kabe1:[quo Odunayaw:te author=JOSCOFELIX post=111955659] three day ago Russia had call some African country including Nigeria about improving it bilateral and military cooperation and assuring African country that if they is a bilateral support from African toward Moscow, that it will see more benefit for African country and today US have agree with the procurement of AH1z they refused to sell shouting human right. NATO and USA should know African would not be there boy. shine your eye Nigeria would not risk it relation with russia
I think it is probably a tactic used by the US to draw Nigeria in as they know we are looking at the Turkish and Indian attack helos. Just like they tried with Indonesia who look like going for the Rafale and the US put out a proposal for I think the F16. We will wait and see as both army aviation and NAF need new attack helos. |

Anybody got any info on the below? I am not quite sure what to make of it. "As soon as he was sworn into office, he awarded contracts to the best ship builders across the globe to deliver world class warships with very advanced war capabilities to the Nigerian Navy. Dozens of warships are billed to arrive Nigeria and join the burgeoning naval fleet. This a welcomed development and a sign of more good things to come. The Nigerian Navy is similarly in the process of acquiring Torpedoes, Destroyers and many other hard wares that will not only place it amongst the top Navies around the world but will ensure that Nigerian territorial waters are never threatened. This is good news for an administration that is less than one year in office". https://www.blueprint.ng/nigerian-navy-as-guardian-of-the-coast/ 1 Like |

