I thought RSA is a country with solid socio-political foundation. Are you allowed to navigate the Internet without adult supervision? If the only reason you and most RSA slatterns date Nigerian men is money, one wonders where the hell Nigerian men got the money. Since you have publicly admitted RSA girls date Nigerians because of money, may I ask you if Nigerian men grow the money as farmers grow crops? If you eat with a devil jackass, you are undeniably a devil.

You are the one with two year old mentality here. I said to you google crime rate in SA before you people were allowed to come into SA. And yes I blame you people for the high levels of crime in SA becouse before you were allowed to come in here with drugs and all your evil scams to make money crime was not at this level. Fact is we might have high levels of reported hiv/ aids levels but it started somewhere else in Africa not in SA since we allowed your likes in, SA has had to bear with such ills. And anyway why do you have to use hiv for any discussions about SA when Nigerian stats is unknown. Him who lough last laough best! Word.

The thing is given the small population of SA compared to Nigeria, one would expect the figures for HIV/AIDs, and violent crimes to be smaller than that of Nigeria which according to ur theory 'exports' crime, but it is not. That should tell u something. Stop being in denial and blaming ur issues on the next man. Do u have half as many Nigerians in SA than there are in US, UK, Germany and even Dubai? Why are they not blaming Nigeria for their crime rates? Why do they have lower crime rates than SA has ever recorded, pre and post apartheid?

You have hit the nail on the head. Yesterday we read that 22 out of a 32 man fruad gang were Nigerians. We have lost our values system, that is why we misbehave everywhere we go. It is just that we cannot discriminate against Nigerians in Nigeria, otherwise some people would.

We come from a society where money rules. Only money is recognised and we believe that if we have money we can do whatever we like whereever we like. Unfortunately that works in Nigeria but not everywhere else. We are all to blame and that includes the government. The government and people all celebrate criminals and thieves. They are the leaders of the society and they are the ones recognised and rewarded. That is why everyone is hustling to join them by all and any means. If you commit the biggest crime in Nigeria, your money will bail you out so everyone is hustling hard to get it however they can!

@ colored
U will retract that statement if you go through Nairaland thoroughly. When people are busy blaming one tribe or the other for any misfortune? Sad!

berem: 110 People Die In Multiple Accidents On Benin-lagos,onitsha-owerri Expressways

A major road crash involving a Truck, a Tanker and a Luxury bus occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Friday, today at Ugboguii Village on the Benin-Ore express road, the Federal Road Safety Corps is reporting.

No fewer than 110 people died yesterday in multiple accidents on Benin-Lagos expressway and Onitsha-Owerri expressway. This is coming barely one week after 18 persons perished in an auto crash on Lokoja-Abuja road. In the Benin-Lagos expressway accident, over 80 persons were roasted to death in multiple accidents involving a trailer, tanker, luxury bus and other vehicles, while in the Onitsha-Owerri road accident about 30 people lost their lives when a trailer collided with two mini-buses at Ihiala.

Saturday Sun gathered that among the dead in the Benin-Lagos expressway accident are the driver of the trailer, his assistant and 57 passengers in the luxury bus and occupants of other vehicles affected. Three passengers of the luxury bus, who survived the accident, were badly burnt. According to eyewitness, the accident occurred at Ugbogui, near Ofosu, in Ovia South-West when a cement-laden trailer reportedly had a burst tyre and rammed into a petrol tanker carrying fuel. The fuel tanker had hit a fully loaded luxury bus, which burst into flames.

It was gathered that the spillage of petrol on the road had set other vehicles on fire, including commercial and private cars. About 20 other vehicles were burnt in the process. At the accident scene, there were charred bodies of the passengers in the carcass of the burnt luxury bus and other vehicles. Some passengers in other vehicles, who had got down, were seen shedding tears over the horrible death of the victims. The accident had caused a heavy traffic jam, as personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stopped vehicular movement on both sides of the expressway to avoid further disaster.

