Business / Igbo Youths Doing Business In Bayelsa State Are Richer Than Bayelsa State Youths by Promotenaija(f): 10:25am On Jul 10, 2019
Waking up to the Pathetic Nature of Youth Activism And its Attendant effect one may be tempted to critically say some certain things that will attract a lot of Antagonism and misconceptions but" be it as it may" Crucify me if you wish , I Put it to you that Bayelsa State Youths are Poor and most of us Reading this Article are Responsible for this Poverty.

What we are doing right now is “copy copy and follow follow ” but what the Igbo Youths does is they identify What Bayelsans Need and Provide Service according to their own skills and crafts.

Because you see a Particular Youth doing well in Politics or modelling you will now abandon all your dreams, skills and crafts in other to be a model or Politician , Sincerely Speaking there are Some certain prices and Sacrifices those Persons are making in their field that you cannot make not because you don't have the means but because you don't see the need and the Passion is not also there.

Now Back to the fact that we are all Responsible for this Poverty; As Bayelsans we have failed to support each other dreams we only support when we see their is Benefit ahead and not for the Purpose of brotherliness . I tell you today that there is need for the the old and Young to support each other dreams and Aspirations because that is the only way forward.

The Youths of Bayelsa State must wake up to the Sad Realities of Life especially in this Contemporary Era,We must take Charge of all the structures in the System called Nigeria and Bayelsa State in Particular, Let's Industrialize Bayelsa State, Let us be outstanding in Sports and Entertainment, Let us be good Ambassadors of the Not too young to Run Ideology, Let us Key into Science and technology it is not too big to Achieve, what about Agriculture ? We have the best environment for Agriculture in Nigeria, Let's convert our Crude Oil to Other productive activities too.

When ever our Civil Servants/Politicians and Big boys collect Salary the Igbo people are comfortably waiting for it at their Business Places same thing is applicable to others.

Can't you see that when they celebrate Igbo day all the Businesses in Yenagoa is closed Voluntarily and when we Celebrate Boro day we force businesses to close because we are not the ones in Charge.

It is not wise for People who have nothing doing to always Blame their families, Government or Leadership of Structures, their are vast Opportunities in Bayelsa State, Key into one of them and make money. The average Keke driver in Bayelsa State Makes up to 60K every month and you think that you that doesn't have a Job is too big for that or those Hausa people that are Catching our fishes in the river on daily basics .

A great Philosopher called Socrates once said “ Man Know thyself for an unExamined Life is not Worth Living” as Stakeholders of this State let's take a critical look at it and reflect on it's Potentials Aesthetically, technologically, Agriculturally and Other wise. Let us Make deliberate efforts to build Bayelsa State.

I'm on my kneels begging my brothers not to see this as an Insult but a wake up Call to Service and contribute our quota to the Development of Bayelsa State and make life Meaningful for ourselves.

God Bless Bayelsa State Youths!

God Bless Bayelsa state!!

God Bless Nigeria!!!

Business / Two Things You Must Know Before Setting Up Your Business by Promotenaija(f): 7:15am On May 06, 2019
ISSUE ONE: MANAGEMENT
I have met so many upcoming/ start-ups and intending entrepreneurs at many occasions and lots of emails for advice and one thing I have shared from my experiences is that business is more about MANAGEMENT than FINANCE.

If you spent 50,000 to set up akara business, until you make that 50,000 back, you have not started. When you finally do make the 50,000 back, (this is called capital ), anything else you spent to make the 50,000 is the cost of operations. Take that out and whatever is left is the profit. The problem in business is MANAGING all the challenges, decisions and headaches that comes with making that PROFIT and not the money to start it.

A CHECKLIST would be How do you apply the money made; how have you handled those customers, how DO you manage the business money away from personal desires, and where you have employees, how you manage them and comply with basic legal, economic and social challenges HAS been the problem of business.

This explains why many businesses fail despite thousands, millions and billions invested into it.

