Politics / Re: Ahmad Salkida Says ISWAP Behind Attack That Killed Over 100 Nigerian Soldiers by Quigley: 3:25am On Nov 24, 2018
This ISWAP is led by Al Bawani, whom unfortunately Buhari has been paying hundreds of millions of dollars for prisoner release. Why won't he have sophisticated weapon? Shekau was only interested in attacking defenseless civilians why this dude wanted to take the fight to the military, ISIS style; looks like he's broken it from Shekau and boy he's more deadly.

Politics / Re: Boards Have No Power To Suspend Ceos Of Parastatals, Says SGF by Quigley: 8:10pm On Oct 29, 2018
AZeD1:

Nope. Board members of government agencies have no power to hire or fire. That power rests with the President who has to in some cases get clearance from the National Assembly.

That's absurd then. There's no need having them if they won't do there job.
Politics / Re: Boards Have No Power To Suspend Ceos Of Parastatals, Says SGF by Quigley: 7:44pm On Oct 29, 2018
ladman:

I was quite surprised when the board claimed to have sacked him. Government boards in Nigeria are meant to monitor and give reccomendations to either the hierarchy of the organisation or the executive arm of the government.

The minister of health also overreached his power when he sacked him without the president's approval. Can the minister of interior sack the heads of any of the paramilitary organisations? I don't think so.

Whether the NHIS boss is acting badly or not, the set rules ought to be followed.

Oh didn't know that Govt boards in Nigeria is quite for show. But I don't the Minister over reached his power, he shares the president's power with him as the head of the health ministry, as to the concept of delegation of power. In the USA, you don't wait for the president to sack you, his Chief of Staff does that irrespective of your position, be you Secretary of State.
We need to change these rules for easy running of things, the president has too much to think and run, NHIS chief shouldn't be his priority. That's why things are not moving, too much powers in the hands of the presidency.
Politics / Re: Boards Have No Power To Suspend Ceos Of Parastatals, Says SGF by Quigley: 6:50pm On Oct 29, 2018
AZeD1:

Government boards or private boards because they are not the same thing. Even in private boards the board needs to have a majority voting power to remove the CEO. Its not automatic.

Yeah I know they need to have a majority voting power. My friend still had 56% voting power, the board threatened him with a hostile takeover and got his friend who shares that 56% with him to vote. But still seeing some this CEO has no shares in that NHIS, thus rendering voting a majority voting power null and void, a simple raising of hand can suspend or sack him. Isn't that so?

This are the kind of illiterate we have in this country very low IQ I pity your life

This* and claims to be smart. Tueh for you!
Isn't That why they are there? I am speaking as someone who has seen 3 CEOS removed by the board. I don't know how it's done in Nigeria, but boards have powers to sack. I have seen a guy who lost his position as chairman and CEO of board the same day, sacked by no other business the board. Keep thinking that everyone on nairaland is a mumu.
Only Nigeria is where a board can't sack but make recommendations. Smh

I was watching the chilling adventures of Sabrina with my elder sister and when the praising and hailing of satan got too much, she just went in her room and started praying. I couldn't stop laughing! She said it's indoctrination of teenagers by Hollywood. The conspiracy theories I have heard about that show ehhh.....

CW is mostly targeted at teens and they are doing a very good job in that aspect, i don't know what the fuss is all about, they have one of the largest fanbase and are their revenue are much more than some shows with quality series..

made me remember Snapchat, a lot of adults hate snapchat but it is not targeted at them, they know their market and are doing well in that aspect, see INTRO " my name is barry allen and i'm the fastest man alive" that should tell you the shows are for teens ( not all though )

i personally dislike CW recent shows, imagine teen wolf, 100 etc being renewed for more than 3 seasons, what does that tell you
eerm the FIFA FUT coins is another thing i hate, but without FUT itself fifa is nothing

Oga CW don't make much sef compared to Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. Why do you think they had to stop Supernatural for sometime? Why did that lead girl (Nina Dobrev) in Vampires Diaries leave? They were paying her $20k per episode, the same with the lead girl in Teen wolf.
Yes they target teens but that was then, do they even average 6 million viewers per episode? ABC, NBC, CBS and co averages more than them. They should get their shit together nd make shows for the whole family. Teens are struggling and are no longer paying for cables, it's Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime and stuff like those we pay for monthly!

That's a $120 million per season tv series. Of course it's gonna be great. Why would Netflix invest that amount to if it's not gonna be a bang.

Nigerians are like kids that need instant gratification. Build a university and hospital well equipped for Nigeria, they will not remember you, but share 5k to them, and oh you are the Messiah. We as a society loves money and demand things instantly instead of enjoying what those money can do instead. Why did you think Buhari decided to share the Abacha loot? He understands Nigerians.

Hnmm! You asked a very simple question, over 2 threads have been created and almost 60 people have reacted to this news

However, as hypocrisy will have it,,,,none is courageous enough to tell the truth...that Christians have murdered Muslims

THE Christians are terrorizing the Muslims...that's what has happened oga

Because the Muslims killed the xtians last week. This is a reprisal attack. No one/ religion has monopoly on violence. Nigeria is a ticking bomb, the day Christians will say enough and retaliate ehhhh, e go better for everybody body that day.

Family / Re: Somebody Is Trying To Molest My Neighbour's Six-Year-Old Daughter by Quigley: 10:53pm On Oct 17, 2018
All these problems stems from the fact Nigerians don't have a heart to heart talk to with their kids. Who knows how many times that child has been shouted upon, beaten, always been told to be silence. We should always find a way of resolving issues with our little ones that doesn't involve violence because I don't see why that child wouldn't open up well with her mother.
We should stop silencing our children please, give them space to be open, blunt and express themselves.
The lady should sit her down and ask her, tell the little girl she shouldn't be afraid to tell her anything, close talk and u would be surprised what that child will say, and I don't believe it's the dad, he might have answered outta negligence which is bad.

Politics / Was Nigeria Designed To Fail? by Quigley: 7:59am On Oct 17, 2018
Let's face it, Nigeria is a failed State. If you are writing a thesis and want to focus on a failed State, Nigeria will be the number one State. I will never forget how my sister went in on a professor who used Nigeria as an example of a failed State. The learned professor did this in class, and my sister being a champion of the country went in to defend her "nation". The joys in her heart, that rays of sunshine I saw in her face when she told me of this, I will never forget. She did her country a service in a foreign land according to her, defending her honors. Those rays of sunshine and the joys weren't in her eyes few years later. See, she finished her education, did her Masters in Business Administration and also Masters in Political science, came back to that Country she proudly defended and found the reality on ground. So when she stayed in Nigeria for four years and the best job she can get was one with a 70k naira a month pay, she had to call me to book her a flight to come back "home". She has never called The United States "home". A proud Nigerian she always was then, me? I don't give a shit about Nigeria, never have and never will. Want to know why? Because I am smart to know that Nigeria is a failed state, a failed country designed to fail.

This country is 58 years old, that's a long time for a serious country to have seen its goals and aspirations. I did write an essay in school, "Nigeria, like Africa is designed to fail". Are we watching the news? Following European News to be precise? Are we seeing the rates at which countries are rejecting multiculturalism? From the United Kingdom to Poland has a hard-right government, yet we are supposed to be happy and pretend that all is well with Nigeria? And Africa at large? There's this quote on Twitter, "It is funny how the same British who essentially created multicultural nations like Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria- and insist these nations MUST work, 'now insist that a multicultural Britain cannot work' America say the same thing and has the same thing and have the same policy towards African nations". The truth in this quote can give life. Now I don't know if a multicultural Britain can't or can work, but I know for sure, infact for 58 years, that a multicultural Nigeria and most African States can't work. That's a fact!!
Nigeria can actually be like the United Kingdom or The Netherlands, these countries has four Independent nations that make up one country. The UK with England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales and the Netherlands with Netherlands, Sint Martin, Aruba and Caracao. Belgium has regions, The French speaking Belgians have their region while Dutch speaking Belgians have Theirs!! This is how to run a country, can't we take a leave outta these countries since some people whom have gotten rich and wealthy illegally from our collective wealth now believes that the Unity of this shithole is non negotiable?

Nigeria will continue to be a failed State until we look ourselves in the eye and tell ourselves the hard truth. I remember someone saying on Nairaland here that the Tribe is an enemy of the State and I don't think I have seen anything more truthful. We really need to work, the earlier the better!!!!
