BREAKING! 2020 Budget: Senate Approves Buhari’s Request To Raise Fresh N850bn Loan

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to approve his request to secure a fresh loan of N850 billion to fund some projects in the 2020 budget.

He made the request in a letter read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday on the floor of the upper chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

According to the letter, President Buhari seeks to raise the loan from the domestic capital market to ensure adequate funds to finance projects in the budget.

After the letter was read, the lawmakers gave accelerated approval to the President’s request to raise the loan.

They also asked the Senate Committees on Finance and Appropriation to liaise with the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, to get more details on the loan request.

How many people observed that in the 2020 budget, out of the projected N10 trillion for expenses, approximately 25% of that (~N2.5 trillion) was earmarked for debt servicing? Please note that due to the fall in oil prices, the budget has been reviewed lower but the debt servicing component will either remain constant or even go higher due to exchange rate dynamics.

Unfortunately, the country is now vigorously borrowing more money while the revenue base is shrinking. If oil prices do not improve significantly over the coming months, do not be surprised to see debt servicing accounting for 30 - 40% of FG 2021 budget.

Damn! we are now prisoners in our own country. These greedy MOFOs locked us up in our houses & told us that if we go out or go to our work places, corona virus will kill us.
But now they all went to Abuja to approve billions of naira to share among themselves + to collect their sitting allowances, Corona virus will not kill them Abi??
What happened to all the Billions of Naira donated by EU, AU & other bodies?
