The Chief Willie Obiano International Airport Umueri will be bearing the governor's name, so expect nothing but the best.

THE CULTURE I WANT TO SEE IN ANAMBRA IS A CULTURE OF DOING OUR BEST.

IF WE ARE NOT READY TO DO OUR BEST THEN WE SHOULD NOT BOTHER TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL.

WE DONT NEED BUS STOP BEING CALLED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LITTERED IN THE SOUTH EAST.

WE MIGHT AS WELL FORCE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO DELIVER ENUGU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND WE JUST USE THAT ONE.

I SEE NO SENSE IN EVERY, TOM DICK AND HARRY BUILDING SUBSTANDARD AIRPORTS.

IT IS NOT A MUST EVERY STATE WILL HAVE AIRPORT.

THERE IS AIRPORT IN ENUGU AND PORT HARCOURT BUILT FOR US BY NIGERIA.

The truth of the matter is that it takes a minimum of 3 years to build a basic airport. Obiano is not delivering any airport in 2021 unless it's a landing strip for small cessnas.

Like cjrane said an airport is runway, lighting AND also TRAFFIC. The busiest airports in Nigeria are built next to major cities. Lagos and Abuja.

ChimaAdeoye:

If you live in the USA, you will know that no single airport in Nigeria (Lagos or Abuja) meets the minimum standard of even train stations in USA.

Therefore, if we considered standard before coming to Nigeria, then we would NEVER come home because none is up to standard.

I agree that safety and operationability is the keyword here. The airport should have the required length od runway and electronic instrument landing system before Obiano leaves office. Once the airport is generating its own income, even if the next governor decides not to fund it, it will gradually fund itself to complete the taxiways, airfield lighting and terminal building.

Obiano's primary job now is to make sure the airport becoame operational before he leaves office to ensure it can begin to fund it's own development. Albeit slowly.

Your post is incoherent hopeless useless and worthless. Is Abuja airport close to Abuja? Do you know how many kilometres between Abuja airport and Abuja city? Stop spewing nonsense all the time like a mad man. Anambra international airport will be completed next year., and it will be Nigeria's busiest airport after Lagos and Abuja, and maybe PH.

What ChimaAdeoye is saying about airports isnt true and airports aren't inherently superior to train stations as he's implying.

most of what's being called 'standard' on this forum is asthetics. if you can land a plane and send another in the air safely you airport is 'standard'

Bro this a fat fucking lie! Many airports in US lie in ruin. Bradley airport in Greenwich CT cannot be compared to ABJ or LOS airport. Yeah, true most Nigerian airports are substandard but to say that even train stations in US are better than LOS and ABJ airport is hyperbole taken too far. In fact, apart from grand Central in NY which other standard train station is in the US? and even grand Central is nothing compared to London metro or even the one in Moscow.

There you go! A lot of our people don't understand that even the so called standard airports in many advanced countries, have been there for almost a century now. You can't (even if you're dense) expect obiano to deliver JFK sort of airport in Anambra state. Common? Even JFK has been there since the 1920s and remember that airport was built by the city of New York, a city with wall Street.

To me, if obiano can deliver a solid run way, with all the landing instruments, beautiful and spacious terminal building and all standard airports equipments, like conveyor belts, trolleys etc. Then he has tried his best. Airports are not finished in one day, it's always work in progress. Even Heathrow airport is constantly being upgraded.

Yorubas hate the truth. In America, that airport is the equivalence of comparing Bauchi airport to the busiest international airport in an African country. Yet, I will tell you that even Bradley airport compared to Lagos or Abuja airports is like comparing heaven to hell. Even the Tiny Bradly airport in Connecticut, is basically a domestic airport in the USA except flying small planes to nearby Montreal Canada, it still beats both Lagos and Abuja airports in everything INCLUDING number of flights.

Not to mention that Bradley meet international standard of a functional airport compared to Nigeria's premiere airports.

Again i can show you Metro North train stations and each is better and cleaner than Abuja and Lagos airport terminal buildings. Even the Monorail train stations in Metro Atlanta or Salt Lake city are better than Lagos and Abuja airport buildings.

I don't want to pollute the Anambra thread by posting Lagos and Abuja airports for everyone to compare and see for themselves. Suffice to say that even South African airports are more of international standard compared to Lagos and Abuja airports.

Sincerely Am not a fan of APGA under Obiano but what I saw when I visited the airport site on a Sunday recently was marvelous.
Unfortunately they don't allow one to take pictures.
I have to give it to Obiano on this one.
Do you have to "take" pictures? There are spy gadgets all over the market these days. Spy pen, spy glasses etc that would even make videos.

Since you live in Connecticut, these are the Metro North train stations in Stamford, New Haven, Greenwich.

Let me Know if Lagos airport looks better. Even the toilets in Lagos airport don't have water.

Why do to you think a train station ranks below an airport?

Countries put in their best in their international airports. It is different from their public mass transportation facilities. Although the standard is still waaay above what we build in Nigeria, these countries don't particularly pay too much attention to them as they aren't really image makers like say Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas,Fort Lauderdale, New York , Denver, Newark, Philadelphia, Orlando, Tampa,Detroit, Boston etc airports. I expect Nigeria's 5 international airports to at the minimum resemble south African airports.

My point is that in Nigeria, we have so downgraded the basic standard thinking Lagos is a standard for anything. The way someone mentioned here once that Nnewi should "develop" to become Onitsha. Because we think the closest best thing we have is actually what it should be.

We should outgrow the mindset that anything in Lagos meets global standard. In truth, Lagos is a horrid slum and Nigeria is notorious in building substandard things. That is why i grieve when our highest aspiration is always "Lagos" as if it meets even the basic standard globally.
Exactly the reason why our people are so wowed when they visit even Iran or Egypt.

ARE U THE PERSON ADVICING OBIANO?

Y AM ASKING IS BECOS ALL THIS ONE U ARE SAYING HERE, IS VERY MISLEADING.

THE FACTS ON GROUND IS THAT WE HAVE AN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN ASABA.

WE HAVE ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN ENUGU.

FOR ANYBODY TO EVEN CONSIDER UMUERI AIRPORT, MEANS IT HAS TO BE STATE OF THE ART.

OTHERWISE, IT WILL BE UNDER UTILISED.