Confirming the story, an official of FRSC, who pleaded anonymity, explained that the trailer was coming from Lagos, while the tanker and luxury bus were travelling in the opposite direction. FRSC personnel and the police had mounted rescue operation at the scene of the accident. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, while the road was being cleared to create a thoroughfare for vehicles. Also, firefighters, who later arrived the scene of the accident, battled to put out the fire caused by the explosion of the tanker.

A passenger, who was travelling to Lagos from the East, said they were stuck in traffic for close to four hours because of the accident. "We were in one spot for about four hours. Movement on both sides of the road was stopped by FRSC. We had to make a detour through a bush path, through villages to cross the scene of accident," he said. In a related development, 30 persons lost their lives, while six others sustained various degrees of injury yesterday, when a trailer collided with two mini-buses at Ihiala, on Onitsha-Owerri expressway.

The two commuter buses, which were said to belong to Rivers State Transport Company, were heading for Onitsha from Port Harcourt when the accident occurred at Ihiala in Anambra State, along the ever-busy Onitsha/Owerri expressway, Anambra State. The trailer, it was gathered, was joining the expressway, after offloading crates of beer when the two buses rammed into it.

Thirty passengers died on the spot, while some others sustained injury. When Saturday Sun visited the scene, the vehicles involved in the accident were lying there, while officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and policemen were taking the dead to the morgue, while the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. Commenting on the incident, Chairman of Ihiala branch of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Chief Emmanuel Egbunonu, expressed shock at the spate of auto accidents in the area.

He appealed to the Federal Government and the FRSC to help the communities along the expressway. He also advised motorists to always observe speed limits and traffic rules in order to minimise accidents on the road.

@ bolded
the news crew should get their facts right before rushing to the prints. The said luxury bus contained 30 passengers as it was a small luxury bus not all those big luxury bus. At least the manifest provided for FRSC shows 30 names, some didn't include phone number nor next of kin number. R.I.P. to the departed.

Nothing will be done to fix the road as has been the case for many years unless a govt official dies there, and chances of that happening is very slim as they can pay anything to bump a passenger off a flight and get the ticket. They don't use our highways, but one day one day...

Get your comparisons straight. Nigerians go abroad to do menial jobs. You see Nigerian Lawyers driving Dollar Vans in the US because it helps them better provide for their family in Nigeria. Some work 20 years and then go back and live like a king.
The foreigners that go to Nigeria don't go to drive Dollar Vans, do home health aid jobs and earn minimum wage. They go to Nigeria to do big business and provide services we sometimes don't have. They make millions in Nigeria because they come with money from their country and because we kiss foreign ass. Nigerians run abroad with nothing.
Nigeria isn't hell fire but let's be honest.

I'm not saying Nigeria doesn't have issues, we have dem plenty but not amplified the way the western media paints it like every kid outta Africa has kwashiorkor.
A lot of these foreigners don't come with any money, they come borrowing from our very own banks and like u pointed out, we kiss foreign ass. I understand that some of our people in foreign lands work their butts off doing all sorts of jobs and I respect that knowing there is dignity in Labor, but the LCM of the matter is just the EXCHANGE RATE. What irks me is how a lot of them are quick to castigate anything Nigerian. Nigeria is not safe, it is primitive, it is this, it is that! We are managing it that way and with all our complaints and headaches, we try to cope because we see opportunities and try to make the best out of them. Some of our diaspora brethren after all the castigation, still come back to take permanent residence once a political appointment is in the offing and then they start enjoying the HELL HOLE. I understand that some say the things they say because they don't have much to come back with to set up shop thus the excuses, but what about those that have the influence to make a good living from here and create employment for the youth? We are all quick to say that today's youth in Nigeria lack exposure and education but we are the ones setting them up for failure all because we are looking for ways to line up our pockets faster. Tune in to any local tv station, STV, Galaxy, TVC etc and the only thing u get to see would be either news or music videos, or one celebrity wannabe reality show. No educative and informative programmes like there used to be back in the days. The only thing they know is showbiz because we are not doing our bit well and we are inundating these youths with BS. We all (local and diaspora) need to help educate these youths otherwise in less than 15 years, all professional jobs(medicine, law, Engr etc) would have been outsourced because our youths are trying to become overnight stars. The same 'abroad' that Nigerians go is the same 'abroad' that Indians, Lebanese and westerners go to when they come to Nigeria, but the difference is they still recognize home and the need to help develop home and that is why they repatriate all their funds home. It is not mandatory for all diasporans to think that way, but the few that give it a thought should not be discouraged. What doesn't work for you might actually work wonders for the next person, it all depends on the approach and methods employed.

