Even with that it will not work! Have you seen the wedding party?

I was about to say something similar, security can only minimize uninvited guests not stop them.
But it'll definitely go viral on social media of a bride in her dress fighting guests because of food.

Events / Re: Lady Is Her Brother's Best Man At His Wedding In Nigeria (Photos) by researcher16: 4:01pm On Apr 06, 2017
the idea of bestman is a foreign concept, particularly the suit wearing part of it, we as Nigerians can modify it to suit our own preferences. I saw 1 the other day on NL where the lady who was part of the groomsmen wasn't even related to the guy.
Events / Parents And Nigerian Weddings by researcher16: 5:39pm On Mar 30, 2017
From my experience I've noticed parents (including older aunties, uncles, cousins, relatives and close family friends) play a significant role in the planning of a Nigerian wedding. Even when they are not directly involved in the minute details of the planning they appear to hold significant Veto-power on what can and can't be done (sometimes including when they do not financially contribute to the budget). Any one have similar or different experiences? Also, any opinions on why it appears so?

Hope yoruba wedding won't be added to the types of wedding to be done before one is legally married o...already we are aware of the stress that comes with traditional marriage and white wedding, the way it's going i pray this should never happen

Wednesday...yoruba marriage

Thursday...traditional marriage

Saturday...white wedding

haha, you're suggesting Yoruba wedding becomes a national type of wedding in it's own right

It's true there is cultural pressure to spend over your means, but really it's about creating and preserving a special feeling at the time.
We all pay a lot to feel good about ourselves.

Please explain what you mean by cultural pressure? Thank you.

Beautiful. But who introduced cake to traditional weddings na? Or is it the signs of the times we're in?

I think it started as a way to make your trad more unique compared to other trads that didn't have cakes, but now it has become the norm. But what i find interesting is the range of creativity that goes into the trad cakes, there's a thread here where they used the cake to build a small compound with 3 huts and like 4-5 people sitting in traditional attire, all part of the cake. Again, it's just a way to make your own wedding different from the others. If the trend continues, we might start to see trad cakes becoming more expensive and extravagant than that at the white/church wedding reception.
