Your willingness to leave Nigeria is the motivating factor here, if you are not ready no amount will be good enough for you.

25k before tax is enough, though a stepping stone if you feel you deserve better.
You come in, stay like 3months to get settled before your family comes.

From my little experience,
$1000 can take care of a month rent plus bills
$400 for feeding @$100 weekly
$100 for a month transport
Balance of $400 or more
Above is for a small family in northern England
If you are flamboyant, like hushpupi kinda, am afraid it may not be enough.

I am an embryologist, and i just got a job with a Hospital in Manchester after doing series of interview.

the starting salary is 25k annually which i consider small for me.

I would like to find out the best city to stay,( within a 30mins radius to Manchester) because i dont think i can live in the city center with that amount. also do you advise i bring my family immediately? will that salary be enough for us.

From her statements, I think the woman has already made up her mind that 25k is too small for her, so lets leave it at that.....
She needs help with nearby affordable cities and towns around Manchester that are easy for commuting to work....
if you live around Manchester or you know the area please show her some love.

Madam as someone earlier advice, It might be best if you come first and bring you family afterwards so you can acclimatise yourself with the environment and schools for your children before moving them over. But it’s entirely up to you. I know a family that came with all the family at once and they are now settled. It’s your call. All the best

Even the original poster deserves a rebuke! Instead of asking how he could manage on £25000 with a family. He is telling us that the money is not enough. How is that really relevant?

If the money is not enough, then don't take the job. As for the mention of underselling oneself, what has that got to do with it? They offer you a job with a particular salary - you either take it or leave or if brave or stupid, you can ask for more money... In a situation where you are starting as a junior embryologist and let them know that it is only money you are interested in.

What is the average salary of an embryologist - take the top ones and the new starters - it is not more than £35000...

It is quite interesting how education is different across the four nations (due to devolved powers). My son was born in mid July 2013, he is 7 and currently in P3. My friend's son born in mid January 2014 is also in P3.

In Scotland 1st of March 2013 - 28th February 2014 is P3 and 1st of March 2014 - 28th February 2015 is P2

P1 is basically 4.5 to 5.5 year old.

We also have P7 in primary school which England doesn't have.

Parents of kids born after September can request for them to start the following year if you don't think they are ready for school.

You’re right. And you even said it yourself. You hadn’t worked in the UK before (same with the poster), and that was your starting job right? (Same with this poster too).

I’m sure you earn far more now. But you started small. Also, within just 3 years I earn a lot more, my humble beginnings didn’t stop me from earning more. Finally, we advised the person with sincerity, if the salary is too small they shouldn’t have accepted the job. It’s wrong for them to accept a salary that’s beneath them.

In UK it usually first name, middle name and last name so definitely on license/ passport the surname/last name is Gerry and first name is George while NMCN the last name is George and first name is Gerry so using a computer system this would flag as two different people.....for sure

Yes you are right.... typically on forms we fill here it is first name and last name. However I just checked my passports and they are last name then first name