@The rest of the people who replied,i will like to offer my profound gratitude that you took time to share your wisdom with me.They say he who asks for direction never gets lost.

I am first and foremost a proud Nigerian who has genuine love and concern for my country. The truth is that no matter how successful you are abroad, you will always miss home.It just does not feel the same and you start to ache and dream about home.No amount of money or comfort can fix that ache hence why i have made some effort to move home.

Thanks to all your inputs i now have a clear understanding of what i need to do which will be as follow:

(A) Visit Nigeria for a month and survey the environment where i want to be based

(B) Go back to SA and hand over my businesses to capable managers.

(C) Relocate to Nigeria solo and reside in Nigeria for 6 months preparing school and other necessities for my family

(D) At the end of my solo research determine if my family can adapt to the Nigerians lifestyle

(F) Bring my family to Nigeria ,settle down and move on with life

Thank you all and GOD bless.

Please stop applying “Agbero” logic and comprehend the reason for the thread.Who are you to ask me to close the thread? If you don't have anything intelligent to offer then don't comment. I did request for mature adults to post, didn’t i?

Secondly please don't assume you know my wife ,this "educated illiterate" attitude of talking about people’s wives that you have never met before is one of the reason why Nigerians are perceived to be uncouth in some quarters. If your brain is overheating and you cannot contribute anything of substance, you can keep quiet and be a spectator. There are at least 30 topics on the front page ,why is this one itching you?

I am sure you have married every SA woman that you know that they will never come to Nigeria undecided Your post is just the ramblings of a short sighted intellectually challenged goof.[/b]Stick to the topic ,the next thing you will talking about is what color my wife's underwear is. Jeez, it is extremely hard to keep ones cool around regressive ramblers like you. No form of intelligence whatsoever. If this was an exam you would have failed.

Rossikk: Another diaspora goat. Anyone notice that the majority of people trying to scare the op are those who don't actually live in Nigeria themselves? Most haven't been back home in several YEARS yet they are offering 'advice' to the op. op please ignore them. They are trying to justify to themselves why they themselves are 'runaways'. They have no clue.

The BOLDED IS the reason why so many diasporans spend donkey years running Naija down with their mouths only to come back and ...oh! A lot of their peers are actually doing well for themselves. They make it sound like Naija is the only place crime and scams exist. The only difference is other nationalities will not run down their nations in ur presence, no matter how bad the situation is. Bad as e bad,

filipinnos are moving in,
Lebanese are too
so also are Americans and brits
SAfricans too
And with the whole Africom thing, the French and US numbers will increase.
Indians and Chinese will own Nigeria by the time the op brings himself to a decision.
And the influx of foreigners keeps increasing since ur govt is begging them for so called DFI(direct foreign investment).
Meanwhile by the time the op discovers that he doesn't really have Nigerian kids, he would have grown old. SA WIVES WILL NEVER COME HOME PERMANENTLY WITH YOU. E NOR DEY HAPPEN BEFORE, NOR BE UR OWN CASE E GO USE START.

Tnks for ur time.

Am getting to increase our profit margin I need to go more specialise. At the moment it's mainly medium and super but my plans for that baery was that i ud be doing a lot of breads and cake dat we enjoy here.

We we will get there I think I need to get more involved.

Pls can u help me, I need a reliable printer that can print on nylon and also do some bright coloured labels.

