BabaOwen: Only thing that the USA can sanction directly is the Super Tucano deal, but I doubt it will happen as it will give impetus for Nigeria to disregard any sanctions against Russia and go for the remaining Mi-35m helos. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by rka1: 10:59pm On Dec 03, 2020 |
BabaOwen: The problem is from no one. The aircraft payment had a sovereign guarantee pledged by the Pakistani Government in 2018 for the 3 aircraft and the installments in the Nigerian budget is to the Pakistani Government. The aircraft manufacturers have been paid. As already explained, a combination of factors have delayed it this year, the main one being COVID as the pilot and maintenance personnel training commenced late. What, you will deliver the aircraft without pilots or maintenance engineers to look after it? Go and look at the time line for the order and delivery of the F35B in the UK. Check any western orders for new aircraft, even by Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc and look at the time line for when they commenced delivery of the first few aircraft. So, 2 years is not long for the JF-17. |

Heartlessbanker: It takes time to manufacture depending on the complexity of the aircraft. Also, the aircraft are used to train your pilots and technicians before being delivered. No point delivering the aircraft if nobody to man them or look after them. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by rka1: 3:37pm On Dec 03, 2020 |
davidmarker: It was only confirmed and given the go-ahead in 2018 as I already explained. Every other time it was unconfirmed and in the case of the previous CAS, showboating. Yes, it can actually take 5 years and longer from when a deal is agreed for an aircraft to delivery and examples are the UK & US. I have not even mentioned the limited ability of the Pakistanis to produce the jets in enough quantity for themselves as well as other vendors. So you think the pilots training in Pakistan at the moment and preparations being made to receive the jets is living in an alternate reality? Please don't run away when they arrive o! I would like your opinion then |

LTGEN: Yeah! It's what they do. They can't separate politics from anything. Imagine hating your country's military? BTW, the below might explain the Mi-17E being from Serbia as a way to avoid sanctions imposed on Russia. "The NAF said the aircraft was the second acquired from Serbia. However, it is likely the aircraft was manufactured in Russia and possibly acquired through a Serbian broker as flight tracking data shows the helicopter was delivered aboard Ilyushin Il-76TD RA-76502 operated by Russian private charter carrier Aviacon Zitotrans, which flew the transport from central Russia to North Africa on 1 December, bypassing Serbia. The Il-76TD took off from near Kazan, Russia, where Mi-8/17 helicopters are manufactured at the Kazan Helicopters factory." https://www.defenceweb.co.za/aerospace/military-helicopters/nigerian-air-force-receives-another-mi-171-helicopter/ 4 Likes |

I bet you will be conspicuous by your absence on this forum when it comes. I suppose the accommodation being built for the Pakistani pilots and technicians in Makurdi is a dream? Come on, you can do better. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by rka1: 12:32pm On Dec 03, 2020 |
davidmarker: Bro, unlike before, we have seen the aircraft in Pakistan and also seen NAF pilots being trained in Pakistan (unlike before when they hadn't been payed for.) The construction of 3 JF-17 only started when the Pakistani Government gave a sovereign guarantee for the sum of the contract in 2018. The delay could be anything from pilot training not yet completed to logistics on delivery. If there is any guarantee with this CAS, it is that things get done. 1 Like |

kabe1: Exactly. For me I am a military enthusiast and try to stay away from politics. I was born in Nigeria and regardless of who is in power, I don't want to see the country burn based on unsubstantiated or badly put together reports. I can step away and say I don't care because I don't live in Nigeria anymore, but who will suffer? 5 Likes |

kabe1: Quite right. We are searching for the truth of what happened and everybody culpable should be dealt with, but I will not let emotions cloud my judgement. Same way as the army lied they were not there initially, so the EndSars protesters lied with all the fake pictures of dead people. Nobody can take the moral high ground. 7 Likes 1 Share |

SerikinGamo: Calling me names doesn't solve anything. They were blank rounds. See You Tube video below in slow motion and the difference in muzzle flash between live and blank bullets. People were standing in front where the soldiers were but nobody was running or falling over even after several shots. Then you have clips we have seen before cobbled together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ia1VDp1320 3 Likes |

iboboyswag: Nothing new there unfortunately. Same old clips collated and edited. Same videos with soldiers firing in the air. No bodies. If soldiers were to fire into the crowd, there would be no debate with bodies everywhere and multiple injuries. CNN moved from 36 dead in October to 1 in November. Nearly 1 month on and no bodies nor mums, dads, uncles, aunties, cousins, relatives have come forward to declare anyone missing. When Lagos State Governor visited hospitals after the lekki incident, he reported 1 death from Lekki, which was from blunt force trauma. How long can the dead be hidden? Produce the evidence, that is all I am asking. I am not going to believe a report because it is CNN (done by a Nigerian by the way) when it has all been seen before. You can call me all the names you want, it won't change anything. 14 Likes 5 Shares |

Good news keeps coming. Already arrived Nigeria: Departure of two OCEA ships for Nigeria October 2020 After the delivery to the Nigerian Navy over 8 years of one OCEA FPB 98 MKI, eight OCEA FPB 72 MKII and two OCEA FPB 110 MKII, OCEA won three tenders for two additional OCEA FPB 110, one OCEA OSV 190 SC-WB and four OCEA C-FALCON Interceptors. The Nigerian Navy will soon take delivery of two new ships designed and built by OCEA shipyard: the FPB110 - P193 - NNS SOKOTO and the C-Falcon 2 - P272. The two ships were loaded on cargo in La Rochelle on 26th October 2020 and will be delivered in Lagos in November. Four additional vessels will also leave OCEA shipyard in early December for delivery to Nigeria. Thanks to the continuous Integrated Logistics Support that OCEA has put in place for the Nigerian Navy, the fleet of boats built by OCEA is and will remain in operation on a daily basis to the complete satisfaction of the customer. https://www.ocea-ssm.com/departure-two-ocea-ships-nigeria 6 Likes

For people having a breakdown because of the rescue in Nigeria, it has happened many times in other countries. "White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Fox News that the Trump administration had over the years rescued 55 hostages in 24 countries." https://www.defenceweb.co.za/security/human-security/us-special-forces-rescue-american-held-in-nigeria-officials/ Trump only announced this one because of the US elections and hunt for votes. In other words, a typical politician. 2 Likes |

You would think they are recruited from Mars. Personnel of the Armed Forces are a reflection of Nigerian society. You can't get away from it. Which ever profession you pick, you will find someone trying to screw you over. Why do you think people give Nigerians a wide berth abroad? Our reputation precedes us. 10 Likes 1 Share |
