Lostz: Mr, you are not getting it at all Let me break it down for you to understand Let's assume you pay 1k for your ads to reach 10,000 people, now Facebook can either add like 50naira to that 1000naira payment making 1050 for your ads to reach 10,000 people or they reduce numbers of audience tour 1000naira ads will reach from 10,000people to 9500people. At the end, it's Nigeria that still pays Do you get it now? 2 Likes |

seunmsg: By your logic Facebook and Google need to establish a corporate presence in every country for tax purposes, because they both have a global userbase. Does that sound sensible to you? 1 Like 1 Share |

If you make a profit by rendering services or selling products to the citizens of a given nation, you're liable to pay tax to the government of that nation, provided there's a mandate to that effect. Thus, FG's plan to tax Facebook and its likes is a policy that should've been enforced years back. However, due to the dynamic nature of sure firms, drafting a tax compliant policy can be cumbersome. That said, I'm not surprised why people find this rather inconvenient, given the type of government we have. But let's call a spade a spade. |

Someday you will realize I am actually the one telling you the fact. It's a pity you won't come back to acknowledge my points. When you leave the shores of Nigeria and get to developed countries, you will understand the full concept of tax, its implication on the economy of the nation, and why your perspective about tax isn't feasible. Till then, best of luck yesloaded: 1 Like 1 Share |

Hahahahahahaha, these companies are so smart that they avoid being taxed in several other well organised and advanced countries. FIRS that can't even record 100% tax collections with physically available companies in Nigeria wants to go after companies operating in a much more complex area such as the digital technology space, I wish them well. Our main problem has never been that of revenue, our main problem is looting and spending priorities. |

Tunar18: There is no double taxations like we have here. You are not subjected to FG, State, LG and area boys taxation on the same business or premise. You get tax rebate yearly as incentive. In Developed Countries, due to Covid19, you are given palliative cheques or food because your pay tax. I pay more than #2.5m as tax yearly what do I get in return? |

Tunar18: I'm sorry, I've been out of this country and do business in 3 different countries presently. I know implication of tax but it's unfortunate that you are yet to come to terms that Nigerians are paying heavy tax with nothing to show for it Cars is cheap in Canada because import duty there is very low whereas used cars is very expensive in Nigeria because import duty is on high side. Same thing goes to lots of imported products, nobody is talking about toothpick here even almighty America do import so please don't tell me patronize naija things. Import duty was part of tax if you care to listen and directly or indirectly, you as final consumer of all imported products pay tax Go to Dubai or ask anyone living in dubai to tell you how much they pay as tax, & compare Dubai with Nigeria. Nigeria is taking loans that will be shared among few people while hard working poor Nigerians repay the loan See, not until you begin to reason like common man and not praise singer of politician before you begin to see things the way common man sees it I have container coming from China as we speak and I pray I remember your moniker when I wanna clear it, I will show you what we paid some years back as against what we pay now Bottom line, EXCESSIVE TAX HAS NEVER BE OF ANY USE IN THE LIFE OF COMMON NIGERIANS Where I lives, we hired both police & local vigilante offices to guard our area when government has failed to provide security which was part of the reason we pay tax See, am tired of educating you Don't even go to saying advance country bla bla bla, am not local bro In advance country, people see what government spent their tax on and that's not the case here in Nigeria What's minimum wage in advance country that you mentioned compared to this place? I ASK AGAIN, WHO PAYS TAX LEVIED ON CABLE TV OPERATORS, SUBSCRIBERS OR OPERATORS? 1 Like |

ugoonuoha:Yimu.. they can not do shiiit... They do not have a site here. Why would you block something you have no alternative to? Do you think telcos will all such? do u know the amount of businesses that depend on social media for promotion? kuku tell them to shut the internet access in Nigeria. See how you are even reasoning? very annoying... must you tax everybody to death before you generate anything? why must fix your eyes like thieve in people's hustles, they have frustrated Uber out of lagos, gokada, oride and all innovative start ups, they have killed small logistics companies.. you think all these is normal? Wait until they they tax the oxygen you breathe before you will know what hits you |

robotix:This is what we are saying There are other meaningful ways this government can generate huge income but they always want shortcut It's proven that throughout the world, south Western part of this country has lots of medicinal plants that good for human consumption but govenmnet can't spend money on research instead they prefer to spend money looking for crude oil in lake Chad We have large parcel of fertile land but government has refused to grow anything on it In the past, Nigeria is the largest exporter of cocoa but now the case is different |

yesloaded: Exactly my anger. This admin is just a bunch of thieves. Some time last year, they came with similar idea such that they wanted to be taxing people who run ads via facebook. In their mind, they think it was something like the offline business that they enjoy frustrating... I was just there wondering how they are gonna implement it. One person took them to court and they lost the case. Though some guys were panicking but I told them not to worry because they can not implement it because they lack the system to do that. As far as this internet thing is concerned, whoever came up with the idea (like a thieve) in on a wild goose chase cos they will waste their time. They are always looking for where to steal. 2 Likes |
