Programming / Re: Progress Report: Becoming A Data Analyst by Prinss: 1:16am On Feb 26, 2022
Timetable: Mon - Fri
1. Python (Data Analysis) - 3hrs
2. Python (Development) - 3hrs | Ardit Sulce's MegaPython course on Udemy (Strongly recommend for aspiring python programmers)
3. Excel - 2hrs

Ps: SQL - Did a course on it already. Still need to do some revision though.

So, what did I do this night:

Currently on page 138 for Python for Data Analysis - Mckinney. Learnt about transposing a dataframe using the .T method. Also the .index.name and .columns.name method for dataframe and series. And finally the .reindex method which allows you to reassign the index of the rows and columns of series and dataframe objects. See examples below:

"motivation is the fuel that keeps the flames of passion burning
"

And that's the reason I have decided to create this diary thread. I have discovered that there exist a direct proportionality between motivation and productivity when it comes to skill acquisition especially in the STEM field. If there is no or little motivation (gig, jobs , group challenge etc) then there will most likely be little to no productivity (learning new technologies, doing more projects etc). And so for the coming days I will be updating this thread with my progress as an aspiring data analyst just to keep the flame burning and ensure I complete my course and projects requirement.

Skill Track (primary):
1. Python (data analysis)
2. Structured Query Language (sqlite/postgre)
3. Excel

secondary:
4. Tableau
5. Power Bi

Resources:
1. Python : Python for Data Analysis - Mckinney (pdf) & loading...
2. Excel : ExcelisFun (Youtube)
3. SQL : PRACTICAL SQL A Beginner’s Guide to Storytelling with Data - Anthony DeBarros (pdf)
worthy mentions; stackoverflow, w3schools, geekforgeeks, realpython etc.
4. Datacamp

ps: Started over 2 months ago. Also I have posted this here instead of the diary section because I feel some of the information I will post here may come in handy to some aspiring python programmer.

Family / Re: I Am Becoming A Sadist, My Life Is Full Of Regret by Prinss: 10:25am On Feb 11, 2022
I feel you are going through the 5 stages of grief:

1. Denial – The first reaction is denial. In this stage, individuals believe the diagnosis is somehow mistaken, and cling to a false, preferable reality.

2. Anger – When the individual recognizes that denial cannot continue, they become frustrated, especially at proximate individuals. Certain psychological responses of a person undergoing this phase would be: "Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; "Who is to blame?"; "Why would this happen?".

3. Bargaining – The third stage involves the hope that the individual can avoid a cause of grief. Usually, the negotiation for an extended life is made in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. People facing less serious trauma can bargain or seek compromise. Examples include the terminally ill person who "negotiates with God" to attend a daughter's wedding, an attempt to bargain for more time to live in exchange for a reformed lifestyle or a phrase such as "If I could trade their life for mine".

4. Depression – "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"; "I'm going to die soon, so what's the point?"; "I miss my loved one; why go on?"
During the fourth stage, the individual despairs at the recognition of their mortality. In this state, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time mournful and sullen.

5. Acceptance – "It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it; I may as well prepare for it."
In this last stage, individuals embrace mortality or inevitable future, or that of a loved one, or other tragic event. People dying may precede the survivors in this state, which typically comes with a calm, retrospective view for the individual, and a stable condition of emotions.

My advice is that, you take all the time you need to grieve over the loss of your mum. Afterwards, forgive yourself. Then.

1. Seek out ways to celebrate her going forward. Ex: celebrating her birthday (post humous), create things that reflect her passions (in memory of her).

2. Do to others those things you failed to do to her. One way to redeem our mistakes is to teach others not to make them by sharing our experience.

3. Draw close to God. There's so much 'energy' you will get from this.

4. Join support groups if any.

5. Learn to be happy via relationships with reasonable people.

Ps: Love conquers all

SamuelLoch:

Hello Prinss,
If you are getting "You Did not Register for this Examination..." anytime you enter your details it means what you entered isn't correct or JAMB doesn't have your record.
Check and verify that the "exam year" and the "reg number" you entered are correct.

If it's valid, you should see your name, institution, course of study, and matriculation list status.

Thanks for the response. However, I find that strange because, I used the same reg and exam year to check admission status and I get the prompt that I was given admission into my said school...can't seem to understand where the problem lies.

Ps: I did JAMB regularization the year it started 2016.
NYSC / Re: Post All Problems Relating To JAMB Regularization Here - Let's Treat Them by Prinss: 4:01pm On Feb 06, 2022
I checked JAMB matriculation list and it says "You did not register for this examination". Note: I got admitted as a direct entry student so I selected the UTME of the year I was given admission, I have my school and JAMB admission letter, and I have done regularization couple of years back. What could be the problem??

I need someone to give me an analogy of a class , object, method , function, inheritance etc

When something is an instance of something what do it mean.

I do know how to code but I am yet to grab this basic simple english

Using type of nouns as an analogy.

A class is like a common noun e.g man. But a man is not specific and can refer to several adullt male.

That's where Object comes in, example Ade.

So, to summarize, a class is like a template for creating several objects with specific features.

Man(class)
Ade(object)
Musa(object)
Kazim(object)...

