Well the two almost sound the same, as they both reveal the mind of God to His people, as they both are able to hear from God oftentimes.

But I still think that perhaps a seer has more revelational gifts than prophets

The answer to that is simple... have you ever found any of them teaching on a subject that Jesus Christ never taught or commanded you on or said anything about, pretending they do so in the name of Jesus Christ, and ultimately God? Jesus Christ referred to those as doctrines and rules(lies) of men... and warned us all against those. Yes, all of them, including yourself, are guilty of such things.

You see, the Pharisees and Sadducees were guilty of doing exactly that. They even went as far as to teach people that washing their hands before they eat were commandments of God on keeping themselves from being tainted or becoming unclean. Those teachers of the law set themselves up as rule makers in the name of God. The very same thing your MOGs do today, and they pretend they do it in the name of God.
