I don’t think this should be an issue. People change names all the time. I believe a one and the same person affidavit as well as your marriage certificate and perhaps the newspaper publication showing your name change would clear this.

spicykev:
Please, I would like to confirm the implication of change of name in the entire Canada process.

I have used my name before I got married on all my documents such as IELTS, WES, Int'l passport as well as birth certificate and National ID card, same was also used to create my express entry profile.

What is the implication of I decide to change to my husband's name at this point.I am yet to to get an ITA.

Who has faced this exact challenge? please advise.

Ah. In this same Nigeria that someone will collect your bread, beat you on top then tell you you must not cry? Haaa. At your own peril oh.

This may sound harsh but the reality is everyone is struggling one way or another - asking a total stranger for this is a weird request and raises so many flags.

If he has access to a guarantor, that means the guarantor has that money. Why not get it from him directly?

Just my thoughts though.

muymacho:

Well, you can collect collateral from the guarantor worth more than the money you are giving. Dude is trying to find a way. This life no balance. If you can gather your POF, give thanks to God.

Yes it is but hey, best to do what could be done to keep the eye on the goal. It would even be useful when we get there anyway. So, killing 2 birds with one stone.

I have a masters.

I got LRWS 8.5,9,9,7. The best a rewrite can give me is additional 3 points to make 470. That’s a 7.5 in writing. I requested an EOR in writing but my score remained unchanged.

However, I’ve thought of it this way - if I rewrite and get 470, and no FSW draw is done until after my birthday in May, the rewrite then becomes of no use as I’ll fall to about 465 in which case, I’ll then have to learn French. That’ll move my hope to get ITA from say May (if an FSW draw is done by then or by June/July (if I take the French test in June/July) to perhaps December. So, why don’t I just take that step now?

icehot:

Is there nothing else you can do to increase it, like retaking IELTS? How many degrees are you using?

This has been on my mind too.

I’ve registered to learn french just in case the draws turn out like they did last year - increasing after the CEC & PNP draws - just to avoid stories that touch.

My score’s 467 and my birthday’s in May and I’m dreading losing points with an already borderline score.

I’d advise that those of us in this bucket should try to take steps to increase our chances instead of having to wait and hope that the scores will drop.

oty1993:
Omo!! with the way they has only been pnp and cec draw this year, will express entry cutoff increase or is 468 still safe What do you guys estimate

Good morning. Have you gone through page 1? Even the CRS simulator is linked there. You’ll really be doing yourself a disservice by just asking questions and relying on only the responses without first visiting what should be your first port of call - the CIC website then back up with page 1.

Which is better pnp or express entry ?

Please don’t remove it. I doubt it would go lower, perhaps only increase or may stay as is. As long as it doesn’t reduce your CRS score, I believe you’re good. You’ll just update post-ITA.

Omotoyosi24:
Hi guys. Please krespond to this if you are knowledgeable about what I am about to ask.

I wrote my ielts December 2020 I scored LSWR 8.5, 7, 7, 8.5 I asked for a remark bt I am yet to get a response from idp.
My CRS is currently on 468. What do I do if there’s a draw tomorrow and I get ITA.
Will my TRF change after remark? or should I just remove my ielts from my profile. Please help

Going by the part in red, I would think this is referring to a non-citizen. One with a passport is a citizen and requires no green card.

Hi all,

Asking because I saw this question
Is your family member a permanent resident of the United States who has an alien registeration card (Green Card) or other proof of permanent residence?
In this situation will it be YES or NO?
Thanks.

Not for BC. You only need to send the EOR form.

Tamad101:
I don't think you can apply for EOR without TRF. You need both the TRF & EOR filled form

The last FSW draw was 468 so if you’re in the pool, keep the hope up.

We’re hoping there’ll be a draw next week.

DesignerDesigne:
Hi guys,

I'm about to swim in the Express Entry pool with CRS of 470,, any luck that ITA will smile at me before August this year? by then I will be 30 and that will only mean -5marks.

I'm scared the way they haven't done any draw for FSW this year, it will only make it more competitive.

You can proceed with WES while you sort out your passport before registering for IELTS as you’ll need it then.

Obidevin:
hello all, I need clarity please, my international passport has expired and I am working on getting it done, but with the nimc suspension I have to wait to get my NIN, I want to confirm if I can go ahead to pay for WES, and my IELTS exams, I need advice please, I am a newbie in this, I need guidance for people that know better.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Renialistic: 5:42pm On Jan 14, 2021
This is correct. I had that on mine as well.

KlausMike:

If my memory serves me right, at the point of submitting an application with WES, you would have been asked if the candidate's name on the academic qualification differs from their current name and also to state the name on the qualification. Did you fill in the appropriate information at that point?

Cos i also evaluated my spouse's qualification and on her ECA report, it indicated that the name on the ECA report (which is also the name on her passport) differs from the name on the academic credential she submitted and it makes sense cos as at the time she got the degree, she wasn't married to me and she did not have a passport with her maiden name. We also indicated this on our EE profile with the appropriate change of name documentation.

