bash8936: I don't understand Haven't Igbos and other ethnic groups always enjoyed a progressive type of freedom in Lagos? Even going back to the return of slaves from Freetown in the 1800s when many people who were not even ethnic Yoruba settled in Lagos with their slave names, learnt Yoruba and now their family names woven into the history of Lagos from thereon. You are making it sound as if it all wasn't possible until Tinubu accommodated them. What does that even mean? Let me tell you, the only region that makes fellow Nigerians feel like proper foreigners is the Northern region. People from other ethnic groups live and work freely in PH, Warri, Benin, Uyo, Enugu, Owerri, Calabar, Asaba, Sapele, Makurdi, etc. The reason why more and most people flood to Lagos is because there are more opportunities there. You almost have no choice. The 2 functioning (federal built & owned) seaports we have in this country is located there. The only truly (federal built & owned) International gateway MMIA Airport is located there. As we speak, Africa's largest refinery is being built there (we all know Dangote is FG ). Until 1991 Lagos was the federal capital of Nigeria so all roads lead there. 1 Like |

bash8936:Stop talking trash Igbos have been existing and making it in Lagos before Tinubu's 1999 governornish reign. Yorubas fought in a civil war for igbos to be in Lagos because of our value. Have you forgotten how igbos were treated during the elections by your Tinubu. Another Tinubu stooge threatened to push them into the lagoon. Before the advent of Tinubu, Igbos progressed more in Lagos. Igbos won up to house of reps in Lagos but now he rigged them all out. I repeat igbos will suffer more if Tinubu becomes president. 1 Like |

Oshigun:He I not different from tinubu. He turned funsho Williams down for greedy folk Like tinubu. One way or the other they end up assasinating funsho Williams You call him sell out for supporting atiku, i call tinubu sell out for supporting buhari . Now he support restructuring and no election in 2023 but tinubu support this government and wants 2023 to rule. Tinubu Is betrayal of the Yoruba race. A constitution that don't give power to the people want to be maintained by greedy politicians like osibanjo/tinubu . Yoruba land cant be like the north where they support evil and remain backward. If people claim jakande was left behind because of abacha. Then tinubu will be forgotten because of buhari and his silence . yorubas are not coward. We want odua nation and no more nigeria 2 Likes |

Lagos is very poor and has been looted seriously by tinubu . open your brain and eyes. No more election in this country we want odua republic. We can't continue supporting criminals because the north does that also. |

Papa I don’t agree with you. He has always been an advocate of fiscal federalism and restructuring. All his disciples believe the same including Osinbajo. Except that they are powerless to do that now. |

kayjay69:Lets even speak the truth. It was never tinubu vs atiku The election was between two fulanis atiku vs buhari Both yorubas took side shamelessly . and now one is talking about restructuring the other one is planning on becoming president. Tinubu is the latest betrayal of Yoruba race. |

drlateef:I don't think you heard osinbanjo statement recently on restructuring. The truth is when you get the power the mindset changes. Anyone that can't openly speak to his people his an hypocrite and should never be trusted. Tinubu anti democratic act in Lagos as giving him off of what we should be expecting from him as president. Imposing candidate and sharing money on election eve. These things as made Lagos situation bad. Don't come here to do comparison of Lagos. Instead of comparing Lagos , look at the situation of Lagos. |

MrNipplesLover:Restructuring is the key. I've recently thought of maybe "tinubu should just be" but as a bonafide lagosians anytime I see APC politics structure in Lagos I detest that IDEA . The only way is odua nation. Trust me if Yoruba and igbos comeout in mass for odua/ Biafra peaceful walk. The north will shiver and do the needful restructuring. Then we won't have to support corrupt individual for national power agenda. Each region will concentrate on inward development 1 Like |

Re: 2023: Tinubu Won’t Restructure Nigeria If He Becomes President — Ayo Adebanjo by drlateef: 1:33pm On Feb 17, 2021 |
Lagoon0: You should search internet for Osinbajo’s comments a few months ago regarding restructuring. He took us down memory Lane about how he fought federal government up to Supreme Court level to have fiscal federalism when he was attorney general of Lagos. He believes in all these things but his hands are chained when he is not the president. Buhari and his friends do not believe in fiscal federalism and restructuring. Otherwise he would have sent bills to National Assembly to change these things. And they will not resign because it’s better to fight the battle from inside. These Tinubu boys are planted in Buhari government to ensure that they are not schemed out of leadership until they get in control finally. As regards Lagos, you just need to look around other states and you will see that Lagos is the most developed. If Lagos had been under PDP for the past 20 years, there would not have been any development in Lagos. The evidence is found in States like Rivers state where PDP have always ruled with the largest federal income every year. Is Rivers as developed as Lagos. Tinubu faught Obasanjo to a standstill and prevented PDP from entering Lagos because he knows they loot and will not develop Lagos. At that time, Obasonjo took all the states except Lagos in southwest. Tinubu will make sure that he wins for the people, using the money that PDP uses but in a better way than PDP. He continues to ensure that progressives win elections in Southwest so that they can bring development to the people. That’s where he is different from other corrupt politicians. |

