Your post unearthed some memories from my Uber experience in 2016.

Gush - I sure will not forget in a hurry.

Major lessons learnt for me are

1) In our country Nigeria, if you are not going to be on ground physically to monitor or supervise your business(regardless of the domain or sector), then forget it. Simply invest in low risk instruments and enjoy your interest BP free

2) A single regulation can change everything.

3) Regardless of how wonderful a business model sounds - push yourself to identify where the failure points are. Never be deceived into thinking any investment is risk/error free - because if you dont know the failure points, you wont be able to put plans in place to mitigate them.

All in all, the firsthand experience were good lessons but i honestly wont advise anyone to invest in the uber business unless the person will be driving the vehicle himself/herself to avoid stories that touch or better still look for trustworthy companies that can manage it on ones behalf.

Enyinne:
It was a sweet and bitter experience, even though i was able to breakeven after selling off all my cars and recoup my invested money ,its a terrian made for men as u will need to battle some drivers that are unwilling to pay up as at when due as most hv already sworn to tell stories immediately they take custody of the car.The cost of repairs and loss to accident is high which made the business quite risky . I managed the business for 1year. The grass is never greener on the other side grin Thats my lesson

I have never been a fan of transport business, it gives a daily or weekly cash flow, but the value of the asset reduces every year unlike real estate.

Why don’t you do the investment one VGIF fund for now? Since it’s giving over 8% or so? And won’t tie your funds down like bonds till when you need the money in 2 years time?

Sir I have never invested in a mutual funds, my concern is how liquid is this, I don’t want to spend 1 week on withdrawal of funds

Very true. You are spot on.

Then the unending dread whenever your phone rings...the pang of fear that it could be another call from your driver informing you of yet another accident by an okada hitting the car or a danfo crossing his lane etc.......The excuses are unending.

Even with the comprehensive insurance I took that really helped in situations such as this - I will definitely jump and pass next time.

I think what made a lot of us to get involved with Uber was that it was packaged as "beyond just ordinary transport business"

I think Money Market Funds are generally easy to liquidate - most companies that run them typically ask for 24hrs notice to treat your redemption requests.

I am currently subscribed to AXA Mansard MMF and United Capital MMF and that has being my experience with them so far - I assume the same treatment will apply to most Investment houses but for the investment arm you finally decide to settle with you should fact check with their existing customers also.

I am not the expert to talk on this. I think Emmasoft will do a better job than I, I hope he responds to you soon.

Though like the gentleman above has spoken, most mutual fund assets redemptions that I know are quite fast.

@LigitBitcoinBuy VGIF is a mutual fund in the fixed income category. the rate is 8.5% guranreed with extra 35% extra of funds gain. You have opportunity to reinvest your interest if you so wish. interest is prorated and earned daily but paid twice a year. You can read more on my earlier post on this thread and mutual fund thread. check my contact on my signature for chat or call and link to open account online.
To redeem mutual funds it's as easy as withdrawing your money from the bank. Though what normally is written on the prospectus is 3-5 business-day that is a regulatory statement telling you when an investor should raise concerns. The truth is that mutual funds redemption is in matter of hours if done before 12 noon on a businessday

Good day bosses and to the boss ladies in the house, I have been following the thread quietly for while now, I have come for your advise on a financial decision I am about to make.

I have 4m in my account and I am still trying to save it up to 10m to be used for a specific project in 2 years time.

While I am still hustling, I would love to put the 4m in a risk free investment that can earn interest from now to 2 years time.

What would you advise me to do? And based on your knowledge in the financial system where would you advise me to invest the money?

Thanks in advance

4 million!
...and you are still hustling more...
You want a free risk investment...
Your moniker says...

Why is my mind telling something? *just kidding*

You on track,You'll definitely get the best advises in here meanwhile i have been feeling skeptical about Bitcoins business however i am sure some can be legit...
Do you mind to school me plus many ghost readers in here about the biz...
Thanks buddy

I'm amazed at the wealth of knowledge given here for free. No one is stingy with vital information. Everyone is out to help everyone. Just pure cruise only!

This thread have become my favorite and I wished I've discovered it early. But still, better late than never. The arguments, and sometimes sarcasm, the respect and maintaining boundaries, the warmness of people here like emanuelewumi, Ukay2, ahiboilandgas, sholapey, theconglomerate,chigo4u,oluwaleokey, damilola1978, emmasoft, freeman67, etc is contagious, And I'm learning everyday.

God richly bless the contributors on the thread.

For short-term gains it’s all about knowing when to buy, currently it’s a good time to buy the prices are down to $8700 from $9500 last week, it’s very certain that the price will go up just depends on your risk appetite and how long you are willing to wait, you can buy now and wait to December it’ll definitely be above 10k or buy now and sell mid April when it’s back to 9k+ it just depends on your risk appetite and how long you are willing to wait.
And one other thing don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose.

Good morning fellow nairalanders. I must commend all the great contributors to this thread. I have been a guest for close to 2 years now, I must say that God has blessed me through this thread. Pls I am interested in the ungoing SUKUK bond, but I neither have a cscs no. Nor know what to fill in the custodian a/c . I also do not have an account with any of the banks being used. Also will I need to print out the SUKUK form to fill? Pls indulge me in my ignorance. How do I go about this? I'll greatly appreciate clear and urgent response. @Unite4real you seem to have some knowledge on this. Thanks

You don't need to have an account with any of those banks. You only need to transfer money from your bank account to those banks.

As for the cscs, you need to open one as quick as possible. Try Morgan capital or Afrinvest. You have little time left

Thanks for your quick response. But I do not know how to go about it. I live in PH. Can it be done online? Is the cscs compulsory. What about the custodian ac. What if I open an account with any of the banks listed, will that cover up as custodian a c or and cscs? Thanks again for your indulgence.

To add to @unite4real
Cscs can be opened online with investment one. Click on the link on my signature to do that.
Leave custodian account blank it's different from cscs.
CSCS is not compulsory but necessary and better for you to have it.
You don't need to open a new bank account for this purpose.

U can open the cscs account online. If it wasn't compulsory it wouldn't have been a requirement especially if u want your your allocation to be successful
