“What we should do is to focus on the government that is closest to us. I will urge people to go and read the constitution, the powers the President has are about 45, many of them are categorised as power but they are even functions and duties.

“The government that can transform us and give us what we want quickly are the government closest to us – state and local government,” he said.

Nigerians can throw a fit and don't know how to react rationally.

Fashola just said the truth really but Nigerians take pride in being antagonistic and they love the Deja vu; I guess there is a thrill to it embedded in us.

Basic amenities like that are to be covered by the State Government. The FG can't be everywhere and they embark on projects that take years to accomplish: rails, roads, ports etc.

Nigeria has so much challenges that a government can achieve so little in eight years, especially with corruption so endemic and institutionalized.

Listen(sic), before you mention. You would keep moaning and groaning and wailing for eight years of Buhari and then the next government and then the next, until you realise the fundamental details of governance and hold them sensibly to it, devoid of emotions or sentiments or prejudice.

I feel a need to reemphasize. This is NOT about APC/ Buhari or what no. I am feeling the burning effects of the economic downturn but I am grateful to God for the ability to detach emotion for rationality.
oh really? Now explain y and how sss got to employ 80% northerners in Buhari administration?

You're only grateful to God that when you get back home from your futile pursuits and frustrations you still see garri and a mixture of water, salt and vegetables called soup to eat. Let me ask you... What exactly do you think is the main complaints of the people? It's the standard of living. How do you measure? The income per capita and the minimum wage. This stupid govt set min wage at 30k less than 100$ and has the audacity to come here and compare the price of petrol with Nigeria and Saudi. Everything is on the increase. Fuel, electricity, food, consumer goods, everything but not the wage. I can't even say what the tax I pay is used for. Of course there are millions of ignoramuses parading empty heads that cannot think or reason and will always support. There's no man I've seen that understands what governance means at the federal level like Donald Trump. There's a reason why infrastructures are shared, I don't know what this same govt means by a rail line to Niger republic. Let me make it categorically clear to you, this govt is unresponsive, irresponsible, and unreactive.

I don't know why some people think others are f00ls for expressing their opinion, for crying out loud, it's their personal opinion, if you have contrary opinion then spill it out.

Mr. Fashola is right, does that mean Governors and local government is in charge of economy, power, security? Then we should not be criticizing the past administration, not should we se them as failure since the state government should be held accountable.

According to Fashola analogy, I hereby tender my sincere apologies to Obasanjo, Jonathan for criticizing your government, now I know that is the state government that is sabotaging your effort.

I must commend you......you have made a vital point. I use to tell my friend that it is high time we start to hold our governors accountable.

They are not doing anything to better the lives of people in the state at all........all the blame is shifted to Federal government.

And federal has refused to do the needful!

how can you hold the governors responsible when we are practicing centralized system of Government, are the state governors in control of Nigeria police to provide security?

are they the one controlling the resources in their land, is too early to buy lies and live with it.

we are not practicing federal system of government, Lugard has smoked his brian off before making this abominable contraption to favour nuisances.

have you asked why the presidency are scared of restructuring?
because all the money federal government and resources under their control will vanish, don't listen to politicians do your research

I'm not saying Fashola is accountable or anything but is he telling the truth or should we throw away the baby and the bathwater? Just because he is lack accountability does that negate what he said?

So, I am saying he is right and let's not argue ad hominem, devoid of reason.

Governance is not magic!

24 Hours Electricity is not rocket science

Your government has failed at both woefully

Let’s not wait on magic or rocket science... it lies with you and your boss and you are all incompetent

Talking bout shifting the responsibility of development to the states and local government yet controlling the resources of the states at the federal level. Give the states FULL autonomy then you call talk about looking in the right places for development

If it is as claimed, the Federal Government has not business with exploitation of resources. Let the states and L.G.As control their resources.

I get ur point but still we know corruption to be the major issue with Nigeria how many of those individuals have been persecuted since the agency involved in fighting corruption belongs to the fed govt how about power and our federal universities how about the lack of jobs after they promised 3 million job annually, you can say it is the state govt but do the state govt control their resources? the state govt has failed just as much as the fed govt.

Tell this to the birds in the sky. Is either you're a friend of a friend of govt in power or you're a pathetic asslicker of the political party called APC.

It's the duty of the Federal govt to provide infrastructure, quality education, jobs, and other basic amenities.

Why are you people so horrible? What's the job of federal govt? Are you telling Nigerians that the Federal govt is just there as figure head.

Nonsense comment.