drlateef: At bolded has always been a weak defense for tinubu for me. Lagos during time of jakande and the rest was also better than other state. Computerization of tax collection and increase IGR , tinubu should be commended just like pa lateef jakade. Lagos has not been faring well from the days of fashola due to heavy corruption in Lagos state. As an educated yoruba and bonafide lagosian I don't need to go to Ogun state to know my state has problem. Go and check the GDP per capital income of Lagos state you'll notice many African state are far richer than Lagos state. We're moving like snail but because we live in a blind city you think its progressive. Lagos can do far Better than this, we need transparency in our budget and tax income. We don't want dictator , who knows we might have gotten another awolowo if the peoples choice becomes the governor. When it comes to Yoruba race don't bring PDP or APC issues up. Yoruba remains Yoruba despite party difference. Or are you going to justify funsho Williams death because he's not APC? Nobody should turn yorubas to APC party its a matter of what favors the people not blind loyalist. |

Lagoon0: If you are looking for accountability I am with you. If you believe that we could be faster in developing it’s possible and I agree with you. Two issues arise: first of all, Lagos is doing far better than any state in Nigeria. Others are doing catch up, like Bornu etc. But when you compare the resources of Rivers and Lagos for example we are far better. And there must be a benchmark for comparison, you cannot compare in isolation. And I stand to be corrected, no PDP state has been well managed like Lagos. You state that some cities or states in Africa are better, give me examples. Lagos the fifth largest economy in Africa. Which cities have larger economies than Lagos in Africa? Please stop giving false information when you debate. All evidence is on internet. |

drlateef: I think you need to know that GDP per capital income defines the economy of a state. Lagos being the fifth largest economy don't have the best economy compared to other African state. I'm a scientist and I know these things. Thats why I say lagosians are far more educated for weak comparison . I'll screenshot some 2019 /2018 stat

Lagoon0: We all know these terminologies. That’s why we went to school and that’s why we read statistics. You can always interprete figures to suit your argument. The richest is different from the best, and the best is different from the biggest. Mean is different from median and mode. But you cannot disagree it is the fifth biggest economy just like Nigeria being the biggest economy. We all know that South Africa enjoys a higher quality of life and they are richer. |
Re: 2023: Tinubu Won’t Restructure Nigeria If He Becomes President — Ayo Adebanjo by Lagoon0: 3:07pm On Feb 17, 2021 |
drlateef: So its very simple Lagos can do better with its GDP but we're not. This is not time for clapping hands for politicians instead we're supposed to struggle for the best not comparison with states with different ideologies. I maintain my stand the APC dealership style is dragging Lagos slower. Lagos has an unimaginable capacity if corruption is reduced to %10 percent. If we have odua nation a transparent economy could cater to the lapses of other southwest state not a "baba sope economy" |
Re: 2023: Tinubu Won’t Restructure Nigeria If He Becomes President — Ayo Adebanjo by kayjay69(m): 3:18pm On Feb 17, 2021 |
To be honest, any leader that is willing to pay the cost both politically and probably mortally, can restructure Nigeria. I believe Obasanjo had two opportunities, in 1979 (not directly but he could have allowed for a free and fair election which he clearly did not) and between 1999 and 2007. He had the clout, He had the power, He sure as hell had the authority to do it but he chose to prioritise making himself a lifetime king. A wasted opportunity I must say. Now we both know based on his antecedents, Tinubu can never restructure Nigeria. If he does ascend to the Presidency, he will have made too many deals and I know he will want to keep most if not all of them in a bid to assure him a second term. These deals will never be to the benefit of the average Nigerian talk less of the average Yoruba people. Will Tinubu be better than Buhari? At this stage, a tree will be better than Buhari. But will Nigeria's problems persist, you bet they will and may even take a different turn for the worse (who knows what tomorrow holds really). Only by restructuring (and I even think as days turn into months and months into years, restructuring is becoming less and less of an option, splitting is becoming the only practical solution) can we all have a chance of determining our futures. I think this is an unbiased view and I believe you will agree. LegendHero: 1 Like |

Khaleepha5681:He is right .When Nnamdi Kanu was up and about insulting other tribes and trying to incite the East against the rest of Nigerians , he got a backlash from not only the eastern leaders and politicians from the rest of the south .But it not like that with the north .The north world rather dig thier head in the sand in other not to hear of the atrocities commited by thier people and still backlash the victims for defending themselves . The Fulanis are bolder and more daring & doing whatever they want in other people land becos thier kin is in power .Your leaders and politicians are all complicit through thier various comment in turning the whole thing upside down . Northerners ,especially ur elite and politicians are not disturbed about the killing, raping & kidnapping by the Fulanis' In the south but they became were very vocal when people started fighting back and asking the Fulanis to leave thier forest . You people are terrible ..you should live with urselves . |
