Forget technology. Bitcoin is simply a store of wealth due to scarcity and wide acceptance as a digital currency.

I'm not an IT guy but the technological use of Bitcoin as a blockchain ledger has been rubbished since 2016. It was simply viewed as a currency which fulfills the most important characteristic of a currency ie scarcity since there is a finite amount of Bitcoin that can be mined. So any investment decision you make must be made in that context. For example, when people are dissatisfied with conventional stockmarkets eg during this Coronavirus, they switch their holdings from Conventional stocks to Gold, Government Bonds and Bitcoin.

Almost every coin released from 2017 to date was built on the Ethereum blockchain which was seen as technologically way superior to Bitcoin but again, even though it was used for creation of tokens, the technology underpinning Ethereum does not quite deliver fully on the promise of a decentralized public ledger which is why they seem to be working on what they call a hard fork, which will be a different token altogether eg Ethereum 2.0, same way the current Ethereum token hardforked from Ethereum Classic token in late 2016. Ethereum though has an unlimited supply and can be mined forever unlike Bitcoin so is not a store of wealth (currency) like Bitcoin. If it cannot be harnessed as a technology, it will disappear in the long run, unlike Bitcoin which has more long term guarantee as a currency for people to trade across borders without fees or for people wishing to hide wealth from Govt etc

OK, lemme rephrase instead of saying technological flaws to say it's utility as a piece technology is limited to use as a currency, as opposed to Ethereum which is used across many applications.

As an investor, my only question is what is the use of a product and try to figure out the market for it, the economics that will drive it's price, and what value it brings to society. Am I right or wrong to conclude that Bitcoin is only to be viewed as a currency, and to be valued on that basis? Bitcoin is not really flawed (I consider flawed to be a strong word), however while Bitcoin was a fantastic proof of concept for a decentralized electronic currency, it was not designed with some features that we take for granted with regular transactions.

While it is near impossible to fake or hoodwink (the consensus system is that good), it is not equipped with the capacity for lightning quick transactions that we're now used to in this day and age.

Matter of fact, over time, Bitcoin transaction speeds will only get slower because for each ledger record added to the block chain, the next hash needed will be much more mathematically complex and require more time to compute.

That's the flaw I think he is referencing.