Scour the internet for printers, there are many Nigerian printers online. Try Vconnect dot com to get a list of printers and their addresses. Tell them what u want and let them send u samples to ur email or send u links to view some of their samples. At this stage, watch how and who u ask for help. Many people can take advantage of ur situation if u are not careful enough. The internet is there but for some reason, Nigerians in diaspora seem to think u cant get online services in Naija. But just like everything else, do due diligence before releasing money for anything. Get ur sis to check out whoever u are dealing with so u know they are for real.

U need to be VERY INVOLVED in the business, after all it is ur pet project. DONT leave anything to chance! While u specialize on the type of confectionery u want to be making, think of ur TARGET CLIENTELLE AND THEIR MINDSET and how to reach them. U cant be selling 'agege bread' in VGC unless ur target is the menial labour population like gatemen, house helps, e.t.c.

Over the past two years i have sent money home to arrange a place for me and my family to reside in and have done a lot of research to determine what I will do when I get to Nigeria.

All my plans however have been put in disarray with the worsening Political, Infrastructural and Security problems in Nigeria. I just learnt yesterday that there has been close to 10 kidnappings in the lekki axis where i own a property and this just worries me.

Living abroad all these years has definitely "spoilt" me. Now i am used to constant electricity & water, good roads ,clean open market, parks , cheap ADSL internet, advanced security , strong currency , efficient service providers ,quick access to modern technology , world class medical facilities e.t.c All these things makes my life easy and enables me to earn a decent living. My wife is South African just as my kids are and they are also spoiled by the easy life in South Africa.

The recent state of kidnappings in Nigeria has scared my wife who was once eager to move to Nigeria to become reluctant to move. As everyday passes I see the hope of moving to Nigeria with my family fading away. My In laws have even made it clear to me that they do not want their daughter moving permanently to Nigeria because of the kidnapping situation. I have tried defending Nigeria in their presence but everyday news of bombing or kidnapping emanates from Nigeria.

My question to all Nairalanders especially the ones in Nigeria is this :

(A) If you were in my shoes what will you do?

(B) Is it worth it to come back to Nigeria at this time or should I wait a few more years till the security situation get better?

(C) Should I leave my family in South Africa, come back to Nigeria and visit SA once every two months?

Please only serious minded people need reply and please none of that “I am the first to comment” nonsense. This is a thread directed at mature adults with some level of intelligence. Thank you.

Virgin Finder: Nigerians are extremely ruinous people, most of them.
They can't be trusted, not even your family members.

By the time you return home to inspect your business, your sister would've built a house, bought 2 cars and opened her own bakery off your sweat.

Who is a fool? How can you stay over and expect someone to do all the hard work for you just like that.

Nigerians are not that human o.

Even under your very watchful eyes, you'll find them trying to defraud you not to talk about when you are miles away.
Madam, you are on a long thing

It is this kind of mentality that keeps Nigerians abroad for donkey years only for them to come back in their old age with jeans and shampoo head and nothing else to show for it. The world is getting smaller by the day and instant communication and information is just a click away, why don't u use it?

The bakery is in ikpoba hill, aduwawa.

Our sales is not great, we just bought a van to help wit distribution.

Bakers are not staying for long we ve been looking for bakery helper for sometime wit no luck.

Once we register the van am hoping sales will increase.

In my opinion,

1. ur business is still very young and u are too much in a hurry to start making profits. You don't even have the framework on ground yet and u expect profits?

2. Did you formulate a business plan for the venture cos it sounds to me like u just upped and poured money into venture?

3. If u set out with a plan from the onset, then u should know that 2-3 months is not enough to break even. Stick to the plan with only minor adjustments due to operational realities on ground.

4. Our people can be dubious BUT before u start blaming ur sister, how much do u know about how the business is being run?
5. What kind of bread do u make? Who are ur target clientele? What are u doing to reach out to them and get them to patronize u? What incentives are u offering them? Why should they buy less of some other baker's products and more of yours? Or do you expect them to just jump at ur bread? Na ur bread sweet pass for Benin? Ur sales are only as good as ur marketing strategy. Even companies with less than average quality products still make a killing with the right marketing mix.

