Get into the market and ask questions. I did and I realize a huge savings on my project.

No doubt wichtech roofing tiles are among the best in the market. However, with other products coming in from other companies, stiff competing Is the order of the day. Those who know the value of wichtech still use it, they don't fade easily like other tiles.

Though we prefer to use aluminum metal ceiling or composite ceiling tiles for our corporate clients we recommend plaster board for our cost sensitive clients. We consider safety, utility, acoustics and aesthetics.

Pictures 1&2 are plaster board ceiling from way back in 2011, picture 3 is perforated metal ceiling tiles.

While picture 4 is pop cast ceiling from a property we acquired for a client. The holes were from a little leak in the roof some installations. We are stripping off the entire ceiling and replacing it with metal tiles. The property is being renovated to a commercial property.

I tried to ask around for knauf and siniat yesterday but most of the suppliers I contacted don’t seem to have it.
I was only able to get pricing for ABS and one other product from Turkey. You know all those “These one too is good” marketing gimmicks.

Can you point me to a place to get those high quality boards in Lagos? I checked Jiji the only thing that came up is on knauf mineral wool

For personal reasons (not limited to privacy) I use personal builds for experimental projects to showcase the endless possibilities and not clients projects.
I’m currently working on NextHome20 and lots of these modern stuffs (floating staircase, skylight, pivoting doors, floor-to-ceiling windows etc) will be put into use.

I used plasterboards in NextHome H52 in 2015 but this time around NextHome20 is a purpose-built modern office with even more features.

If I were him, I would show myself even on video in my workshop doing the real thing to show that i am the fabricator and not a middleman. That may endear me to the trust of homebuilders. If however am a middleman, I would graciously introduce myself as such, there is nothing bad in being a middleman here. Just be honest and you will get patronized.

Some of these untested guys should know that every post they sent in here whether advert or comment is viewed with serious sceptism from many with bundle of experiences from inception of this thread.

This thread especially, it's very educating. I paid 400k above the amount quoted for the blockwork, Even with my BOQ, which I knew favours him more. This is just a low budget bungalow ooo.

Orindudu(aka gberigbede) common around Ogun state and part of Lagos state.
It’s in same class with itara and parapuru

Wood prices in ogun state and Lagos are in 2 classes
1- Alamole
2-bandsaw
Alamole are usually cheaper but the size are not accurate and it’s always bend.

Bandsaw are more costly than “Alamole” but it do come straight and and accurate in measurement.

Do your findings very well when you get to the sawmill

Get another roofer and buy the woods yourself. Go to timber sheds and asked them to show you different types of wood. Dont mention the particular one u are looking for.
Take your time. Dont be in a hurry. A visit to two or three mills will giv u good education.

Your wife did well.
Buy by yourself at the sawmill. Let them show you the different types available, then settle for one but let it be red wood. Please use another carpenter to roof because this present one will bad mouth your wood and give you a bad work just to get even.