ISSUE 2. ANALYSIS
Take time to do your findings, business analysis or business plan. Do not invest because you see someone doing well. Let me give you some sad examples;

SCENARIO 1. You were driving past a street and sees cars lined up at a filling station and you conclude it’s profitable and hurriedly to set up yours with say 40 million.

PROBLEM:

- some people open businesses as a front for illegal deals such as illegally refined petroleum products, money laundering and so on and not to do real business. It’s just a facade!! So while you may think there is so much money and you go ahead to build filling station of say 20 million, the guy sells half truck of good product, mixes the rest with his bad product, adjust dispenser fraudulently and sells the same price with you who buys real product at approved price. You can’t compete with him.

To add to this, that filling station may be one out of many the owner has and by so doing, provides financial cushions for the business even when things go bad or the owner could be leaning on other businesses to keep the station going.

So when you hurriedly build yours on wrong assumptions, even without getting your capital back, after years, the business dies. Your money GONE!

- after building your station and you realize that you are struggling to dispense only one truck in a whole week. You are not NNPC that exhaust 4 Trucks a week. You still have to pay salaries, burn deisel, pay for security and maintenance. You then realize that even in 10 years, you cannot realize your CAPITAL the business dies. Your money GONE! You will be shocked that in 10 years, you still may not get your capital, let alone profit!

This is why you have many locked up stations.

- LESSON: do proper business analysis before making the final investment decision.

SCENARIO 2. You see someone importing tyres say for Caterpillar and the guy is making it and you hurriedly set up yours.

PROBLEM: That man possibly has been in the business of importation for years, learnt the trade and taking advantage of the weaknesses. A Caterpillar tyre is so big one can hide many goods inside one. He pays the custom duties for tyre and sneaks in many other goods. In fact, the business of Caterpillar tyre is the mask behind his real business and all you see is the tyres and his success.

LESSON: don’t invest your money in a business you know nothing about. Spend the money rather on feasibility/analysis and business plan to save you the loss. So a business of say 20 million investment, with 2 million, your feasibility studies and business plans will let you know if you should go ahead or not and save you the losses, pains and frustrations. This is why you have business development consultants whose job it is to guide your investment decision. It’s cheaper to take a well informed decision than make an avoidable loss. Not all that glitters is gold.

CONCLUSION
In Nigeria, Institutions of Government are dead, no regulatory agency is alive so you cannot compete and survive favorably.

Agencies of government are only out there to take registration fees and charges and not to check standards so don’t be fooled. Invest in what you can manage well and survive based on proper business analysis.

PLEASE what other one thing you think should be added to the list for someone out there about to start a business ?

Please share your experiences and thoughts in the comments section.

Literature / The Young Dreams By Barr. Moses Oruaze Dickson by Promotenaija(f): 12:47pm On Apr 15, 2019
THE YOUNG DREAMS

The crowd was surging and unending
And again, we were staring at our limits
We knew from experience we cannot meet all their needs
But we had hopes, and hope kept us going
We were at Sabagria, a wonderful community in Bayelsa State.

I got so tired that i had to find a makeshift stone to sit
As i made way to stretch my feet, I felt a familiar presence
And then a young familiar voice asked “uncle, are you tired? See, i have left with me a bottle of drink from my pack you gave me, please drink it, so you can have some strength. We have been waiting for you to join us to our evening classes as you promised”.

While attending to the kids earlier, Ken was reading his story book even as he stood patiently in the line and i had picked interest in him. When it was his turn, i asked him what he was reading about and he said he was reading for a test and that it was a story about a clever tortoise. We laughed and i told him i would like to see his classroom and so unknown to me, he had been around waiting for me with his friends.

I raised my head and it was ken and his friends
Though I wasn’t entirely thirsty, the natural generosity, courage and love in his offer instantly sparked up the thirst in me and I immediately too the drink and gulped it down.

Ken was the older one and he had told me he dreams of being a lawyer. I summoned all the strength in me, folded my trouser and off we went. We arrived late but the teacher was kind to let us in and i sat with them as the class continued.

