LegendHero: Your have the courage to show up after your white lie was busted. Do the maths, the high gross movie you listed are they up to 3 billion naira. Yet Nollywood generates more than 230 billion naira every year. Have you seen that your little efforts although well appreciated is but a drop in the ocean. As for your claims of Yoruba movie making more money than Igbo movies, I can only but laugh you to stupor. I repeat you are far behind in Nollywood. 1 Like |

Noneroone: Why don't you write your own history? Everybody knows anything that does not favour you guys is deemed fake by the Lagos - Ibadan news. Thank God it's not a Yoruba man that wrote the history of Nollywoood. If you don't like it, kindly find the nearest power line and hug it, better still if you are in Lagos, kindly look for the Lagoon and ..................jump. 2 Likes |

LegendHero:most of these movies you listed are not nollywood movies. they are yorubawood at the least. If they are highest grossing (in your language), then have the money and don't "modify" a nollywood industry known worldwide. |

gwafaeziokwu: I am in a different time zone to start with so I just woke up. Who are you and which lie did you busted? Lol, little effort you say? Yoruba produced movies form the larger chunk of that revenue and sane minds know that. I listed the first 90 movies and Yoruba clearly dominate all the list and yet you are here telling me of an imaginary industry dominated by Igbos. The joke is on you! Yes, going to indigenous movies, the Yoruba movies far generate revenue and streams than the Igbo indigenous movies. Are you also trying to contest this? 4 Likes |

Zinniee: What is your definition of Nolywood to start with? Did it just originated out of thin air? "In 1957, Fincho became the first Nigerian film to be shot in color. The first Nollywood movies were created by historical filmmakers such as Ola Balogun, Hubert Ogunde, Jab Adu, Moses Olayia and Eddie Ugboma. And a bit later in 1984, Wale Adenuga’s Papa Ajasco became the first blockbuster and one of the largest cinematic events in Nigeria. The movie grossed about 61,000 nairas in three days." 7 Likes |

LegendHero: Nna you just confirmed your level of intelligence. Let's take your high grossing for 2019 alone, their total earning were #1,080,246,819 . I even dash you the movies owned by Igbos and others in that same year. So your high grossing movies generated #1,080,246,819 in 2019. Now on the average Nollywood generates $3.3 billion dollars annually. Roughly #230 billion naira. If you remove #1,080,246,819 from #230 billion you have like #228 billion naira. Do you get the maths now. Your high grossing movies are not the money spinner in Nollywood. You see those movies you look down on, they are the real deal. There are 54 countries in Africa and Nigerian movies are been exported to them in large numbers. These ones do not need cinema to sell. Nigeria has 200million population, how many of them have the money to go to the cinema and see your movies. Igbo business men are using the channel best known to them to rake in money year in year out. You guys are JJC, watch and learn. Modified: Nollywood is a $3.3 billion industry that generate on the average $560 million annually 1 Like |

Zinniee: They are trying so hard to change the narrative, but it is dead on arrival. Kenneth Nnebue a traderin 2by2 shop with no fancy certificate started Nollywood. His name is etched in gold and no amount of propaganda from the west will wipe that fact. 1 Like |

Zinniee: My question to you is that does living in Bondage just spring out of thin air? Who are those into movies before then? Ogunde, Papa Ajasco, and so on were already in the game several years before living in bondage. There are several evolution of the movies industry in Nigeria. From stage dramas, shows on Tvs, Video Casette, VCDs, Cinema theaters, Online streaming, now playing on the international scene Netflix. Nollywood is just a name, what is the definition of Nolywood and what is the scope of Nollywood? Is Nolywood only English language movies? If No, then you have no argument here. 1 Like |

LegendHero:who told you every English movie is nollywood? Nollywood started as Igbo stories told in Igbo language, later changed to Igbo stories told in English language for marketing expediency. They incorporated people from other ethnic groups and built a multimillion dollar empire. some nollywood movies have French and Swahili versions outside Nigeria. The North have their own story too told through kannywood. it's kinda surprising how Yoruba's try to attach to nollywood and brand their movies a such. You should be looking at ways to tell your stories to the world by building a Yoruba industry instead of riding on the back of successful people while stabbing them in the name of "modifying". We know the history well and won't let you rewrite it. 2 Likes |

gwafaeziokwu: What should I do with your mathematics? Are the movies I quoted the only movies by Yoruba people? Do you know the amount of movies produced monthly by those Yoruba producers? Do you know how much they rake in? Do you know how much of revenue they rake in from Youtube views? So what exactly are you talking about? If there is data to showcase 1000 top grossing Nollywood movies, the Yoruba will still dominate the list. So accept your fate in Nigeria, Yoruba rule the entertainment scene. 3 Likes |

Taye4j:I don't have time for you Wikipedia pseudo-intellectuals. Someone went to wikipedia and wrote a junk history saying that "cinema industry is informally referred to as nollywood" . History of cinema in Nigeria is different from nollywood. You shouldn't try to dubiously mix them together. Nollywood started as home video not cinema that was why it celebrated 20th anniversary in 2012. if you want to celebrate your cinematography, do so without dubiously attaching to another industry. |