5. U LIVE IN THE UK AND U CANT SEE THE SALES ADVANTAGE IN THAT EVEN WHEN NAIJA DEY WORSHIP ANYTHING EFFIZY WORTHY? How attractive is your packaging and how appealing is ur bread to the eye? Does ur bread wrapper contain ur uk mobile number as one of customer care hotlines? Do you call customers randomly to keep a tab on sales and for PR purposes?

6. How often are u in touch with ur sister? How many times a day do u call her or BBM her to keep tab on operations? How many of ur workers do u have their contacts and do u reach out to them at all? I don't know ur sister, but I don't think she should run the business. You can let her oversee things generally while she is on a stipulated salary or COMMISSION(preferrable) but not run the business. Employ someone with experience and let her manage the person if necessary. If she doesn't like the terms and conditions, she will look for something else to do with her life or like someone said earlier, give her a parting gift. Get POS machines and let customers pay directly into ur account at the swipe of a card. Do online transfers to an operational account for purchases and sundry expenses.

7. I concur with what Bigheart2013 said in his post and this is just an addition. 4mil is reasonable to start that kind of business but will do a lot more if u planned well ahead. What usually prevails is that people just do a little research and pump money into a business because they have it, and when the venture flops it is easy to blame it on the next guy. A lot of people here who got burnt probably did not do their own research and relied heavily on the info their kith and kin provided them with only the expected profit margin ringing in their ears like door bells. If u want to start a business that would be run by proxy, it is usually best u start and run it urself for a couple of months to really get first hand experience. So I suggest next time u can get a leave, come down to benin and run it for a couple of months, that way u get to know the challenges and strategize on how to surmount them. We have foreigners owning businesses in Nigeria and running them by proxy through the same Nigerians that everyone is quick to call criminals. How do they do it? One way is they employ locals and get their 'brothers'(countrymen)to manage everyone else without really having that power to squander funds. Take Lebanese businesses in Nigeria for example, some of their operations are structured to undergo approval from UAE,Qatar or wherever else their HQ is located and very often, the real management teams make unexpected trips to inspect operations. I know urs is a small scale venture compared to those, but u could take a cue from them. UR REAL PROFIT COMES WHEN U HAVE A STEADILY GROWING LIST OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS. UR FIRST TASK IS TO GET THEM HOOKED ON U.

Mustay: If successful companies and institutions were built on sentiments, they wouldn't have got to where the apex of success.

I've read so many analyses on this issue bit whilst we can't force opinions on each other, I still belong to the school of thought that Mr. Shem messed up his organization big time! Blame my business background but sincerely writing, my objective and unbiased assessment of the show was the Value For Money he gave not to the public.

There are 2 cases that come to mind - a US journalist was mocked for asking silly questions (had Mo'Farah run before she asked) when she interviewed Mo' Farah (Britain's Olympic). She didn't know he was an Olympian because she did not do her homework before she went out. Mo later defended La Tonya for the MISTAKE.

The second is IBM sparing an employee for costing the organisation $600,000. Tom Watson said, "No, I just spent $600,000 training him. Why would I want somebody to hire his experience?"

We all make mistakes, we are not perfect but in performance management, merit takes over sentiments. Mr. Shem is a public officer. Those who get to the post where he was don't get there by just jumping there - they earn it. In light of the fake recruitment websites cloning NSCDC as an organisation, this must have been a problem to the NSCDC. This means it must have been brought to the attention of the top hierarchy of the NSCDC.

When you visit the Job board here on NL, you can't but pity those who have been duped by fraudsters. When others tell them a recruiter is fake, they pray for such a person. Some, even reveal that they had already parted with their money and bought new shoes and clothes for some phantom interview/tests.

