They haven't even got the courage to brand their industry. They don't believe in hardwork, they believe in riding on people's hardwork. They believe in government intervention in business as with the indigenization decree. Jide kosoko even called on government some yrs back to ban home videos which didn't pass through cinemas. A veiled call to ban nollywood. If they can't compete, they claim. when they can't claim they hate.

its a good one for Mo abudu. please in no way should you link the success of any hardworking person in Nigeria to FG. they have and have no business helping and progressing any sector of the economy not to talk of indivudual lives.

Read my comment again. In no way did l link her success to the FG

it is not our business if you choose to abandon your industry and story. Hausas know they wouldn't be comfortable having Igbo's tell their story and its religious connotations that is why they hold onto kannywood. Yorubas have their own story told in Yoruba language, they have their actors who belong to a union separate from nollywood Actors guild of Nigeria called association of theatre act practitioners of Nigeria, so what's the fuss about being part of nollywood? Do you think an average actor of the Yoruba section be him Yoruba or English would be identified as a nollywood actor outside Nigeria?

So only Igbo actors are the nollywood actors? Do you even know how nollywood came about? Etomi Adesua is not nollywood actress but biniwood according to your logic?

IGBOS own Nollywood, Yorubas has no say in Nollywood, so quit posting trash!
I sympathize with those who paid your school fees. Your education was a waste of time, energy & resources. I'm not sure you even know what Nollywood is. The Yoruba, that you were brought up to hate with so much passion, the same Yoruba, that every Igbo sees as their only problem in life, pioneered the anything called entertainment in Nigeria. Be it film production, music or comedy & even till tomorrow, we still produce the very best in the industry. There is hardly one field of human endeavor, in which the Yoruba nation has not produced great personalities of int'l repute. Talk about law in Nigeria (for instance) the very best of lawyers in Nigeria's history (past &present) are Yoruba's. What about other fields like banking & insurance, real estate, education, sport, engineering/architecture, politics/governance, even businesses that some people claim they know how to do best, some of the biggest investments in Nigeria today are owned & controlled by the Yorubas. Religion: Despite the difference in religious inclinations in the South West, it still remains the stronghold/base of Christianity in Nigeria. The biggest denominations & most influential pastors in this country are all in the West. So if the success of the Yoruba is your headache, then you'll never recover because we will only get better with time. Peace !

can you point out where I made the claim? if an Igbo actor features in Yoruba movies that makes the Igbo a Yoruba personality not a nollywood actor. If yorubas like omotola, olu jacobs etc feature in nollywood it makes them nollywood actors but it doesnt change the cultural foundation and the igbo story that nollywood projects. If ighalo like let him become the coach of Man U it wouldn't turn Barclay's premier league to Nigeria premier league. It's still part of English football. Some Igbo's like Patience ozokwor who speak Yoruba tried the Yoruba industry but it wasn't paying. If Yoruba stories are selling as it should Igbo producers and actors would dominate your industry. But you are not making any effort to tell your stories, instead you find some of Yoruba producers try to "mix" two cultures in one movie as a way of telling yoruba story using the false pretence of producing nollywood movies which are more marketable as in "omugwo" and "wedding party".

Mo Abudu just signed a partnership with Netflix which is said to be the first of its kind in Africa.

That is what you are calling audio?

Lol. To call Igbos petty, envious and dishonest would be an insult to those who are all the above.

Of course Mo Audu's achievement is no big deal to Igbos. No surprise there.

Same as world dominance Yorubas like Anthony Joshua, Israel Adesanya and Kamaru Usman enjoy as champions in combat sports is no big deal at all to Igbos. Anyone fit achieve am na. Dem jus dey dash the thing out sef. No be so brother Shukwudi?

The reason why we still using 2000 megawatts from 1960 is because of government failure.

From the list posted by that daft human beign up there , the highest in earnings for a year is wedding party. It earned #453 million naira in a year. Very impressive stuff and kudos to Kemi Adetiba the Director and the producers Ijeoma Agukoronye, Don Omope and Zulu Onuekwusi. They did a great job and I pray they beat this effort with subsequent outings.

Just to put the record straight Nollywood earns an impressive $590 million annually, about #230 billion or $3 billion. More that 50 Nollywood movies are produced every week in Nigeria. Add all the movies you are chest beating with(even though they were produced in different years) and subtract from the yearly earnings in Nollywood and shame will catch you.

SouthAfrica, Kenya and so many countries including UK, has a lot of high grossing movies year in year out. Some even won the Oscars yet Nollywood is rated 3rd in the world, why? Volume! It is called an industry for a reason. An industry is like a living money making idol.
We all have a role to play to make Nollywood better but don't you ever in your wildest imagination feel you can push aside Igbos in the Nollywood industry. Where would you even start?
I'm Yoruba, and when ever I come across tribalist comment0 on this forum, I jump and pass. You to should learn to do same, they are all jobless.
