Tareq1105: It wouldn't be different. If they are defiant and unwilling to work with the government of the day to move the State forward, by now, new candidates would have been elected through a by-election. Obaseki was even cool with them. Probably, cause they were all from the same political party. |

SmartProf: So in your opinion, 18 elected members, out of a 24-member house of assembly, should not be allowed to sit, discuss and elect a leader for themselves? What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. In this case, the governor is clearly in the wrong. 1 Like |

For those who are more interested in facts and legality (rather than sentiment and wishful thinking), here is what the 1999 Constitution says: PART II B - PROCEDURE FOR SUMMONING AND DISSOLUTION OF HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY 94. (1) Every person elected to a House of Assembly shall before taking his seat in that House, declare his assets and liabilities in the manner prescribed in this Constitution and subsequently take and subscribe before the Speaker of the House, the Oath of Allegiance and oath of membership prescribed in the Seventh Schedule to this Constitution, but a member may, before taking the oaths, take part in the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly. (2) The Speaker and Deputy Speaker of a House of Assembly shall declare their assets and liabilities in the manner prescribed by this Constitution and subsequently take and subscribe to the Oath of Allegiance and the oath of membership prescribed as aforesaid before the Clerk of the House of Assembly. 95. (1) At any sitting of a House of Assembly, the Speaker of that House shall preside, and in his absence the Deputy Speaker shall preside. (2) In the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House, such member of the House as the House may elect for a purpose shall preside. 96. (1) The quorum of a House of Assembly shall be one-third of all the members of the House. 2 Likes |

braveboi4life: Malami did not ask your Obasek to embrace illegality by inugurating 10 out of 24 members of the assembly in the dead of the night? If that makes sense to you, then dont blame Malami for anyone that brake the law. Stop being ignorant. If it was the PDP that was on the receiving end of Obasek, will you still be saying the same? Many of you just went to school but never educated Regards Olu 2 Likes |

azmanaty02: Who declared their sit vacant? Are they not elected by election like the governor? Sometimes I don’t know how people reason and if the federal government does 1% of this. You will say our democracy is in danger, calling amnesty International etc to bear our rescue. Which competent courts declared their sit vacant, I want to learn o. 1 Like |

ThatFairGuy: But he was still in APC when he refused to swear them in. He saw the handwriting on the wall then. Why was there no uproar then. They did not try to swear them in secretly while he was in apc. The earlier you realise that politicians are all the same, the better for you. It's not about your interest but theirs. |
