Visa fee is £348 for a standard application, priority visa processing costs £348 visa fee + £220 priority processing fee, super priority costs £348 visa + £956 super priority fee. Priority and super priority processing have faster turnaround than the standard processing. IHS fee to use the NHS is £450 (£300 per year + £150 for the extra 4-6 months granted after the course ends) for one year programs. You have to pay this online after you submit your application but before you can pay your visa fee and book your biometrics appointment. For a standard visa for 1 year programs, total costs in naira will be close to N400,000 (including IHS) depending on the exchange rate used. $ equivalents are taken from your payment card if it's not a $ card. It's for 9 months. If it's more or you have all you need for the 2 years, it's not a problem but it's not mandatory to have maintenance beyond 9 months. belovedtianah: 1 Like |

rs172: At the end all 3 will result in the same Visa.... so it now depends on how fast you want the visa . Before covid standard used to be out within 15 working days so if you apply in time then really there no point paying extra for the other types However if for whatever reason you apply late and need the visa asap then the other two options can be used |

belovedtianah: That placement years length is not factored in when you talking about maintenance fee. It usually a standard 9 months calculation. .. it only factored in calculation of how much NHS fee you will pay as that is related to the length of the program 1 Like |

Please are dependents expected to pay NHS fee too? And is total visa fee multiplied by number of dependents? I know some countries ask for statement of purpose or Personal statement. Is this same for U.K. study visa too? Thank you. LagosismyHome: |

Okay. I feel that the response from LagosismyHome was an apt reply to your questions. No one can tell you the best or most certain way for an applicant and/or dependant to apply visas because a dependant's visa application being approved depends on the T4 applicant passing the credibility checks and having satisfactory documents held in the manner prescribed by UKVI. At the end of the day, it all boils down to your personal preferences. 1. An applicant can apply with or without dependants as long as all the required documents are in order. The dependants' visa is hinged on the T4 applicant's ability to successfully secure a visa so if a Tier 4 student's application is rejected, the dependant's application will be rejected too. If you are certain that you've included everything you need in your application as a student and you're certain that you'd get it (except for an error on the ECO's part), go for this option. 2. This is entirely dependent on if the applicant wants to travel to the UK with his/her dependants. If for any reason, the main Applicant's application is rejected, then this saves the couple some costs as costs expended on visas are non-refundable with the exception of the IHS costs. This is a safe option if the Tier 4 applicant is having mixed feelings about the outcome of the visa application. 3. This option should be adopted if the student would rather go first to sort all the stress that comes with settling down. This also helps the main applicant (student) to explore the new town/city to make it easier for dependants to settle in. My own personal preferences would be no 3 as this would give me time to settle in without the added stress of looking out for my dependants while still trying to adapt to my new surroundings even though having familiar faces could help allay homesickness in most cases. Yes dependants have to pay the IHS too. The total fee payable for the visa+IHS is multiplied by the number of dependants but this is paid separately for each application. For your visa, you don't need SOPs or personal statements but you can address any issues that might not be clear to the ECO on your application using a cover letter. Personal statements are usually required for UK postgraduate courses. Yimi4real: |

Yimi4real: Since I am not a student I cant answer questions on statement of purpose or personal statement . However your question is not clear if you mean for Visa or for school application Regarding NHS fee... yes it per each dependants |

mimilyrics: Thanks for your response. I appreciate. What about if the main applicant is a female and will still need her husband to join her and support her. So that as d woman is studying and doing part time job, husband will be working full time. Do you still think option 3 is the best option? |
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 5:45pm On Jun 07, 2020 |
You only need to show the full fees for the first year (excluding any deposit/tuition fee already paid to the school) + maintenance for 9 months. You don't need to show fees for the second year. beldavis: |

It largely depends on personal preferences. The 3rd option that I would have chosen if in that situation, is largely based on trying to avoid the initial stress of settling in along with dependants. The dependant can apply immediately the wife's visa is out to cut the waiting time. The husband can start researching jobs available in the school and surrounding areas to make it easier to find a job when he arrives in the UK. Graceisallineed: 1 Like |

Just to add to this, If you decide to take this option(because the decision will be made by you and your family), and if you have kids ensure adequate arrangements are made if you leave them behind and to bring them over as soon as you settle in. All the best mimilyrics: 3 Likes |

Graceisallineed:To add to what has been suggested especially by Mimilyrics is that, It all honestly depends on you and your partner. We cant tell you what will really work for you. So you and your partner should discuss the options presented and settle on the one you deem best. Going to a new country for the first time can come with its own challenges even psychologically and emotionally. The feeling of loneliness, homesickness, culture shock, job search struggles, getting lost despite using TFL journey planner. A married couple can go together and settle in and explore at the same time and be each others keeper before the craziness of coursework, group discussions, part time jobs , night shifts et al set in. One can also take the lead, sort out accommodation , job and then allow their partner to join them later. So please discuss further with your spouse and see what will work well for your studies and marriage. All the best! 8 Likes |

Magdagascariens: You still can’t cheat the system because either ways, you’d still have to show the remainder via maintenance money. ![]() ![]() To me, I think the more deposit you pay, the better it is. |
