ,we have experienced a decline in our industrial output and our export performance has not been encouraging, as a continent Africa has the largest number of mineral resources, and africa also has a huge population as 70 % of her population is below the age of 40. But with all of these advantage most African nations still depend on loan and aid to survive or to even make a meaningful budget,The annual income of Google is more than the total income of all west African nations combined,if Nigeria is truly the giant of Africa then the hope of Africa is really bleak .we have develop our human capital, intellectually and our values has to be realigned,The right values always creates value the previous Generation were Enslaved with chains, the next Generation should not be Enslaved with debts, it's time to think outside the box and to also live outside the box#God bless Nigeria# 8 Likes 1 Share |
