The children shouldn't be burnt they deserve to be treated with care this is a different discussion on its own. The issue I touched upon was your claim that jinn possession or witchcraft is a thing of the poor alone which I refuted instantly.

All these jinn possessions are possibly psychiatric issues which are called possession

Abeg make we move away from juju topic to something else. It is rumoured that Kante is refusing to train till the pandemic is over or so.

Ask yourself this simple question.

Why was she cooking with mortuary water?

I remember one mama put like that, when I dey secondary school. While trying to get good meats for customers from the soup, she mistakingly brought out a thumb.

The thumb was actually the reason why her space was always crowded even though there were other vendors around her.

After that incident, she stopped selling. She disappeared!

Honestly, I don't know where I am on these stuffs (juju, voodoo, ghosts, etc.).

Space needed for 4 is not as big as for 10.

I can't live in a house with as many as 10 buried on the plot. My spirit doesn't flow with that. Cemetery is meant for such numbers.

There must be another reason for her selling well and not because of any juju. Maybe she switched from Knorr to Vedan.

Donjazet must have a reason. grin

Woke Association of Nairaland (WAN) will ask for video evidence....

Bro, juju is real.

My friend is still suffering from swollen knee for almost 7 years now, he went to show of @ his village after completing his successful trial at Porto team B,..
He woke up with that swollen leg, after seeing an old woman hitting his leg with a big rod.

The bolded is not true come in the North jinn possession is a common thing it affects the children of the rich and poor but cases of the former is often underreported because they hide it unless you're a close family member. They hire exorcists to exorcise the jinns.
Those are pure mental illness cases that need psychiatric treatment.

That's from first-hand experience.

I witnessed several Ruqyah (exorcism) sessions while in the university as a member of MSSN.

I have different literature on exorcism as well because I did extensive research on it then.

So, I'm quite knowledgeable on the subject.

Take this as a simple truth: There is nothing like demons in reality. Only those that believe in demons are affected by it. And demons only exist in their head (not in reality).

People with issues with their mental health (not necessarily mad) usually attribute such to demonic attacks, just like primitive people that wrote Qur'an and the Bible felt things like malaria, typhoid, common cold are caused by demons then.

(Well, some still have that archaic belief in this day and age.)

When a person has such mental issues, they could experience hallucinations, become paranoid about their relatives, spouse, or become depressed. There are worse signs and symptoms.

All these are treated in detail in the literature, "Sword against Black and Evil Magicians", by Wahid ibn Abdessalam Bali (it's one of my book collections).

That's one of the books Muslim exorcists use.

Now, what those people (with mental health challenges) need are diagnosis, counseling (if it's not a full-blown maniac case), and appropriate treatment.

Simply put, they need drugs (recommended by psychiatrists), not prayers to any god, not flogging by any alfa or using electric shock on them to chase out jinni (demons) that don't exist in reality.

Some of those patients treated by exorcists get well. Some die of electrocution. Females among them could get pregnant (from the male alfas that treat them).

The few that get well is primarily due to the herbal (prophetic) medicines they're given during the course of the ruqyah (exorcism) session.

Books like the one above and others like "the World of the Jinn and Devils" by Dr. Umar Sulaiman al-Ashqar explain in detail all these medicines such as Zaytun (olive oil), Habbatu sauda, black seed and its oil, and many others.

All these are herbs with medicinal benefits that work well without the need to invoke any god or deity.

Those exorcists are simply scam artists.

If an ailing person takes only the herbal drugs without any prayer, they will still work based on their level of effectiveness.

But if they only pray without these drugs, their mental illness persists and could get worse.

Try that experiment on common things like malaria and headache.

Those are things some of us that did extensive research about Islam, its concepts, and other religions generally did and know for a fact that demons only exist in the head, not in reality.

You need to research things for yourself and confirm many things in Islam to know if they're really as you're told in Qur'an.

Some people will believe lies for the most part of their life.

During my studentship in UI, I know of a mentally challenged woman that came around then for deliverance (ruqyah). She has a mania condition.

For years, her mom spent over 180k taking her from one alfa to another to seek.

Some of those prophetic medicines are expensive because patients need them in large quantities for prolonged usage (a month or 2); some of the drugs are imported from Saudi, Morocco, etc., and the deliverance services of some alfas are expensive.

Despite the high cost of the service, her condition only got worse to the extent that one of the alfas she visited got her pregnant, and he later ran away.

What later saved her? Medical science. That's what the mom should have done in the first place.

Taking the medical route, though not 100% perfect, still guarantees faster, safer, and more efficient solution for such mental issues and any health issues generally.

There are many other examples of such cases illustrating the wrong belief common in this part of the world, where people seek the spiritual means to treat ailment instead of using medical science.

Medical science has helped countless of people (especially older ones with old age diseases) to live longer.

If they had taken the spiritual route, they'd have died.

There are many jujus; which ones in particular? Some of them work primarly due to some plants (or other materials) used in making them. I think most are fake.

One researches about life's issues generally by reading books (of history, science, philosophy, different religions other than your own religion) and being pragmatic about things.

Demons only affect religious people. They don't affect atheists or irreligious people that don't believe they exist.

If evil spirits are real, many atheists and irreligious folks that don't pray to any god would have died. They wouldn't live long. That's just applying common sense.

But Stephen Hawking even with his condition lived longer than most Nigerians (based on the life expectancy of Nigerian males, around 55 years or let's even say 60).

We don't have many publicly known atheists or irreligious people in Nigerian history. The few that were/are popular also lived/live more than 70 years (Tai Solarin, Wole Soyinka, etc.).

Before you attribute that to the mercy of a religious god, know that religious people face life's challenges just like atheist and irreligious folks do.

But doing things ignorantly without recourse to science and pragmatism could make things difficult for some.

What affects anyone irrespective of their belief, race, color, is mental health challenges (not demonic attacks or possession) and normal health issues, which depend on a number of factors such as family history, etc.

Can you be more specific on the kind of juju you're saying?

There are several kinds of juju.

I have addressed this before, that some stupid_ people believe that killing other people or burying nasty filth in their home would fulfil their heart desires doesn't make it true.

They are partaking in such ignorant evil deeds because of the rampant ignorance that run amok in their immediate society.

If I ask you now to provide proof and evidence as the correlation between people partaking in rituals and it's efficacy on the wealth of the individual, you will crawl into your shell.

That people do nasty things doesn't mean it works.
