Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by rhosymedre: 8:42pm On Oct 08 |
rhosymedre: @GloryJoyeux (and at all) I've been carefully reading through that your great post and picking things and, like I said, with questions to follow. So my first question/s please: Assuming I stick to a 5KVA inverter, will a 24v system (instead of 48v) work and, if so, will a single 24v 200ah and 5.12kvh Lifepo4 battery work; and, assuming I want to use two 24v 200ah and 5.12kvh Lifepo4 batteries, will the system need to change to a 48 v system? Thanks again. |

bassdow: Thanks sooo much; I'm truly grateful and will be studying this your post further as part of my research. Thanks once again. |

GloryJoyeux: Wow wow wow! I'm thoroughly and totally blown and I am truly and deeply very grateful The thing is that from what I have read here my understanding was that 2x200ah Lifepo4 (of the spec you've used i.e. 48v if I recall correctly) is a better option than a single 7.5v. I was therefore surprised when the installer suggested the single 7.5 over the two 2x200s. I am now going to calmly and carefully go through your incredible post for better understanding as part of my research ahead of choosing/agreeing the system. I am truly very very grateful once again .... but don't be surprised if I come up with more questions or seek further clarification in the next few days please. Thanks again. 2 Likes |

bassdow: Thanks again, appreciated. I will still be grateful for further input especially on this issue: " I am confused whether 2 x 200ah Lifepo4 will be enough or whether a single 7.5kwh Lifepo4 battery is necessary ...." |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by rhosymedre: 7:21pm On Oct 07 |
bassdow: Many thanks for reply. For now we have decided to exclude air conditioners; so, something like * 1 medium/large TV e.g. 40 inches and 4 small TVs of 24 inches each * 1 standard fridge (nothing big) and one small deep freezer * 1 water pumping machine * About 8 standing fans (will go for low power consuming fans) * All electric bulbs in a 5 bedroom house Thanks again. |

Hello everyone, both expert contributors and all others. I have been quietly reading here for some time to learn more. I would be grateful for your help on one or two things. 1. What really is the capacity of a 200ah Lifepo4 battery? We are planning a system, excluding air conditioners, with four 580w Jinko panels and a 7.5kva Inverter; I am confused whether 2 x 200ah Lifepo4 will be enough or whether a single 7.5kwh Lifepo4 battery is necessary as someone has suggested to me. 2. Please advise on whether the Felicity Lifepo4 batteries are reliable. 3. Please advise on whether the Felicity 7.5kva transformer based inverter is reliable. Many many thanks in advance. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Professor Oditah SAN - "No Excuse For DSS Desecration of Rule of Law" by rhosymedre: 9:42am On Oct 12, 2016 |
Professor Akin Oyebode “I think it’s a sad day for Nigeria, because you don’t break the law in order to implement the law,” said Mr. Oyebode. “Which is what the DSS seem to be saying, that because of the inaction or lack of cooperation by the NJC they had to resort to self-help. “In fact, my gut reaction is that this might be the handiwork of fifth columnists, those that want to do in the government of Buhari. “I’m not sure a Buhari who has touted himself as a born again democrat, welded to the notion of rule of law will authorise the outrageous act by the DSS. “So either some people…misguided…who want to impress the powers that be by their work decided to go for broke in that respect. And I think it should be deprecated because there are so many rules of law that have been breached. “And their subsequent comments, almost trying to try the accused in newspapers and what have you, because the accused have presumption of innocence and the onus of proof is on the state, and the onus is proved beyond reasonable doubt. “You had given the impression that you have basis and reasons for what you did and you have not ensured that the public hears the side of the arrested persons, which is unfair.” Mr. Oyebode said under the Nigerian Constitution, the task of discipline in the judiciary lays solely with the NJC who investigate and isolate the judge if found culpable. “Now having separated the judge who had been found wanting in terms of his calling and judicial oath – you know there’s a judicial oath that judges swear when they are appointed, to do justice to all manner of persons without fear, affection or ill-will to be very neutral, non-partisan, fair to everybody, and not bend the scales of justice in favour of any accused person. That’s the judicial oath. “So if any of them is found to have violated that oath, definitely he should be removed from the judiciary. The removal from the judiciary will lay the foundations for trial for any criminal act, say bribery and corruption . “But the way things turned out, the DSS is the accuser, the jury, and almost the executioner. It’s not done.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/212535-law-professor-oyebode-criticises-sss-arrest-judges.html |

