LTGEN: Actually,no,imo, here's why. They'd be eager to do a TOT. I know for a fact Paramount is ready to set up a plant for TOT for any serious foreign buyer. You need CAS NOW! If you'd begun discussions early last year your first Mwaris would be ready-but you're stuck still waiting for Tucs to be delivered in another 2 years. 2 Likes |

chkil1: Fyi, the Landcruiser 75 series is accepted as the most reliable 4wd by those who know! Its for placed WITH NO ROADS like driving across the DRC or neighbouring CAR. Iow, places where Landrovers, Cherokees and Range Rovers will just cry and immediately seize. The Chadians used them so effectively against the Libyans the 87 war was called the Toyota war. This is a typical Landcruiser 75 role, an Aussie army vehicle patrol on Bougainville island. 1 Like

kabe1: A SUB!? Yes, you can pick up a Kilo for that price but running costs which EVERYONE either ignores of forgets is 16 mn annually. Also 1 sub with its heavy maintenance/training/ ops cycle is meaningless. To account for the latter you'd need minimum 3 subs which would necessitate construction of a Shore Based Sub Support Facility for repair, maintainence and testing. This ofc is financially akin to buying a 4th sub. There's no escaping this critical sub support infrastructure which is why the Saffas and Algerians each have their own. 5 Likes |

kikuyu1: Calm down, there is nothing in buying a submarine. If South-Africa can afford it, so can Nigeria. The reason why the Nigerian navy hasn't but any is because of other urgent requirements and threat assessment. |

kabe1: How sure are you of this? Do you have FACTS and figured for discussion? HAVE you compared individual army tactics , doctrines, working platforms, battlefield success and/or per capita spend per soldier? Out of curiosity WHY do YOU say Ethiopia? I know someone who interacted closely with them and HIS studies were INTERESTING! Do you know what happened to ENDF units that barged into Mog' 2007? 1 Like |

That's how things get muddy, a soldier threatening to charge a police officer, under what authority? Unless war was declared in that area or zone, the sole Authority btw those two men, is the police officer, not the soldier. But of course in Nigeria who the fvk cares about such. In sane countries, soldiers have zero authority in civilian areas and on the street, unless they were deployed there under state of emergency seankafor: 1 Like |

And how did you know i would be the 1st? you don't know me. I'm saying each branch of Nigeria's security apparatus should have a clear responsibility, under the law. You missed that part? That's why you have soldiers and cops always fighting in major cities, good luck with that though LTGEN: |

Sizzorkay:Alaye firstly if the police could do their work, why was the military involved in it. Secondly we all know any little chance the police will overuse it, the officer didn't do anything wrong correcting him. brutality isn't everything but dialogue, there are cases of nig police officers using dialogue to calm down situations. 4 Likes |

Doesn't change the point i was making, chain of command, if those cops are there, in better countries, those cops will have commanders on scene, without soldiers getting involved, or deployed. So the issue isn't even about the poor cops, it's the fact that they don't have senior police officers there to lead those cops. Still, soldiers can't charge cops, i doubt that even happen in Nigeria, he doesn't have the power Mulatta: 1 Like |

Sizzorkay:Too bad this is nigeria, the chain of command here is military first, police later. Even in other better countries so far the military has been involved the police have to stay on the bench. The issue should be, the nigeria police should learn to be professional so that they don't get to involve the military. Do your job everyone will be happy gaskiani |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 11:53pm On Oct 24, 2020 |
Sizzorkay: In many other developed countries, once the military comes in, they take over, but suspects as it's done in Nigeria also are handed over to the police for prosecution. The soldier did not say he was charging the police officer, he clearly said he would report the police officer to force headquarters for disciplinary action to be taken. He(soldier) also asked one of the guys with him to start filming the interaction so as to be used as evidence. I really don't see what you're complaining about. As it is, from reports, there is a near total break down of law & order in Nigeria. The military and security agencies have to act fast. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Sizzorkay: You first need to understand the climate, the police are currently overwhelmed. Besides the laws regarding these sorts of engagement is clear, the soldier stepped in to douse an already tensed situation. |

Sizzorkay:The police officer is an ACP (Assistant commissioner of police) who was clearly leading the cops there while the Airforce officer is an Air Commodore. |
