Any brides needing advice? Please ask. |

Thoniameek: I was about to say something similar, security can only minimize uninvited guests not stop them. But it'll definitely go viral on social media of a bride in her dress fighting guests because of food. 1 Like |

the idea of bestman is a foreign concept, particularly the suit wearing part of it, we as Nigerians can modify it to suit our own preferences. I saw 1 the other day on NL where the lady who was part of the groomsmen wasn't even related to the guy. |

From my experience I've noticed parents (including older aunties, uncles, cousins, relatives and close family friends) play a significant role in the planning of a Nigerian wedding. Even when they are not directly involved in the minute details of the planning they appear to hold significant Veto-power on what can and can't be done (sometimes including when they do not financially contribute to the budget). Any one have similar or different experiences? Also, any opinions on why it appears so? |

i've noticed one of the most frequently asked questions is about which colours to use on for the wedding, Why? |

youngdanee: did they really serve palm wine at the wedding? Also, do you have other pix from the wedding? |

Fuqman: great point, what do you think is the relationship between money and quality of a wedding? |

cold: I think it started as a way to make your trad more unique compared to other trads that didn't have cakes, but now it has become the norm. But what i find interesting is the range of creativity that goes into the trad cakes, there's a thread here where they used the cake to build a small compound with 3 huts and like 4-5 people sitting in traditional attire, all part of the cake. Again, it's just a way to make your own wedding different from the others. If the trend continues, we might start to see trad cakes becoming more expensive and extravagant than that at the white/church wedding reception. |
