I understand this is your Everton bias speaking coz you are an Evertonian. It is normal. Lol. Listen, Osimhen is waaaaayyyyyy better than Calvert Lewin. The gap is huge. I need not say more.

TheLoneCitizen:

You're overrating it, Osimhen is better than Calvert-lewin, but not that much.

You need to put strength of league into perspective, the French Ligue is the worst of the Top 5 leagues.

The EPL is the highest level of football.

This has nothing to do with sentiments, sir, I once stated that Osimhen is the most complete striker aged 21 and under. Better than Haaland. But he doesn't dwarf his competitors, in fact, Ings is a more complete striker than Osimhen.

Oliseh on Osimhen. Interview with RFI
Sunday Oliseh: "Nigeria has had no player of the caliber of Osimhen since Yekini"

Sunday Oliseh is a former midfielder emblematic of the great Nigerian national team of the 1990s. He was also the coach in 2015-2016 of the "Super Eagles". At the time, Victor Osimhen had already caught his eye. Today, for RFI, the former resident of Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus Turin and Borussia Dortmund says all the good he thinks about the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé 2020.

RFI: Sunday Oliseh, Victor Osimhen is the winner of the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé 2020 which rewards the best African player in the French Championship. Are you surprised that it is ahead of more experienced players like the Algerian Islam Slimani (2nd), the Moroccan Yunis Abdelhamid (3rd) or the Senegalese Mbaye Niang (5th)?

Sunday Oliseh: First of all, I would like to congratulate Victor Osimhen on being elected winner of the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize. This trophy is important since it rewards the best African player in the French Championship. It is important for us Africans.

I find his victory even more surprising when we see the competitors that Victor had to surpass to win this title. Many people will wonder if he deserves it, if he is stronger than these players. But what Victor has done this season is truly exceptional. Thanks to him, his team managed to make a magnificent season.

I think Victor frankly deserves it because he brought a lot to his club. We really saw the difference when Victor was on the field and when he was not. We see the possibilities he offers his teammates to go forward. We also see the weight it places on enemy defenses.

He won the Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, succeeding players like Gervinho, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vincent Enyeama and André Ayew. Is Victor Osimhen a player of the same caliber as them?

Many people wonder. I think Victor even has qualities that these players don’t have. He is young and I’m almost certain he’ll be leaving the French Championship in the near future. Because, all over Europe, they talked about him. His ex-club in Germany [Wolfsburg, where Osimhen failed to win, Editor's note] must be moaning because they realized they had lost a quality player. Victor is a player of the future. He deserves this consecration.

He was the top scorer in Nigeria’s Under-17 World Cup when you coached the Super Eagles in 2015-16. Did he catch your eye at the time?

When I was coach, I was trying to assemble a new team. In fact, the basics of the current national team are made up of players that I have put together. For me, it was important to have young people from the future who were hungry for national team matches.

Victor Osimhen was playing at the U17 World Cup at the time. I had watched the meetings with my assistants, including the final won by Nigeria. He did it with such ease, the way he eliminated his opponents.

We planned to invite him to the national team. But I left the selection. Otherwise, I would have invited him. Because, since Rashidi Yekini left the selection, we have not had a player of the caliber of Victor Osimhen. My plan was to integrate it slowly into the "Super Eagles", to give it a few minutes, before launching it 100% as we did with Wilfred Ndidi or Alex Iwobi at the time.

Can it be the top level center forward that Nigeria has sometimes missed to be at the top?

Even today, the Nigerian team is strong. We have very good players. But we’re missing a few key players, especially in offensive animation. I think that after what Victor has done this year, his presence is going to be something wonderful for the national team. I'm optimistic. I think it will solve the problems we have, in terms of finish, penetration, movement. It will allow midfielders to play directly forward.

A last word to address to Victor Osimhen?

Frankly, congratulations Victor! You deserve it. But I advise you my little brother to always remain humble and ambitious at the same time. Stay professional and good luck. Congratulations again, little brother!

It is alongside La Liga. La Liga is actually the best league in Europe and in the world. La liga is Uefa's number 1 rated league strength wise and other wise according to the Uefa coefficients ranking.

But even at that, I cannot say that Neal Maupay or Danny Ings, both in the EPL are close to the level of Cavani who did it in Ligue 1 last season.

I repeat.... The gap between the quality in Osimhen and in Calvert Lewin is wide.

Folarin to consult parents before making a decision on his international future.

Arsenal strike star Folarin Balogun, 18, was born in New York, is dubbed next Aubameyang but is set to leave Gunners

IT looks like Arsenal wonderkid Folarin Balogun is set to leave the Gunners for pastures new.
The New York-born striker, recognised as one of the academy's top talents, is reportedly stalling on a new contract and wants to leave the club on a free transfer for a new challenge, after failing to break into Mikel Arteta's first team.

Balogun moved to England at the age of two and his family settled in London.

He played in Sunday league football for Aldersbrook in Essex, and even had a trial with Tottenham.
But he decided to join Arsenal when he was 10 and rose through the ranks with the Gunners.
Simply put, he is a goalscoring machine, who has struck 10 goals in 15 Premier League games in Premier League 2 for Arsenal's Under-23s.
Such a prolific record would, naturally, see some Emirates fans comparing the speedy striker to their first-team superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
And they wouldn't be the only ones.

BAL GAME
"I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays," Balogun told Arsenal.com.
Aubameyang has given the star his backing, too.
Last season's joint top-scorer in the Premier League responded to a profile of Balogun by saying: "This young boy is [fire emoji]".
Arteta has a deep chest of young jewels to choose from over the next few years.

Freddie Ljungberg, assistant coach and former head of academy, knows full well the extent of talent in Arsenal's youth ranks.
He has helped progress and promote, with Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock starring in the first team in the past few seasons.
But Balogun has seen his path into the first team blocked by the likes of Aubameyang, Lacazette, and now Nketiah, who has been getting a run of games under Arteta.

"I do a lot of work in training trying to improve and develop different ways of finishing so that when the chance comes, I’m ready to use whichever option is best," Balogun said.

"It also helps to keep defenders guessing. As the standard of the teams in which you play rises, you get less and less time and fewer opportunities on the ball.

THREE-WAY FIGHT
"This is what drives me to be as efficient as possible in front of goal."

While Balogun waits for his opportunity at club level, he has a choice to make of his own when it comes to the national team.

He has already represented England at youth level, in the 2018 European Championships, but has two other options.

"I was born in New York, so can play for the USA," he said.

"My parents were born in Nigeria and I have been in England since I was two years old, so I can play for both those countries too!

"I have several youth caps playing for England and I enjoy their style of play which is similar to Arsenal’s.

"I will be discussing matters with my parents and will then decide."

His curtain call awaits.

--TheSun

The bobo did not mention Nigeria. Just saw his video clips not quite long. Very fast n versatile.. I like the way he was bullying those kids 10goals in 16matches ..thats nice. He would have moved to Brenton in January but he hope arsenal will give him good contract... He won't lack suitor though.

Yes you are right but remember Enyeama have a cap against Kenya(a friendly match) prior to 2002 WC and was magnificent against England with beautiful save from Schole shot.

Uzoho would work his socks off to equal Enyeama record.

Aiming to equal Vincent's record would surely require him to put in the work and that would improve him. We'd then wait to see if he can eventually beat the record.

You're right Dad. Uzoho has his work more than cut out for him. Enyeama was indeed something special.

Anyway, Competition and hardwork has a way of bringing out the best in young goalies. Glad to see Alampasu getting back on track even if it was only his first game in a long while. Would love to see Uzoho pushed hard by both Okoye and Alampasu in the long run. Days of Akpeyi and Ezenwa are drawing to a close. They have a little more time left to dorn the GWG.
