Has nothing to do with road design but the population of the area the road passes through. Nairobi to Thika is one contiguous urban area with high pop and the govt reviews the speed limit frequently depending on the need. The German autobahn has a speed limit of 130 kph, while Thika has a speed limit of 110 kph.

Yesterday we was having our usual chat at the bar and when we started discussing politics I was taken aback by how passionate people are when defending this thieves who continue making their lives miserable. I swear were it not for the curfew some fellas would have end up with stab wounds by the end of the night.

This might not be the situation in the western world but they also have a long way to go before taking back power from these elites. But at least they know that this is possible.
