I'm more concerned about how you have totally shifted the blame of the Massacre rumors from the government to the people. Now let me give a breakdown of the events on that day, and tell me why the people shouldn't believe a massacre happened, or even if it didn't, why the government shouldn't be blamed

-Sanwo-olu imposed a curfew at 4pm but shifted it to 8pm
- The NA arrived at the Toll gate before 8pm and starting shooting (You and I agree to this)
-The LASG came online around 10pm and denied the event, promising to investigate
-Sanwo olu came the next morning stating that he never ordered the Army to do so
-The NA gave three conflicting reports that the video was fake, and then it was photoshopped, and then they were instructed by Sanwo-olu to do that, and then again, it was blanks that was fired

All what I typed up there are all in Nairaland to see. It's devoid of eye witnesses and rumours

So how do you expect people to just believe that nothing happened, when the government itself has given enough reasons for anyone to believe it happened

Like I said, my worries are not whether the massacre is a lie or not. It's about how people with the same thoughts as you quickly jump to debunk it like that's the main issue.

The government was not plain and sincere from the beginning. You should spend more time talking about that

Maybe you need to go and read all my post on this subject matter from the beginning to the end before you start drawing inference that doesn’t correlate.

It’s even laughable the way you skip pass my answer to your question to start talking about what government said or has not said. As if that’s the bone of contention.

As at today 11/18/2020, it is easy to prove human rights violations against the Nigerian Army than trying to prove they committed massacre at Lekki tollgate. There are no evidence to prove a massacre happened.

The fact is Soldiers were at the Lekki tollgate, soldiers opened fire and there are 2 confirmed death and several injured. It is that human rights violation angle that the Lagos State Judicial panel should be focusing on so as to get justice for those that died and compensation for those that were injured but rather we are trying to prove that a massacre happened or not.

If I still have to break this down for you, maybe you should tell me your local language and I should post in it because I don’t understand what’s hard to understand in my post.

Maybe you should watch the video again. The lady clearly said the soldiers were shooting sporadically into the air. She said it twice.

She also said they shot for more than 20mins and they left the scene after about 30mins later.

All other account of the event said the army came and started shooting at protesters. What with the bbc reporter said she witness, we can say those other account is a lie and what she said tally with what the General said at the Judicial panel.

They didn’t spend few mins there, they spent almost half of the time the military spent there and she confirmed they were shooting in the air. Nowhere in that almost 5mins video did she remotely say the military shoot directly at people.

For emphasis, I will say it again that she said it TWICE that the soldiers were shooting in the air.

Like I said earlier, nothing will change your view that no massacre happened and that’s ok. You are free to hold whatever opinion you like. Truth is fact doesn’t support any claim that massacre happened.

She first claimed more than 72 people were killed

, then she claimed 12 people were killed then she claimed she’s not sure of the total number of people killed but she singlehandedly carried 7 dead bodies and dropped it at the feet of the soldiers? Which account exactly do you want me to believe?

Meanwhile there’s another eye witness account who actually carried people to the hospital who claimed he didn’t see any bodies and he only evacuated those injured to the hospital.

Let me make my point very clear. The event of Oct 20 (whether Army shot to the air or not) is enough ground to accuse the army of abuse of human rights violations without exaggerations.

Govt are experts in using subterfuge and you cannot use lies to push truth. What govt does is attack the lies and in one full scope label both the lies and the truth fake news. There was no need to claim a massacre happened when there was no evidence of it. The arrays of pics of the supposed massacre that littered social media that night and the following morning were debunked to be fake news and thus the govt got the perfect cover to shift the focus away from the human rights violation to the authenticity or otherwise of the various claims arising.

That’s what I and Ibime have been trying to point out to you. Now the Lagos State Judicial panel of inquiry has shifted focus to the event of the Lekki tollgate and most of it is trying to prove whether a massacre happened or not and at the end of the day if it was later confirmed that no massacre took place, the military would have shifted the focus away from their officers involved in the shootings.

If you refer back to the discussion I had with airmark on the night of the shootings, I told air.mark that I believe the army were at the scene of the shootings and for a military that has several records of human rights abuse, it doesn’t need to add exaggeration to nail them but now they have the perfect cover to escape “human rights violations” against its officers. (That’s if they are not found guilty).


Meanwhile injecting party and loyalty whatever into your argument every now and then doesn’t make you smart or more logical.
