kabe1:you see, the problem is that they don't come in all at once to request a permanent base. most of the tucano deal involved infrastructure, weapons, training and support roles. this roles would last for sometime. the details of the contract state "Under the contract, Embraer and SNC will provide ground training devices, mission planning systems, mission debrief systems, spares, ground support equipment, and alternate mission equipment. The contract also involves the delivery of contiguous US interim contractor support, outside of continental US (OCONUS) contractor logistic support and field service representatives for OCONUS support". you know that foreign military personnel usually starts with foreign contractors. remember that US presence in Somalia started with 50 personnel. all those logistic support would take a while, and since we paid for it, we wouldn't be suspicious about it. also I don't think Nigeria has much experience with guided munition. I don't know if the alpha jet bomb strikes are done with guided bombs, but I do not think so. so there is a high probability that foreign contractors could be here for sometime, and it could translate to military personnel. lastly, the kainji airbase extension is for what reason exactly? 1 Like |

kabe1: The thing about you is that you are very one-sided in your views. And that is a limitation, to be honest. The real issue is Why should we have contractors all the way from US just to build a hangar or extend a runway? Did the Chinese build a hangar for our F7NI, did the Pakistanis build for our Super Mushak, did the British build for our old jags, did the Russians build for our Hinds? So what exactly is special about a propeller aircraft that needs US contractors in our military base. Besides have you ever lived abroad, what do you know about the Oyibos? Do you know that they even hide under the guise of immunization to try new vaccines on Africans. That's why I rarely comment on this forum... smh. 2 Likes |

Tobiloba2407: Nigeria bought the highest spec of the VT-4 tanks. Ours is the most expensive at over $5million each because it is Full options with added enhancements, specified by our armoured experts. I can confirm that ours is Far higher that the Pakistani version. Don't ask my source, just take what I said. The choice and specifications was done by the Ministry of Defence; so this is not a crap army procurement. There are loads of more contracts that are not even public, including the Future Nigerian Frigate program, that is top notch. 6 Likes |

Public Service announcement!!! In light of recent events, I'm forced to make this public announcement. This thread is not defence headquarters, it is not the office of the NSA and it's definitely not the President's office. I am not the army chief or the chief of defence staff, neither am I the President. So please don't ask me questions or refer to me like I'm the top brass. Thank you all for your anticipated cooperation!! 3 Likes