Are we thinking about how NSCDC is losing money to fraudsters? Are we thinking of those stakeholders who really wanted NSCDC to clarify things? This is no small issue you can wave with the hand. Fraudsters are also stepping up their game.

Mr. Shem needn't be a PRO to know the AUTHENTIC website of NSCDC. However, where I would've been sentimental is if he did not insist on his 'gra gra' with the journalists - I also don't see how the journalists forced him to say all he said. Keywords - humility and pride. Ignorance and arrogance is a terrible mix - Mr. Shem poured these into his cup.

Leadership is not easy but there's a reason why the cap is given to those it fits the most. Lessons can be learnt from all and sundry - if a greater % of Nigerians took their jobs seriously, we won't be where we are now.

Seconded. What concerns me most is the fact that he is supposed to be a security operative who should be vigilant at all times. If he wasn't vigilant enough to notice albeit passively the website address on memos and circulars tossed back and forth within the organisation, then how can he operate in the field where dangers lurk around? Does it mean he never got or personally opened any electronic memos sent to him from his superiors? He should have humbly told the presenters that he couldn't remember the exact site ad, but would furnish it at a later time and it would have been a more honest goof than the arrogance he displayed thereon. Nigerians and their sit tight mentality, he should have known it was coming to this and done some damage control by resigning honourably with a well written apology for embarrassing the NSCDC. He would have earned more respect instead of pity that some people are now showering on him. But no! He probably had to go cap in hand with some 'elders' to the same oga at the top to beg for his job. Anybody can make a mistake but certain mistakes from certain people can't be overlooked. His major mistake being a dangerous blend of ignorance and arrogance.

Politics / Re: Do You Perform The Citizens Obligations As A Nigerian? by Rimbaldi: 11:21pm On Mar 31, 2013
bilms: Do you perform the obligations of a citizen as a Nigerian? Besides the rights individual enjoys as a citizen of a state,he also has some obligations. These obligations can be summarized as follows: 1. A citizen is expected to place the interest of the state before other interest. 2. A citizen must obey the laws of the state 3. He or she must defend the state against internal and external enemies. 4. Must uphold the honour and dignity of the state. 5. Must respect the symbol of the state and 6. Must pay tax. How many Nigerian can boarst confidently to be performing his duties as citizens?

THINK NOT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR NIGERIA, BUT WHAT NIGERIA CAN DO FOR YOU! NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CAN BE LIKENED TO MODERN PASTORS. THEY DO NOTHING FOR YOU AND WANT TO TAKE ALL YOU'VE GOT!

oyunoyun:

in every war there are casualties on both parties but loss pass loss, recently gaza fired 1000 rockets to Israel, Israel destroyed 99% of them by iron domes without hitting target, while Israel fired just tens and almost finished gaza, casualties 1% to 99%, that is what we are talking about, in addition to existing sophisticated weapons, B-sealth, super drones, bio air, hydro and surface missiles,US develops micro drones like toddler toys that can enter anywhere and cause irrepairable wreckage for generations without any american leaving his shore, as matter of fact in the US universities the greatest government funding on research goes to new discovery about war weapon and military training, to every new weapon developed by any country, America will develop 1000 worth more in a jiffy, to what I have seen here and know , America try to acquire to themselves brains and genius of the world just for a time like this.......... those that have a taste of war never ....... hunnn

It was this same 'larger than life' attitude that Israel had a few years ago but the last two wars embarked upon demystified them. Everybody is moving forward in terms of warfare(except Nigeria of course). With all the fighter crafts and sophisticated weaponry US had prior to Vietnam war, they still got embarrassed by the viets and got they a.s.s whooped. You still need foot on the ground in warfare unless you are planning a holocaust which would nowhere near end well for you too.

cap28: The US dollar is on the verge of collapse with experts forecasting China dumping the dollar in large quantities by May this year which will ultimately trigger other countries to dump it as well - time is running out for the US economy, what better way to divert attention away from the impending collapse of their economy than to focus on a non existent threat from north korea?