I think the 'koko' is all names must match i.e. ECA report, Passport, EE application and if there was a change of name (due to marriage or other reasons), you should provide documentation to back it up. grin

I'm open to any corrections smiley

If it’s for BC, yes you can. I don’t know about IDP/MOD but I reckon it should be same.

If you kept copies of your visa applications, that may help.

Also, if you received your itineraries via mail, you could get the dates of travel there.

Don’t stress it, really.

We all have our peculiarities. At 490, just relax and wait. The rest of the month is there. Perhaps to de stress, start gathering all your documents - bank statement and ref letter, PCC, medicals, etc.

Francieuche:
Now am in the pool with 490 CRS ..they didn't do fsw draw yesterday.Someone was telling why my case is always different?? That's how unilag dealt with me for 5 months... Before transcript was sent... And when it was sent wes evaluated it within a month.na wa ooo all this time I wasn't in the pool draws were constant..
God let a draw happen soon

1. You can download the form, fill and send along with the proof of payment.

2. Yes, transfer receipt suffices.

3. If it says 6 weeks, that should have ended yesterday - maybe you want to be sure before making payment as one cannot tell the process for such refund or if it’ll even be refunded at all.

socially4fun:
Hi Everyone, I wrote my IELTS on the 25th of November and I want to request a remark. I've sent them an email to that effect but no reply yet.

Is it advisable to download the EOR form, fill it in and send it to their email address, along with proof of payment? Or should I wait for them to reply my initial email before doing anything?

Question 2, can mobile transfer screenshot serve as proof of payment?

Last and most important question, can I even still apply for EOR. I know they said 6 weeks after test date, but one cannot be so sure how they do their counting. Let it not be that I go and pay money for EOR that I'm not eligible for.

Most of the information you need is on page 1 of this thread, with links to other resources.

The steps you need to take depend on a number of factors like age, your highest educational qualification, your work experience, etc.

Essentially though, you need to evaluate your credentials first and write IELTS.

Good afternoon, please I need guidance on migration to Canada. I reside in dubai but its expensive to live here with my spouse and son...especially considering school fees and my income.

My wife also has travel experience. What are the steps to follow please?
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 10 by Renialistic: 8:49am On Jan 05, 2021
That’ll be misrepresentation. You’d have to submit your marriage certificate when you apply for your family - how would you explain that it carries an earlier date than your application where you applied as single?

Better to get a gift deed to cover the POF while you and your wife evaluate your credentials and write IELTS than go through all this trouble.

Idemujoseph:
thank you for your response! What if I hide my marriage status?

Writing TEF is probably your only option (except you have a sibling in Canada or get a provincial nomination). Getting an additional certification will do nothing since you have a Masters already.

Thanks. I’ve reached out to them and they confirmed they can issue ref letters as well as account statements. Was just wary about IRCC’s acceptance. I’ve decided to take a chance and do an LOE with statements from both my mutual fund custodian and piggyvest.

I think it’s a better place to keep money considering the current rates available from the banks and mutual funds as well as the fact that one cannot tell how long the process will take. I’ll feel more comfortable moving it now and explaining than moving after AOR.

Lesbihornest:
Piggyvest issue statement of account. I'm thinking of going this route as the interest rate is much better.

I guess a well detailed LOE showing the movement of funds should suffice?

I'm new to this too.

Has anyone on here used piggyvest for POF? I’ve done a search but can’t find any in the affirmative.

I plan on moving my POF from mutual funds to piggyvest as the returns on mutual funds can make one cry - feels like I’m paying them to keep my money. cry cry cry

Would an LOE showing statements from both my mutual funds and piggyvest suffice? My mutual funds statement shows the gradual increase of the money.

Thanks.

I think you should start the process while sorting out POF. First, start with evaluating your degree(s) as that typically takes the longest. You may also start preparing for IELTS as well so you don’t lose valuable time.

I think it’s on a case by case basis. I asked for a remark hoping to get bumped up from 7 but it wasn’t granted and it took exactly 3 weeks.

Adenoladavid:

I asked for a remark last week Saturday for my writing (6.5). I just got a mail this morning that it has been upgraded to 7.

That's about 1 week and 3 days. Although it's only one module I asked for a remark on. I heard it matters.

PPR... Finally.

I came across this thread on Nairaland some months after AOR, in fact we were already PPR expectant and reading PPR/landing gists, gave me great joy.

To appreciate how long and frustrating this journey was, I'll say this:

I unexpectedly fell preggers like that my friend Linda grin. This was few months after AOR

We were excited about the intending Canny baby.

Let's sha say that AVO and Covid dashed that dream. That baby that was formed few months after AOR will clock one in a few months time.

E shock una abi... So you guys will appreciate how myself and many others waited for this PPR like no man's business.

It has definitely ended in Praise and Thanksgiving.

PPR will fall on every single one waiting by the grace of God. Amen

To all those that mentioned me and prayed for this, THANK YOU
