austinauto:But is it an abomination for startimes to be showing premier league matches? They only aired the game on Saturday and it must be a match that falls within 3:00pm. They need to acquire the right. |

Runjozi: OK...so prices get so reduced that DSTV cannot pay anymore for Premier league rights, among other things? Right.... When you are running your business, you better pray that government does not listen to Nigerians who are asking them to cut the prices of your services by 50% for poor Nigerians to afford it. 1 Like |

kikero: Thanks o Jere!! Many idiots here will still say that your lying that these are not the prices. Yet they won't carry their phone and browse dstv website for all those countries. I say again, the problem is not with the pricing, its with your wages. All this is just a smokescreen. Same way we keep petrol prices artificially low to make it seem like the people have a benefit, so they won't remember to take on the government. Venezuela that we all used to say is oil producing nation and petrol is N30 per litre, where did it lead them? The country bankrupted itself during the crude oil price crash of 2015, to the extent that the country could not afford to import food and medicines. Their citizens had to be walking to the border of other countries to but them. Thats like all of festac walking to benin border to buy medicine and food. Una no dey watch International news for cnn? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Temidayo9: channeling all efforts toward power sector is tantamount to fetching water into a basket ... considering so many uncontrollable factors surrounding that sector compared to dstv that can be easily restructure & controlled. In developed countries pay as you go is the major mode of subscription, which applies even in SA why should it be different in nigeria, why should nigerians alway pay 4 what they did not use or enjoy. NB: monopoly of certains service suspends "choices" lets dem share with tstv only then the word "choice" go make sense. abegg |

Dstv, mtn is not a monopoly.. Mumu people. Any company that has the money can come and compete but the real issue is is there any company in a country filled with poor people that can compete with a brand like mtn and dstv that has a solid foundation 5 Likes |

DStv has no monopoly over the market. The subscriptions are one of the cheapest in the world when compared to dollar rates. The industry is opened for all and DSTV is making the most of it. Soon you'd see the premier League taken off DSTv because of rising premier league costs and dwindling naira value. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria has the cheapest DSTV subscription price in Africa adjusted for exchange rates. TV rights for all those Premier League or Champions League you enjoy and license fees for all those international channels are not cheap at all. If you can't afford it, find the cheapest bouquets or don't subscribe at all. No be by force to get DSTV. I'm tired of international companies being held to ransom despite operating in one of the most hostile business climates in the world. DSTV have proven their mettle over decades of operating in Nigeria and these incompetent buffoons in power should find more productive engagements rather than trying to over-regulate well run industries. 9 Likes |

Temidayo9:DSTV agent is what you are" stop trying too hard defending your pay master, what Nigerians want is not impossible. Pay per view is the best alternative for the working class family ' most families work 7am-5pm in Nigeria and the only time they enjoy family Union is 6pm -10pm so who loose. |

Dstv may be right in their prepaid sub plan. Nigeria has a high poverty index so the number of people subscribing to any plan is very low when compared to other African countries. The Nigerian government has no economic or moral right to blame dstv instead they should channel the blame to themselves because they made Nigerians poor. 1 Like |

jornwhite: Bros, you don't know how pay as you go works in practice. If you knew,. you won't be advocating for it here in Nigeria, because you would end up paying far more than you do now for your DSTV subscription. A question often asked is: Why can we not have a pay-as-you-go model for pay-TV as we have in telecommunications, where subscribers pay for what they use? I hope you understand now... You are right but that's not the kind of package I expect from DSTV. Mind you by God's grace I'm a subscriber for one of their top package for years now. Even though they are purely to make profit, I believe they would do good to leave the major news channels such as Channel TV and TVC few days after expiration. You will only enjoy NTA for free Temidayo9: |

kikero: TSTV WAS STILL TEST RUNNING THEIR NETWORK WHEN THEY BROUGHT THEM DOWN....Many satellite Station didn't just start all of a sudden.... They test run their service first but that wouldn't stop them from advertising what their services would be during this testing period |

ezenwajosh: Test running...when they were offering decoder., and saying they have launched service? And even had sales agents across the country. TSTV was not serious, and they knew it. HiTV even did better than them when they started. The guy behind TSTV should go and get more financing, and get better prepared. Not try to build brand on lies and wuru wuru practices. Startines dey for people that don't like DSTV. Much cheaper. 1 Like |

Honestly I'm not complaining. I'm only saying our government can't do anything regarding the DSTV case except we the subscribers do something. By God's grace I have been using one of their top package for years so I understand we are operating in pure capitalist economy. However, any promised by any government to force DSTV to reduce their tariff is a fallacy. Xisnin: |