As i sat there, my head began swelling with memories of my days in primary school. so I took a peek into my past and my mind rested on the 10’ by 12’ room space of my humble beginning. A space that served as a sitting room on one hand, a dining space at will and the bedroom I shared with my mother and siblings for many years in Toru Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The space, though like a matchbox, housed dreams in the limelight today. The credit of course goes to my late mother, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson, who enveloped her family with love. Daily, she borrowed the creeks and forests of Toru Orua, to ensure that her family had the best life she could offer. For many days, I woke up to the absence of mama, as she had sailed at dawn to strive for her family. For the sake of her children, mama’s body and soul grew tougher for a beleaguered life to crack; a dogged mother who stared at the face of hardship and refused to bow.

I remember how I lurked around my school premises, waiting to get the notebooks of my colleagues, simply because I was chased out for not paying my school fees. I remember how I laughed and wished people looked beyond the splash of dentition, to hear the cacophonic thoughts of rage in my voice. When I stepped out smiling in the morning, I wished they looked beyond the stripes of pain inflicted by my sleeping mat. My nights were always pregnant with wishes the mornings craved could come to fruition and so I resolved to smile in the face of uncertainty.

I remembered how i would sweep, park the dishes to the waterside, wash off, bathe in the same river ahead of the thunderous school bell. As i sat there with my new found “classmates”, i was indeed off on a long journey to my past.

Suddenly, I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, i turned and it was ken. I did not realize almost everyone was gone. It was now 5:pm and my team would be rounding up so I thanked Ken and his friends as i saw them off. I knew nothing about what was taught in the class and i was lucky the teacher nor ken threw a question at me.

To forearm myself, i retuned to the empty classroom to check what it was. I sat gazing at the old ‘blackboard’ determined to contain myself for i have just had an encounter with the childhood friends and with the young dreams i once had through Ken.

I dedicate this piece to all those who like me and Ken pursue the young dreams of our heart.

Politics / Onnoghen CJN And The Injustice Of NJC - Barr. Moses Oruaze Dickson by Promotenaija(f): 4:22pm On Feb 01, 2019
Barrister and business leader, Moses Oruaze Dickson took to his twitter to explain the ongoing issues on Onnoghen removal. He tweeted

"ONNOGHEN & THE INJUSTICE OF NJC ( in SIMPLE terms).‬

‪So imagine yourself as a married man. ‬
‪Your family members came to your house while u were away, ACCUSED ur wife, humiliated her & drove her out of ur home & then, went ahead to bring a new wife (replacement) for you. ‬

‪You came back and u were told. ‬
‪Would you look for her, bring her back 2 take her rightful place first or would you leave her where she may be while u investigate & ask her to defend herself 4rm wherever she is WHILE their illegal bride stays in ur home & parades herself as wife?‬

‪This is a simple analogy to the rude injustice by the failure of the National Judicial Council to make clear declarations in this ongoing Justice Onnoghen matter. Like your family members, The president had no powers to “suspend “ the CJN. ‬

‪The NJC is duty bound to make a clear pronouncement to the effect that Justice Onnoghen remains the CJN pending their findings. Rather, like the new bride, Justice Tanko is illegally occupying the office right under their watch. ‬

‪In my 7 years as a lawyer, this is the worst and most embarrassing experience. Alas! Even if they do the needful today, it will never erase this disgrace, taint and desecration of the Temple of Justice. Our laws even says a man is presumed innocent till proved guilty. Haba! ‬

I decided not to quote sections of laws and cases and do all that legal jargons you know lawyers do. This is a very simple issue the people Understands and the constitution clearly made provisions for and even the Supreme Court has severally stated and Justice Tanko himself sat on.

Onnoghen has been condemned and pronounced guilty even before trial.

‪‪Trust Naija Governors - Very soon, They will unilaterally “suspend “ their Chief Judges and indeed, the CJ would wax in the cold while investigations and unending cases last up to the Supreme Court and the Governors will not care. In fact, they would so calculate it well to outlive their tenure. ‬

‪‪As a matter of fact, very soon, judges will be battling torrents of “high-tech lynchings” & malicious allegations just to set the tone for d executive arm to do this needful. This is a dangerous trend hence the constitution insulated judicial officers from this distraction.‬

‪As you see me in the photo above, standing proud inside the sacred courtroom in the Supreme Court today, This experience will live in infamy. ‬

‪The evil that once was is RE-EMERGING. "

Music/Radio / MUSIC: Mr Era - Today by Promotenaija(f): 4:55pm On Jan 25, 2019
TODAY — MR. ERA

Mr. Era aka Oddboi serves his listeners a hot tuneful, yet soul searching music. The message is clear and concise in this quotable lyrics as he appeals to every Nigerian to come to the aid of flood victims, today. Many of these flood victims have become homeless as a result of the rising water, properties worth billions of Naira has been lost to the flood. Hope has washed to the shores. Era advises well meaning Nigerians to be a beacon to these ones and provide hope to their conditions.

These victims of flood needs palliatives to help cushion the effects of post-flood. Many are in overcrowded, internally displaced camps without food, water and daily necessities. A lot are slipping into social vices and acting in manners unbecoming of them just to help curb the hunger and suffering. This song urges us to put a smile on their faces by being there for them in the little we can. Are you willing to help victims of the flood today?

”TODAY” is produced by The Nutritious Producer Sinotemusix.

Crime / A Poem On The Dangers Of Cultism By Tule Joseph Sunday by Promotenaija(f): 4:52pm On Mar 27, 2018
He was just five years old
He watched his father die,
They were 3 boys, they wanted his Itel phone
He refused so they shot him. And gave him a Lifeless soul.
Was that how my father died?
He cried till his eyes were cold
To anger, hatred and vengeance his mind gets sold.
Years pass, he grew in that Violent zone
Dolph men and pilots became his tightest bros
They gave him weed and told him, light let's smoke

12 midnight they'd call him guy let's go
He pulled hits, so they made him a strike Exco
Sub-strike he was called. Nicknamed the Mindless Wolf!!
Going to school/education wasn't in his mindset so
He sort to b a recognized norseman, a national pilot those were his life set goals
He anchored ships and observed traditions till he attained the highest post.
Executioner, No.1 Man the Mindless wolf!!
Always with a gun. On his waist he ties white red clothes.
Ofcourse he had a mum
The poor uneducated woman who grieved over her husband so much
that she forgot she Had a son

B4 she remembered he was half way gone
He was already a societal Nuisance a garbage dump!
His uncles? pretended they didn't see the acts play on
He grew up alone with no one to ask aid from
When "who goes there" became his good morning. Nobody asked
where he got the language from
When his head was bandaged nobody asked where he got the scarface from
When he moved with a rusty and damaged gun
Nobody asked where he got the cartridge from

When he got arrested. Nobody picked the SARS bail form
He lived life d hard way and became a Savage scum!
Aro Mindless wolf!! Serving Executioner onboard Barakudas marine. He and his lads sailed on
Until one faithful night
They wanted to hunt treasures before they say good night
So they mounted with their hoods all black
A man and his child were on their way from seeing a football match
"Who goes there?? They oited. The father told his son, you run fast!!
The son ran and hid in a food store's back!

They blocked all routes plus paths
So the man couldn't move or pass
Shsssssssssssss stark am stand
Where the H.S and RBS? They asked tha man
As they hacked and pounced
I no carry phone oh! He replied with a scattered sound
i go blow u shot oh! You think say we dey play here? Na me be
mindless wolf!! ask around.
Abeg, I no get Phone, abeg! Suddenly, . .... there was a blackout sound
Paoow!!! They all dispersed as the man's brain splashed around.

His son saw everything. He saw as his father became a lifeless soul.
He touched his pocket and felt his dad's Itel phone.
His dad gave it to him during d match. He cried till his eyes were cold
He was only five years old
now to anger, hatred and vengeance his mind gets sold
Now Mindless wolf, has created another Mindless wolf!!
The circle continues.
