God bless you brother but me mindful of most impostors here... many of them aren't even Igbo but come here to sow seeds of discord among brothers with fake accounts, I've busted lots of them here before.

I think it's far more than social networking. To bridge this divide we would need the aid from cultural groups in various Igbo speaking groups, Traditional rulers and the influential individuals from these groups to work together.
From conversations I have had with elderly people from Anioma, they seem to blame the South East Igbos for abandoning them after the end of the war even though they suffered the most (Asaba massacre). Others like the Ikwerres of Elele who I have been opportune to talk to, feel that they wouldn't find their bearings if they return to being one with the South East Igbos.
That's why all the aforementioned people can be the ones to make the first move to bridge the divide before people like me and you can come in.
Insightful stuff, hopefully some reconciliation of grievances and healing of old wounds becomes the initiative the bridge the gap. So which Igbo speaking parts of Rivers state strongly identify with their Igbo roots with their Igbo roots? I know the Ikwerre situation is probably irredeemable at this point.

The truth is
The Delta ibos except some few communites in Ika
And the numerous Igbos like etche, omuma, oyibo e.t c (excluding ikwerre) have never denied there igboness even here on Nairaland
The people who always shout there are no Igbos in South/south are the ikwerres and the ijaws (with the other minorities tribe in SS) especially the ijaws who feels so much insecured about Igbos in ss (maybe becose of the Niger Delta republic dream which the wants to create with the same Igbos in SS)
And the are just the loudest, check anyone who says the are no Igbos in SS it must definitely be an ijaw man or something an ikwerre man,
Go to there Facebook group, infact everywhere the Only thing the discuss is anti Igbo,

The Igbos Rivers aside ikwerre and the ones in Delta aside Ika are very pro Igbo even here on Nairaland
Check out cjrane and co, even the other woman from Delta
So Igbos from SE should stop generalizing Igbo denials to all Igbos in SS
I could remember some years Igbo the current Delta state governor promised to make Igbo language compulsory in all school across Delta North (Delta Igbo).
Infact onistha and Asaba speaks the same language and are the same people, just separate by state creation..

So Igbos in South south are always pro Igbos
The online trolls mostly comes from other minorities tribe in SS who are insecured about there region
The yoruba people who also says there are no Igbos in SS are just ignorant or just doing for trolls

My friend stop saying nonsense here. Why didnt asaba support biafra during d civil war rather they supported Nigeria but still Murtala Mohammed dealth with them

Ehen no problem, this equally means you don't need the votes of igbos in the south south too.

Some kind of statements by so called elder statesmen reeks of stupidity.
Do south south votes really win presidental elections? Why didnt it save Jonathan? Sharap there

I know for a fact that the Etche/Omuma don't deny their Igbo ancestry, the Ogbas/Egbema/Ndoni don't also deny it although they seem to have a neutral tone about it, and those from Oyibo embrace it fully without denial.

Not all Ikwerres deny their Igbo ancestry, the same way not all Anioma deny their Igbo ancestry. We should be looking at knowing the percentage of these two groups that are pro-Igbo, if the percentage is high then we wouldn't face much issues reconciling them with their original Identity.

You ain't different in any way from Anyim who made that reckless statement. Yes,reckless statement in the sense that it is capable of hurting Igbo, politically. You see, you're the one that's blinded by emotions here because there is no where in my statement where I did say or suggest that south east slot should be given to south south.

The point I made was very simple : there was no need for Anyim to utter that statement. There is wisdom in silence often times. Assuming the presidency is eventually zoned to the south east, won't you need the votes of these same Igbo people outside of the south east geopolitical zone ? Won't you need the votes of the Ikweres,Ikas,Aniomas etc. How do you think they will feel about Anyim's statement now - brotherly, friendly ? He has rejected those people politically with that reckless statement of his !

Now what makes you think an Ika, Ikwere or Anioma man can't become the President of this county in 2023 ? With Anyim's statement now, would you blame such a man if he refuses to identify with Igbo people ? Clearly, you're one of those shallow minded people that are saying the new CDS Irabor Nduka is not an Igbo man even though the gentleman speaks impeccable Igbo language as his mother's tongue !

Mr Logic, since the day you guys have been applying the so called logic in your political manoeuvering, has it ever worked for you ? Yoruba people don't make reckless statement that will later hurt one of their own,be it Okun,Olukumi,Itshekiri or whoever !

My point is that you guys can keep quiet while you still achieve whatever goals you set for yourself. You talk too much !

Well said.

don’t mess with Igbos .... they are still the richest in Nigeria despite FG Marginalization

None of them is on forbes or Bloomberg list of billionaires. There are 3 or 4 Nigerians on that list and none is Igbo.

Real billionaires don't declare their assets just to get mentions on Forbes and Bloomberg or have their net worth information out for public scrutiny, dem full Naija and they prefer to just stay lowkey for various reasons.

Oh! What you are saying is that those who came after Ironsi were not interested in doing better than Ironsi? They were interested in doing worse than him? grin grin grin

You people will not kill me with laughter

Before Ironsi came, we had the best system upon which no one needed to do any better. However, Ironsi's destruction of that system signalled to the others that Igbos will never allow any just and equitable system be, so no one cared about doing better any more.
