You need to have stayed in Canada as a permanent Resident for 1096 days before you're eligible for CITIZENSHIP. The process you're going through now is to get the PR.

Thank you for the response, however, I got another response that with PR you can sponsor your spouse over via spousal route

Has anyone on here used piggyvest for POF? I’ve done a search but can’t find any in the affirmative.

I plan on moving my POF from mutual funds to piggyvest as the returns on mutual funds can make one cry - feels like I’m paying them to keep my money. cry cry cry

Would an LOE showing statements from both my mutual funds and piggyvest suffice? My mutual funds statement shows the gradual increase of the money.

Thanks.

Good morning guys! I've been following this thread for a while, my first post here actually.... I've gone through a couple of things here, especially on the first page.

My question is regarding the experience parts. I've never done a paid job for anyone and the only experience was during NYSC (Worked at a federal school and got paid only after service in bulk)

But since then, I've been working as a freelancer to earn a living.

So, anything for someone like me that has been working as a freelancer for years and getting paid? Does that count as experience? And also the NYSC year?

This way, I will know the next step to take. Thanks

You can apply as self employed. If you have a company registered and have a company account and also paying taxes.
Go back to page 1 and check for people who got PR through the self employed route

Guys, I need help. Is it compulsory for me to do IELTS if my wife is the principal applicant for our proposed Express Entry, and she scored 8 listening, 8speaking, 7writing, 7reading. A prompt answer will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can sponsor your spouse via spousal route but you have to be living in Canada at the time and not leave the country at all or for a certain period of time while in the process and the process takes at least 1 year.
So if you have the PR card you cannot be in Nigeria or another country and apply for your spouse from there.

Well, It is not compulsory for you to write IELTS but you should if you want to increase your CRS score as you can add up to 20 points with your IELTS result (if you score 8777 in LWRS). Using myself as an example, I am the Primary Applicant and when I created my express entry profile in December, my score was 454.

My wife recently wrote IELTS and after adding her scores to my profile, I am now on 470 (she added 16 points to my CRS score with her IETLS result). So in your best interest, you should plan to write IELTS too.

You mean even when I get the Canadian passport, my wife will still pass through EE?

You can sponsor bro, but I think you have to be resident in Canada to do that

Thanks for the response.... I've actually checked the first page and a couple of pages on this thread, but I didn't see anywhere that talked about self employed route or freelancing.

Also, when I say freelancing, it's not a physical office thing, strictly online.

So if you could maybe help with a link, that will really be helpful.

See here....the first post is from page 1, it's the application checklist from IRCC with details of what should be submitted by applicants.

I'm not sure it matters whether the self employed business is in a physical location or online, this is with regards to your comment about freelancing.

You will find the PPR links in the post below useful but it'll be up to you to add an extra docs that you believe give credence to your business and chosen NOC.

Good luck!

Someone should please help answer this

Happy New Year All. Please I need advice on the issue of proof of fund as I want to start preparing it since I have some of the funds. Which is the best way to save the proof of fund between opening a domiciary acct with my bank UBA or applying for a UBA Africard as I was told I can get statement of account for both options.

Also, what effect will the fluctuating exchange rate have on my savings. Then I read somewhere about some sort of investment to shoot up my pof. I need more clarity on this. Thank you All

Hi, please I need clarification.
1)One can either write IELTS with IDP/MOD or BC?
Asking because IDP sounds confusing to me.

2)in cases of remarking, can someone who registered with IDP apply to BC for remarking and vice versa?

Thanks in advance.

Please can i evaluate my result with Wes twice. I did the first one but it has so many mistakes. It was from my school. The Wes result came out but my name was spelt wrongly etc.

I want to do a fresh one again, since the school have corrected the mistakes. I hope it won't affect me.

Btw. The money is not an issue.

There is a process for this, from what I remember you would inform wes, then inform your school to send it again with the correct details, then wes will change it
(This scenario is if its your school that made the mistake)
Check like 10-20 pages back or so,

Thank you for your prompt response. Just to clarify, please where will I attach the LOE? Can I submit without any document uploaded in the space for the England Police Certificate?

Liispa:

You can change it to Nigeria, include it in your LOE stating the exams were conducted in Nigeria. The system will automatically remove the England PCC request.