A function is simply a block of codes grouped to perform a specific task. The grouping is simply to allow repetitive usage.

Inheritance is defining a class(child) in such a way that it re-uses the attributes of an already defined class (base)

Instance, depends on context. It could refer to occurrence or type. E.g isinstance("str1ng", str) will return true (python). Since "str1ng" is a string (str) data type.

Ps: I'm lazy typing

Programming / Re: Recruiters Want To See This Before They Give You A Software Dev Job(pictures) by Prinss: 9:19pm On Jan 10, 2022
Lindner:
Just goofing around today and checked out my Github profile, contributions section. Picture below.

This is for beginners, as this may not matter when you have some years of experience.

If you're a beginner, your first job is to paint that board green, REALLY GREEN. Light it up with bright green colors.

Often, tech recruiters just look at that section before going to the details.

At a glance, it tells them alot:

1. You've been coding actively.
2. Most times, it separates you from other applicants.
3. If the repositories that make up the contributions are really solid, you're sure to impress.
4. How can someone trust you that you (without experience) can code and that you wouldn't waste their time if they invited you for interview? THIS IS IT.

Generally, this gets your foot in the door. Keeping the door open now depends on what happens afterward.

It's a new year, whatever you do, don't stop learning and don't stop coding.

PS: If you don't know what this is, you've not started. But don't worry, you can start where you are. The only thing that matters is your determination. Your age, gender, academic or financial background, e.t.c, does not matter. I've seen a 56 year old who taught himself how to code. Single mothers with responsibilities e.t.c. One of the people I learnt how to code with was heavily pregnant. What I'm saying is you have no excuse. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE.

Let's do it!!!!

If you were a recruiter I would say using github as a yard stick to confirm one's commitment and programming skill level will be a flaw in your judgement. Not everyone is given to every industry technology trend. Give people the benefit of the doubt to prove themselves. Trends come and go.

Ps: I have read through all your responses on this thread.

Yes, used an agent and captured in late October. Her passport is not ready yet.

How much was it if you don't mind me asking.

And would you suggest otherwise if one was to go the DIY way.

Kindly drop any tips you may have as regards the experience as I plan doing mine soon (DIY preferrably)

I read the previous thread and I will like to re-emphasize on the activation of sim lock as earlier suggested.

Additionally, save and scratch off the 3 security number (Security) number at the back of your ATM cards should in case you misplace it.

I had a strange experience yesterday when I tried purchasing smth from aliexpress with my card, I entered card details with a wrong Security code (mix up) and guess what? The transaction was successful and I was debited (This same bank). It was when I tried purchasing another item and it kept requesting I re-enter my Security as it was not correct I then realized the first one was wrong.

Once bitten twice shy

Send a DM for full details, it isn't a scholarship. All admitted grad students in my intended program are funded (tuition plus monthly stipend) by the school/program. The clause is that you must find a professor ready to accept you in his/her research group before being admitted. I mailed Professors in my research field and one accepted me hence the admission / accompanying funding.

Alhamdullilah, I was awarded the OSS MSc scholarship. But I won't be accepting it. I hope they consider someone else from my State.

I have already gotten Visa and Scholarship to a university in Canada.

To those selected congratulations, to those not selected, greater success awaits you in other endeavours... 2 years ago I was heartbroken that I wasn't selected for this... This year alone I was flooded with numerous offers from great institutions around the world... Please don't feel down, if you missed out on this, continue to try your luck and definitely one day your desires will be granted in a grand way...

We shall all overcome...

Congrats sir. Can you be so kind as to share the name of the Canadian Scholarship you got?? Thank you

The CBN should also set up a panel of committees or agencies to carry out thorough examination and investigation to ascertain whether or not the money is reaching or getting to the right people as at when due...There are a lot of discrepancies going on with the approval and disbursement of this money.

Your kind of skill will come in handy in Security and Force Agencies. To sketch the faces of culprits/suspects based on witness/victims description. Don't know about Nigeria but I'm aware the US (FBI) have a unit/personnel for stuffs like that.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: N-power Batch C: How To Obtain Your BVN Printout by Prinss: 10:37am On Jun 21, 2021
ezenwaez:

Although the BVN print out might not be an essential document for the physical screening exercise, that is, should there be an N-Power physical verification, but the BVN print out, is necessary to clear any benefits of doubt that might affect an N-Power Batch C applicant's payment, probably due to name and age mismatch.

So in order to obtain your BVN print out an N-Power Batch C applicant should simply go to the bank with his or her BVN number, and request for a printout from the bank customer service unit.

The BVN print out should contain full names of the N-Power Batch C applicant, the correct BVN number, and date of birth of the N-Power Batch C applicant, and also the photo of an N-Power Batch C applicant.

With this document an N-Power Batch C applicant can simply go to the NASIMS N-Power self service portal and edit the name and other details on his or her dashboard to correspond with the particulars on the BVN print out.

Are you not tired of the wait and all the screening and verification processes you have done so far? Instead of you to be talking about deployment and payment you are still pushing for another process of verification so that people will crowd at your cyber cafe. There's something fundamentally wrong with some if not most nigerians.
