Stan2330:Tell em bruv! I even thought his agitation was on something more reasonable! mtchewwww..... so if its an emergency which needs student's attention and in other angle needs to save the patient's live, they should Bureaucratically be looking for the consent of the family ahbi?? |

The patient’s consent is still needed. And if the patient says no, the student has no choice but to excuse themselves from that examination. It sucks but patient autonomy comes first. Stan2330: eyinjuege: |

They are Heartless ,They Prefers using a very sick person case to Teach Students rather than Taking care if the Patient .That was how I lost a dear one some Years ago at Lasuth Ikeja .She was dying and the Doctor was just using her to describe a Medical case . |

Lost my grandma back in 2015 in LUTH. Saw student doctors working on my grandma and prescribing drugs and test... So painful. Has anyone ever investigated the number of deaths when or immediately after Nigerian doctors/nurses go on strike...its alarming? lalasticlala: |

COdeGenesis: I understand your point of view But i doubt if any patient would give his/her consent to such..and i think(I stand to be corrected) it's part of any teaching hospital policy to expose her students to practicals(that's why it's teaching hospital). Anyways, to avoid such, it is better to avoid teaching hospitals. |

Reading comments on some posts, I think that we deserve the kind of leaders that we have. Consent is important in everything, written or implied. Coming to the hospital ( Teaching hospital inclusive) does not mean, you rights are burnt. You can exercise your rights at any point of the hospital journey. You can voice your preference at any point, like you want a male or female to examine you. If you are discriminated against or denied anything because you chose to exercise your right or preference. You have a ground to sue. For the Professionals in healthcare, aside consent always ask for a Chaperone when dealing with Service users especially the opposite gender. It is for your protection, not the other way. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Dinieoj:How will young doctors learn if everybody start politely objecting? Nigerians should learn to sacrifice things for the sake of humanity. In other countries, people give out all their organs at the point of death. And it has helped in saving lives within their countries. In Nigeria, any small transplant is India. The organs are not in the country. If we can't even spare our privacy for the sake of science, is it organs we will donate? |

Stan2330:you are wrong. Consent of the patients is very important. Patients should be compensated if they are used for teaching medical students or for clinical examinations. 1 Like 1 Share |

Same thing once happened to me in a private hospital when I went for appendix operation. By the time of shaving the stomach and manhood area, the ladies all surrounded me while one held man TIN and they were all smiling. I vexed inside but was helpless. 1 Like |
