proeast: It is in the Constitution and it is the same in Alaigbo if you sell your father's land it will revert to his heirs after 99 years. It was put in the Constitution to make sure no Tribe could be dispossessed of their ancestral heritage. Land rent is paid every year of the 99 year leasehold to the Landowners. Royalties ( Land rent) is paid because the Land doesn't belong to you. Even in the Bible the Jews never sold ancestral lands they could lease it or give loyal foreigners who settled among them land but they could not sell it . In NIgeria it is the protection mechanism by which the rich are prevented from dispossessing the poor of their ancestral Lands and heritage and to keep the larger Tribes from dispossessing smaller tribes of their ancestral Land. Proeast Think about this: If a Northern Politician loots the national treasury and through some crooked Eze's and corrupt uncles buys your entire village and they use the money to drink Sapele Water (Christ forbid) your Children will still get the village back after 99 years because it is part of their ancestral inheritance. Africans value their ancestral Lands even above money. |

vicenzo: Honestly, at first, I used to overlook the false sense of importance of these minorities until recently. I have taken it as a personal task to be knocking sense into their empty heads. Imagine these minorities feeling funky. Who in his right senses will advocate for such a Babel society to join Igbos in Biafra. So, others would exploit their oil for over 50 years when oil was hotcake and use the proceeds to develop Abuja and Lagos, only for them to handover the world's most polluted environment with frustrated inhabitants to us No, we are smarter than that 5 Likes |

Christistruth00: What are you even arguing? If you check my signature you will see that I'm into estate management and I'm informed about this issue. That law is based on the 1978 land use act. Once a land owner sells a land, that land is forever gone except for one reason or another you're able to buy it back in the future, and of course with the new owner willing to sell it back to you. The 1978 land use act stipulated that all lands are under the authority of state governments. After 99 years, it is the state government that the buyer will pay royalty/renewal fees to and not the original seller. The buyer no longer has any business with him! Does it even make sense to you that someone will buy a virgin land and develop it only for the previous owner to reclaim it after 99 years My brother, please go and hustle like the Igbos so you can buy your own properties. It is only a criminal that will be hoping to take back a land he sold and collected money for. 3 Likes |

Proeast2: It happened because many Igbo nationalist kept quiet until IPOB vocal minority voice assumed the voice of Ndiigbo. If you run referendum in Igboland today, majority would choose Nigeria over a mini Nigeria with these minorities. Its either Igbo only country or we stay in Nigeria and finish the oil together. Its about time Ndiigbo make our voice known. Left for IPOB , they will eat shit and drink urine from these minorities as well as denigrate Ndiigbo in their misguided pursuit of doomed tower of Babel ethnic heterogeneous Biafra! 2 Likes |

Proeast2: You just confirmed you don't know Nigerian Land Law. You buy Land on a 99 year Leasehold. On Lagos Island even the Land Purchased by the Colonial government and held by Federal Govt [Ikoyi] was repossessed after 99 years by the Onikoyi Royal family who were the Original landowners of Ikoyi. Except the landowners let you renew the lease by paying for the land again. Why do you think those with Abandoned properties in Port Harcourt after the War were unable to reclaim the properties through the Courts? The Rivers State Government(Owner ) revoked the claims on the land The State Government only holds the Land in Trust for the Original landowners. So you don't know that it is because of the 1978 land law that your Villagers have the right to chase Fulani herdsmen off land they have paid for and return the money? It is a leasehold which can be revoked! How would you like it if Buhari looted the National Treasury and bought all of Imo State with a 99.5% discount and on Freehold for himself his tribe and his descendants sold by Gov Hope Uzodima after guaranteeing Uzsodima a 2nd term in Office ( Christ forbid) On leasehold as the original landowners you can revoke the Sale Do you think that desperate greedy Governors wouldn't sell their half their States on Freehold for a 2nd term in Office. 2 Likes

Christistruth00: I hate blind argument. I repeat, once a land is sold, the buyer has no business with the seller again. The land now belongs to him and is totally irreversible except you want to buy it back and the new owner is willing to resell to you. However, after 99 years, the buyer will then apply to the state government for renewal, HE WILL NOT APPLY TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER!! So, tell me how you will repossess the lands you sold after 99 years? Check information below 5 Likes

Proeast2: The Land title remains with the Original landowners. The State Government hold s Land only as a Trustee of the Original Owners. Omoniles in Lagos are reclaiming land from expired leaseholds almost daily. That is what has kept the Lagos White Cap Yoruba Awori Chief's stupendously Wealthy. Imagine one family (Oniru) owning almost all the Land of Victoria Island ,which by the way was repossessed from the Federal government after the lease acquired by tbe British in the 1880s expired. Another Family (Aromire )owns Isale Eko a d half of Lavos Island . Another family Owns Ikeja 1 Like |

Christistruth00: You see where you're making mistake. Foreigners are not legally permitted to own lands in Nigeria and that was why the Federal government could repossess it. Show me any example where lands bought by Nigerians were repossessed after 99 years. 4 Likes |

Proeast2: All of Ikoyi ,Victoria Island, Apapa, lagos Island ,Ojora ,many more they had to repay for another 99 year leasehold or the buildings were taken over and demolished The indigenous Omonile Landowner families of Lagos are so stupendously wealthy and the Land still belongs to them.! 1 Like |

Sinzumoney:In the physical mind Ikwerre are Igbos, they have Igbo DNA in them. Their culture, language, dressing, food etc are similar to Igbo's, but in the spiritual aspect they are not Igbos, because the day they denied being Igbo was the day the Spiritual bond was broken. For instance, if a man disowned his son he will still have the DNA of the family, but the spirit of the family is no longer with him. Every spiritual aspect of Igbos is no longer with Ikwerres that's why you can't compare them with Igbos in human endeavors. Any day they come together and ask for forgiveness and acceptance the spiritual bond will reconnect and they will be competing with the rest of Igbos. If you take closer look at them you will be surprise to know that there is a different between those accepted their Igboness among them. 1 Like |

Christistruth00: I asked you to show me just any example where lands/buildings was reclaimed after 99 years yet you can't. You claim it is happening everywhere yet you can't show even one example. I even gave you facts about the law here only for you to be talking about oniru and omonile whatever. Is the oniru or omonile greater than the law? I'm done with this argument because it's obvious you have lost it. 4 Likes |

Proeast2: I just did (All of old Lagos built before 1920 )but your ego needs to be put in check. Sorry to upset you but the Land Use Act of 1978 Protects the rights of Minorities and other Ethnic groups to their ancestral Lands. After 99 years leasehold it is theirs again . The State Govt holds the land in Trust for them. It is not all about hustling. Even God lead the Israelites to a promised Land that flowed with milk and honey after they had hustled for 400 years in Egypt. Besides won't you be in Biafra by the time the 99 year leasehold expires . Why are you fighting over the Nigerian land leasehold period ? Thank God you realised you lost the argument completely. https://iclg.com/practice-areas/real-estate-laws-and-regulations/nigeria https://www.google.co.uk/url?q=https://nairametrics.com/2020/08/18/what-happens-after-the-expiration-of-the-99-years-lease-term-for-land/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwi50cqTxaPsAhWwRBUIHRHNAz4QFjAAegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw20C6mhdCSGUD7kltvB0u14 |
