Aphrodite007:It's not about being ungrateful. Sometimes if you undersell yourself, it's very difficult to recover except you leave for another company. During my time, low paying graduate jobs in my industry were paying £26k while some were paying £40k. This was almost 10 years ago. I do not see anything wrong with the person raising an eyebrow about the pay. He/she was probably trying to gauge opinion on the salary. I thought my pay was okay since it was similar to my earnings in Nigeria but because I hadn't worked in the UK before, I didn't know much about the cost of living and taxation. 7 Likes |

dustydee: KEY WORD: 'In My Industry' Do you have an idea what a Senior Lecturer in a University, with a PhD earns? Any ideas how much a Band 6/7 Nurse in the NHS earns? Those primary school teachers that teach your children (assuming the little ones attend state schools), do you have an idea of their pay? 2 Likes |

RalphJean: Spot on @sweetjusty If you think 25k starting is small for you, look for the market rate elsewhere or try USA,Canada or Australia 1 Like |

Sweetjusty:From her statements, I think the woman has already made up her mind that 25k is too small for her, so lets leave it at that..... She needs help with nearby affordable cities and towns around Manchester that are easy for commuting to work.... if you live around Manchester or you know the area please show her some love. Madam as someone earlier advice, It might be best if you come first and bring you family afterwards so you can acclimatise yourself with the environment and schools for your children before moving them over. But it’s entirely up to you. I know a family that came with all the family at once and they are now settled. It’s your call. All the best |

I don't think @sweetjusty is saying s/he has got a job. I believe the poster was quoting @zeb04 and did not quote the original poster who actually got a job (ref page 545) properly to request how he got the job. So I think this poster @sweetjusty is simply requesting how to apply and secure a role to become an embryologist and not actually indicating a job has been secured. The two posts are identical and I feel wasn't edited/quoted properly lol. 8 Likes |

humblemoi: Even the original poster deserves a rebuke! Instead of asking how he could manage on £25000 with a family. He is telling us that the money is not enough. How is that really relevant? If the money is not enough, then don't take the job. As for the mention of underselling oneself, what has that got to do with it? They offer you a job with a particular salary - you either take it or leave or if brave or stupid, you can ask for more money... In a situation where you are starting as a junior embryologist and let them know that it is only money you are interested in. What is the average salary of an embryologist - take the top ones and the new starters - it is not more than £35000... People need to word their questions better - simples! 4 Likes |

It is quite interesting how education is different across the four nations (due to devolved powers). My son was born in mid July 2013, he is 7 and currently in P3. My friend's son born in mid January 2014 is also in P3. In Scotland 1st of March 2013 - 28th February 2014 is P3 and 1st of March 2014 - 28th February 2015 is P2 P1 is basically 4.5 to 5.5 year old. We also have P7 in primary school which England doesn't have. Parents of kids born after September can request for them to start the following year if you don't think they are ready for school. dustydee: You’re right. And you even said it yourself. You hadn’t worked in the UK before (same with the poster), and that was your starting job right? (Same with this poster too). I’m sure you earn far more now. But you started small. Also, within just 3 years I earn a lot more, my humble beginnings didn’t stop me from earning more. Finally, we advised the person with sincerity, if the salary is too small they shouldn’t have accepted the job. It’s wrong for them to accept a salary that’s beneath them. |

Goodevening Guys. A friend of mine. She is a Geophysicist and wants to work in the UK. What are the steps to go about it and what sites can she apply for a job Thanks |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by RalphJean: 12:30am On Feb 27, 2021 |
Adapapaokoye: Is she a Geophysicist because she obtained a 3 or 4 year degree in GeoPhysics? Or is she a Geophysicist because she is a practicing a Geophysicist? I ask because you know, there is a difference between Philosopher and graduate of philosophy. In any case, Indeed.com Totaljobs Reed.com CVlibrary Etc are a good place to start. 2 Likes |

Hi guys. I need some answers please. On License, name is - George Getty Gerry On passport it's - George Getty Gerry However, on notification of result from NMCN , it's written Gerry Getty George Tried renewing license online and it says - RN number doesn't match surname. What can be done? Also, can this different name arrangement cause any issue with NMC UK? Thanks in advance |

quivah: In UK it usually first name, middle name and last name so definitely on license/ passport the surname/last name is Gerry and first name is George while NMCN the last name is George and first name is Gerry so using a computer system this would flag as two different people.....for sure Gerry George and George Gerry typically not the same person How to correct i have no clue but I can see why a system won't recognise this as same person 2 Likes |

LagosismyHome:Hi. On license and passport, it's the last name first. George Getty Gerry On notification of result, it's then first name; Gerry Getty George. The issue is the name arrangement on the notification of cert from NMCN. Name on every other doc is Last middle first(George Getty Gerry) |