@cap28
always a discerning eye.
@shymmex
keep your arguments factual, ignore those hurling invectives at you, they watch too much cnn and bbc.

In my own opinion, I don't think US can really afford this war, too much debts already and a crumbling economy. Sooner than later the band aid is gonna go off and they'll have real issues to deal with.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: How To Connect Your DVR/CCTV Camera To Internet. by Rimbaldi: 11:14pm On Mar 24, 2013
imekus: Hi,for those of us that is asking whether is possible to connect your DVR/CCTV camera to Internet
via USB modem in there lap top.The answer is no You are trying to set up a VPN on an internal network? You must have a switch or router or modem or something somewhere? You are going to have a hard time keeping track of an IP address with a 4G stick.

Requirements:
1.Your Ethernet adapter or Router if you it branded router from network providers
they should assign your an IP.

3.USB modem if you want to make use of usb Internet access if the ISP allowed it.

4.DVR depend on the number of camera your are using if it 8 camere=8 channel DVR
16 camera=16 channel DVR etc

5.Networking Cable connector may be Cat 5.

How to connect your DVR with USB Mordem.

1. Buy GMS Modem (look like flashdisk)
2. Buy Router 3.75G

3. Plug GSM to Router,
4. ensure that the Modem can be detected, and Connected to Internet
5. Set your Router to forward yor DVR Port
6. Connect your DVR to your Router

Connecting your DVR to Internet:
Connect your DVR to your router
Use menu on DVR to assign internal IP and gateway and port number.

This Local IP must be in the same Gateway range as the Router. If you are unsure check the Router and locate the Status section, or goto the Command prompt of Windows XP and type in ipconfig.

Look for Gateway. If the Gateway is 192.168.1.1, then you can make the DVR's IP anything from 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.255. and ping the ip to know whether if there is any other one or application using it if there is find another number.

Also you will need to use the same SubNet Mask, which is typically 255.255.255.0, and also use the same gateway.
Next find out what port your DVR uses. The easiest way to it is by reading the manual of your DVR. Look for the network section of it.

Also if it comes with network software, check out if in the connection area the software shows the port number.

Also check the Server software/Programming (Network section of it) to see if the port is listed.

In many cases it will be as simple as just Port 80, which is an HTTP port.
Set your router to forward chosen port to internal IP address of DVR.

To access the Router itself, use the Gateway you just located. If the gateway is 192.168.1.1, then enter that into the location edit box of your browser and then click the Enter button. A username and a password are typically required, but it depends on a router. For Linksys use "admin", "admin". By default DLink doesn't require any username or password (It is highly recommended to change the default password).

Once you're logged into the Router, in the Applications & Gaming Section / Servers of the Router, you need to add a Server/Application. Enter the port number and select TCP only. Where it says Port 0 to 0 enter the same port number twice. Or if your DVR uses for example, ports 3550, 4550, 5550, 6550, and there is nothing else utilizing these ports in between, then you can actually just enter one line, 3550 - 6550.

Enter the DVR/Cameras internal IP.

Enable it.
Quote: Originally Posted by Example

LOCAL IP = 192.168.1.200
ENABLED = CHECKED

OR

NAME = Anything you want
Port = 3550 TO 6550
TCP/UDP = TCP
LOCAL IP = 192.168.1.200
ENABLED = CHECKED

Set up additional entries for as many ports the DVR uses, to the same local IP. Check your DVR manual and it's networking section for all additional ports required. Also check the DVR software itself.

If your router has enough free entries, you can separate them. Use it like DVR_HTTP for the browser port, DVR_AUDIO for the audio port, etc.

If you are going to use VNC to a PC DVR, then you would need to set up port 5900, and perhaps call it VNC_DVR, for example.

so No you have successfully connected you DVR to Internet to view your residence or office from any part of the world Type the ip address of your DVR followed by port no eg,192.168.1.1:8080

that is all,If you Have any question do not Hesitate or recommendation on the typeof cameras and DVR to get suite the surveillance location of your home and offices and where to get them at reasonable amount:
