They don't.

Ghana charges at least N1000 more than Nigeria per package. Kenya and South Africa too charge higher

We are charged the cheapest rate for Multichoice countries in Africa

The Ghana that you mentioned, is it not pay per view that they are enjoying?
Correct me if I am right.
Mr Price will be leaving Naija because it doesn't favor them.
Multichoice should be generous to do likewise.
Re: Multichoice Mulls Dropping EPL, UEFA Broadcast Rights by donmarshia(m): 4:17pm On Jul 01, 2020
Based on the article multi choice Nigeria is not making money in Nigeria.

Multi choice as a group pays for rights to broadcast to Nigeria differently and then pays for the rest of Africa differently too. Now, they do not not recoup the expenditure on rights from its Nigerian business. They believe they would fare better if they just pay to broadcast to the rest of Africa and forget Nigeria.

Unfortunately no other Nigerian company has the capacity to take up this business model and still be profitable. STAR TIMES no reach.

If dem decide pull out, e don bee for football lovers.

Nigerians keep complaining without even understanding any thing about business.

Economic realities are subjective.

When your salary comes in time, you eat chicken. As the salary reduces you eat products of Chicken (Eggs) and subsequently you begin to eat chicken's food, (maize and millet), and finally, when salary is finished, you become chicken itself, spending your time walking around just looking for what to eat"!

Everyone is on a different level.
Bros, this ur comment make sense die, who is interested in economic reality when Bubu without is in charge

Once again, the old lie....Ghana does pay per view. A lie that I have heard over and over again on this site...

Ghana has a packages system.

DStv Ghana Premium Package costs GHS 340/month with 185 Channels. (N22,774 NAIRA)
DStv Ghana Compact Plus Package costs GHS 210/month with 172 Channels. (14, 066 NAIRA)
DStv Ghana Compact Package costs GHS 140/month with 165 Channels. (9,3770 NAIRA)
DStv Ghana Family Package costs GHS 75/month with 139 Channels.(5,032.70 NAIRA)

For Nigeria

DSTV Compact (₦6,975 per Month)
DSTV Compact Plus (₦10,925 per Month
DSTV Premium (₦16,200 per Month)

Ghana does not have pay as you go. Niether does ANY African country. And our packages are even CHEAPER than Ghana's self.

All nah just plenty talk undecided MultiChoice can't dump EPL and champions league angry

When they know that that's what is still keeping them in business undecided

That EPL and champions league right just be like their pot of gold cheesy the number of adverts alone sef don do them to make profit

If not for their greediness undecided how can they be complaining again when they are operating in a monopoly
They are not operating in a free market.
A monopoly is actually useless when you are not free to set your price
due to political pressure.

If they are operating at a loss as alleged.
It is better to scrap EPL and Champions league.
Business is about profit and not just revenue.

It is a shame really.
Business knowledge is almost zero for an average Nigerian.
Some people are even calling on National assembly to force a price reduction bill on Multichoice
when they are hemorrhaging money due to Nigeria's unstable forex market.

I suppose they will drop the sports channels if the loss becomes unsustainable.

Amazon and Netflix should grab this opportunity and end DStv monopoly
Amazon and Netflix are bad for our economy because they don't pay tax to the government.
Moreover, they are not a direct competitor to DSTV
as the cost of data is huge.

Those are illegal streaming service , as with most IPTV service and will only last a while. EPL FA are really clamping hard on these guys.

The truth remains that if DSTV refuse to renew rights, they will eventually fold up in Nigeria and it would open up opportunities for any capable cable TV company.

They are businesses they exist to make profit.
Unless, they force you to subscribe at gunpoint, rip off doesn't
even come close to it. Moreover, Nigerians pay one of the lowest cable susbcription
in Africa.

Watch out for them o, they are thieves. After they have gathered a lot from Nigerians by not operating on pay as you go, now they have learnt that the sleeping Nigerians are awake by insisting on Pay as you Go,they want to abscond with the gathered wealth. The gullible SINATORS AND POLITHIEFCIANS are the ones who cause all these messes o.

Nigerians for the most part are a bunch of clueless people who always choose to remain wretched. Even me that live in America, I cut off my cable service several years ago. I use to pay between $60 to $100 every month, and I kept the service just because of soccer as they always offer the service as packages. Often you can't choose soccer channels alone. I realized it was only soccer I was watching as I did not have time to watch other channels. These days I watch playback on YouTube, and NBS show 2 matches free on Saturdays. That's enough. Virtually, Nigerians and other Africans are dashing UK $250 million every year, and another $100 million to Europe generally. See why these western countries are richer while Africans are getting poorer. Show me one African media product that Europeans will pay to watch.

Dstv subscription in Nigeria is the cheapest on the continent despite our harsh business environment.
If they drop football, they'll still retain many subscribers because they have some of the best content both locally and globally.
Finally, people have to realise that cable TV is not an essential utility like electricity and water. All over the world, cable TV is expensive and for only people who can afford. That's why there's public TV like BBC and NTA in our case.
Did u say NTA? I almost threw up watching it yesterday. The picture quality is wack and the audio is nauseating. God pls I need money to sub my gotv