Prof Bankole Sodipo, said: “I am against corruption and corrupt judges but I am against the manner the judges have been treated. The rule of law is a safety valve. No investment takes place in a country where the rule of law is not respected. Leaders who do not respect the rule of law often become despots. Buhari was once a despot. We must oppose the agencies that are depicting Buhari as a leader that has not changed. I voted for Buhari, who vowed he is not that same person who ruled us a little over 30 years ago with Decree 4 and fear. I implore Buhari to dispel this fear as Idi Amin started like that. Once the judiciary is ridiculed, the last hope of the common man is gone. Let us follow due process.’’ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/crackdown-judges-sad-regrettable-cjn/ 1 Like |

"Like most Nigerians I woke up with that breaking news. I felt very sad because, the commando style arrests and attempted abduction of serving judicial officers are entirely misguided, represent a further misadventure in our democratic journey, and threaten to return the country to its recent dark days." "The manner of the arrests and attempted abduction represents the height of impunity and breakdown of law and order." "In all circumstances, the rule of law must prevail. There can be no excuse for the shameful desecration of the rule of law by the DSS." "We cannot condone such jungle justice under any pretext and I fear that the misguided actions of the DSS have done more harm than good, to the fight against corruption." "The DSS is seeking to return us to the rule of force, but that can only presage a breakdown of law and order." " Whatever the alleged crimes are, there must be due process. Was any of the Judges invited for interrogation and refused? Are public officers suspected of crimes arrested by the DSS in such commando style? We must strengthen our institutions rather than weaken them." " The actions of the DSS show how very weak our institutions are, and how they can be manipulated and misused for ulterior purposes." We need strong and independent institutions, not strong Presidents or DSS Directors." http://leadersandco.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/10220355/LAWYER-OCT-11.pdf 3 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Stealing Is Not Corruption - Ekpo Nta, ICPC Boss by rhosymedre: 10:07am On Mar 23, 2016 |
"Stealing" can be different from corruption. Consider these Scenarios 1. A government official is driving on the road with his convoy and escorts; with their sirens and unruly nature, they bully other road users out of the way and even damage their vehicles. That IS CORRUPTION even though it is not stealing! 2. A government official dips into his department's budget and diverts one billion naira to his own account. That is STEALING; it should not be dignified with the nicer word "corruption" - (though technically, it can also be called corruption). 3. A clerk in a government office demands egunje/gratuity/'PR' of 2000 naira before releasing a form to a member of the public who needs it. That IS corruption --- but not quite stealing. 4. A person goes to an airport or government office; he offers a 'gift' or really bribe of 5,000 naira to officials so that he can do/get something he is not lawfully entitled to. That is CORRUPTION ---- even though it is not stealing. 5. A male university lecturer pressurises a female student into sexual relationship with the threat of failing her. That is CORRUPTION ---- though it is not stealing. 6. A student offers a gift or bribe to a lecturer ---- so as to get better marks or even exam questions. That is CORRUPTION even though it is not stealing. 7. A state governor collects security vote from federal allocation and diverts it into his own account for personal use. That is STEALING and is really only dignified by the word "corruption"; the governor is a thief or "stealer" not merely corrupt. So you see, when understood properly, the statement that "ordinary stealing, they are calling it corruption" is actually correct! 7 Likes |

Does any one have or know the list of the music played by the military band during the parade? I know that one of them is the C & S song 'Lo Kede Ayo na' but I really wish to know the title of one of the songs played a little earlier than that one. Thanks. |
