Ehen? You think those lunch boxes on aradu are empty? I know the navy destroyed some missiles, they were the ones on board the FAC, that have been removed long time ago, we don't have any new missiles, because of threat projection doesn't call for it......the problem with aradu is the hull and propulsion system.....the weapons, well I'm not sure all....can fire from the shore.....but taking it on combat patrol, is out of picture.

Haha, you want to disgrace yourself. In this Aradu refit, the initial plan was to remove all missiles on Aradu and replace them with ..... go away joor.

Nigeria has no missile vessel... lol... that is like an army without bullet.

Attack Nigeria and see fire. You would not believe the kind of missile that would hit you.

For your info, the Nig Navy is the deadliest armed of the three forces.

Sorry Wiki is not a reliable source. NNS Thunder or one sister ships was upgraded with Harpoon missiles. They were long range patrol cutters of a Super Power and were sufficiently armed.

lets don't mix wishes and facts

it took USA 4 years to upgrade the USCGC Mellon (WHEC-717) a Hamilton-class high endurance cutter same like NNS thunder from 1985 to 1989 during cold war with soviets, and one more year to finish fire tests . and it was the only Hamilton-class who get the harpoon . the program of upgrade of the others was scrapped in 1992 and they even the antisubmarine warfare capabilities of the cutters was removed after the end of cold war . the mighty US industry took 5 years to upgrade it , and you are telling me that nigerian shipyard will do the same in hours only ?

here some logic questions , try to think just a little about :

- do you have even Harpoon SSM missiles ?
- do you think USA will sell you Harpoons ?
- buying chinese , russian missiles ? will they sell you ? will they upgrade them in nigeria or in there shipyards ? do you think its easy to adapt -Chinese , or russian systems on American ships?
- will the americans even let you make modifications on their ships? with Chinese or Russian experts? the thunder was sold to nigeria under the excess defense article policy so there is end-use restrictions for them .

so lets be realistic , the only way for nigerian navy to get SSM its to buy new ships with this capacity or major upgrade of the P18N OPV's with C802 ssm like benguladesh version , in china , and it will take many months maybe a year or two , nigerian navy dont have SSM capacity now .

Haha, and the only way the Nigerian navy would get anti-submarine squids is to buy ships with that capability. Lol . We had squids but never bought it with a ship. We have many stand alone weapon systems acquired independently of ships.

It took US 5years to upgrade the ships, lol. Biafra built bombs, rockets, refined crude oil, developed a currency, etc in 3years. So we can rightly say Biafra achieved more than US in 5years. But that is wrong comparison. The real question is- how urgent was the upgrade done by the US. America has over hundred ships and shipyards are always busy. So your comparison is inappropriate.
Nations build new ships in 3years. So your 5yrs upgrade is very untenable.

I stand by my position- the Nig navy, in adverse conditions, can fit missiles on its ships and rush to fight. War is not luxury. Am not talking of peacetime. I mean, when under threats of fire.

It is amazing when few people tell you what Nigeria navy has and don't have.

The world never knew that we had anti-submarine squids and it was never listed or mentioned in any defence publication. An enemy navy like @jln115 thinking we have no missiles, would send his submarine to harass Nigeria. And get sunk. Smh.

Apart from the number purchased, what I also find surprising is that the UAE is the largest manufacturer of armoured vehicles in the middle east.

Why do they still need to import from the US?

Ahah. I didn't mention SA navy. I never did. @jln115 said repeatedly here that we have no missiles. So i was using the Squids as an example of what we don't have according to @jln115.

Pls bro your IQ seems quite low. Am sorry, just an observation.

You don't need to know. There are weapons are extremely classified.

Nigeria's Otomat missiles have been destroyed.

I thought you said you know more about Nigerian military than me. But you still think Nigeris uses old Otomat missiles. Abeg swerve.
So if they are classified how would you know?

When did I say you dont have squids?

Secondly :"In July 2016 the NN completely destroyed its stock of weapons. The weapons include Ottomat Missiles, Seacat Missiles, Aspide Missiles, Anti Submarine Rockets, Torpedos, 500Ib Depth Chargers, 375mm Anti Submarine Squids and other high caliber munitions"

why dont you try to put on your comments more facts and less empty words and wishes ?

the fact is now days nigerian navy dont have any SSM capacity ,
the fact is even when they bought in 2012-2013 the P18N OPV NNS Centenary, unity , they choose a downgraded version for 42 millions dollars each , the benguladesh navy bought the same year , versions of the same ship, the BNS Shadhinota with C802 SSM , FL-3000N air defense system. lack of money , lack of will ?

the fact is that nigeria as a big power country in africa is very late in military sector and if nigerian navy needed SSM urgently as you say , that mean a big fish is attacking you , and that mean that your ships will be sunk in less than a week at max with zero resistance , they will not let you 3 years to develop artisanal bombs like your exemple of biafran (ps: your artisanal bombs its nothing special even small terrorist groups done it ) .

New-Zealand doesn't have a fighter aircraft fleet, do you know why?

If you know why, relate it to Nigeria.

Generally when you make assertions you should provide some sort of proof. Pictures or a link to a reliable or even unreliable source.

Been reading and wondering when there would be proof of the missile capability of the NN.