kabe1: Remember the M346 model was on the former CAS, Sadique's table way back and not something that was negotiated this year. Besides, there is the extra budgetary allocation and who knows, maybe a loan from Russia. Also, I think there is a sort of fund that is going to be set up for the Armed Forces. These deals will probably be spread over a few years. For all we know, Nigeria might be one of the below countries ROSOBORONEXPORT PRESS SERVICE PRESS RELEASES ROSOBORONEXPORT SIGNS 20 CONTRACTS WORTH €2 BILLION WITH FOREIGN CUSTOMERS AT ARMY 2021 30.08.2021 Press release Rosoboronexport JSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has held more than 70 negotiations with representatives of 35 countries during the Army 2021 International Military-Technical Forum. "As a result of negotiations with foreign partners held at the Army 2021 Forum, Rosoboronexport has signed about 20 contract documents totaling over €2 billion," said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport. According to the agreements concluded with foreign customers, Rosoboronexport will export Russian defense industry products for all services of the armed forces, as well as electronic warfare and air defense equipment in the coming years. Among them are the Su-30 type aircraft, Mi-35P, Mi-171SH and Mi-17V-5 helicopters, air weapons, Pantsir-S1 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun/missile (SPAAGM) system, Kornet-EM ATGM system, remotely controlled weapon stations, weapons for surface combatants and submarines, small arms and short-range weapons, various ammunition. "The agreements reached by Rosoboronexport to supply foreign customers with the latest Pantsir-S1M SPAAGM system, Krasukha electronic warfare (EW) system and the Repellent-Patrol mobile counter-drone EW system are the first export contracts for these weapons," Alexander Mikheev added. “In addition, for the first time in the history of military-technical cooperation between Russia and foreign countries, we have agreed to integrate Russia’s Palma shipborne gun/missile CIWS into a ship’s foreign-made weapons system." Live demonstrations of weapons, military and special equipment, organized by the Russian Ministry of Defense and Rosoboronexport for the company's foreign partners, became a highlight of the forum. AIR MARSHAL AMAO WINGS 25 NEW PILOTS TO ENHANCE NAF’S COMBAT READINESS7 September, 2021 Pilot training in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) received further boost with the recent winging of 25 additional pilots comprising 20 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilots and 5 fixed and rotary wing aircraft pilots. Speaking during the winging ceremony at NAF Headquarters, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Amao specifically expressed his delight at the winging of UAV pilots as UAVs, unlike manned aircraft, offer relatively lower costs of procurement, operation, and maintenance as well as a capability to undertake high risk operations. With the recent acquisition of new platforms for the NAF, the CAS noted that the increased manpower base of both manned and unmanned pilots would be critical to NAF’s future operations. According to Air Marshal Amao, “All these efforts at pilots training are aimed at maintaining combat readiness at significantly higher levels to counter both domestic and foreign threats to the nation’s security and wellbeing of our people.” Air Marshal Oladayo Amao also disclosed that more pilots as well as personnel from other specialties were attending various trainings both at home and abroad. These efforts, according to him, are expected to place the NAF in a dominant position to deliver on its constitutional role especially in the light of its involvement in several counter insurgency and anti-banditry operations across the country. Speaking further, Air Marshal Amao noted that the NAF currently has a total of 169 officers and airmen/airwomen undergoing diverse training courses overseas cutting across several specialties and trades. Out of this number, according to the CAS, 44 are student pilots who are undergoing training in South Africa, the United States as well as in NAF training facilities in Kano and Kaduna. The CAS also revealed that a set of 21 officers will soon resume UAV training at the 401 FTS, Kaduna and are projected to complete their training by March 2022. He added that, under his watch as the CAS, the NAF has also developed a formal capacity to train UAV Pilots from Ab-Initio to tactical level of flying. Despite these achievements, the CAS noted that the NAF cannot afford to rest on its oars in training its personnel for improved operational effectiveness. “This is in view of the Federal Government’s determination in acquiring state of the art weaponry to enable the Armed Forces of Nigeria combat the numerous security challenges in the Country”, he added. Air Marshal Amao also paid glowing tribute to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari for his unwavering commitment and support to the development and enhancement of the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria. While giving the highlights of the training content, the Chief of Training and Operations (CTOP), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwani disclosed that of the 25 winged pilots, 17 had completed the UAV Course 3 while 3 completed the CH-3A UAV Operational Conversion Course locally at 401 Flying Training School (FTS), Kaduna. The 5 fixed and rotary wing pilots, on the other hand, completed the L-39 Basic and Advanced Pilot Training at the Centre of Flying Training of the Czech Air Force, Czech Republic. They also underwent training at the Basic Military Helicopter as well as Mission and Tactics Training at United States Army Aviation Flight School, Fort Rucker and Western Army Aviation Training Site, Arizona, United States. For the UAV training, AVM Gwani further stated that the Course was divided into 3 phases; the ground academics, UAV initial flying and Basic UAV training phase and entailedd each officer flying the minimum requirement of an average of 45 hours comprising 10 hours actual and 35 hours simulator flight hours at the initial flying phase. “The Basic UAV training phase involved 40 hours internal UAV pilot training on UAV mission planning and execution, emergency procedures, position reporting as well as external and internal pilot coordination amongst others”, he said. The L-39 Basic and Advanced Pilot Training was however conducted in 2 phases: Basic Flying Training and Advanced Flying phase. According to AVM Gwani, the officers flew an average of 60 hours on the L-39 aircraft in the Basic Flying training phase before proceeding to the Advanced flying training phase. He further stated that the Advanced flying training phase consisted of 80 instructional flight hours covering medium and low-level formation flying, Strike training comprising single and two ship as well as introduction to basic fighter manoeuvre offensive and defensive. In all, according to the CTOP, the officers had an average of 140 hours of actual flying. I am glad to state that the average pass mark of the entire course was 80 percent.” he concluded. Recall that barely 2 months ago, precisely on16 July 2021, the CAS winged 6 young NAF helicopter pilots, who had completed their basic flying training at Draken Helicopter Academy, United Kingdom. These trainings are part of efforts to enhance the operational readiness of the NAF as noted by the CAS when he stated that, “The most critical airpower capability that must be enhanced and sustained for effective and efficient performance is the human being that operates the air platforms" 7 Likes 1 Share

kabe1: What makes you think I am talking about NNS Lana (It will be armed by the Navy as it also carries out a security role) or making a complaint? I am talking about the FPB 72 & 110 boats which arrived without canons and were subsequently installed by the Navy. Other navies like the Algerian Navy had theirs delivered with RWSs. The navy usually install one of the Singapore Technology Kinetics cannons. BTW, you don't have to go on the offensive even if you disagree. 2 Likes

Some more details relating to the Super Tucano deal: The United States has $590 million in active government-to-government sales cases with Nigeria under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) system. FMS cases notified to Congress are listed here . Recent and significant sales include up to 12 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft worth $497 million to support Nigerian military operations against Boko Haram and ISIS West Africa and counter illicit trafficking in Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea. The case includes special training on the Law of Armed Conflict and International Humanitarian Law. Nigeria also has active air-to-ground integration to mitigate the possibility of civilian harm. The persistent light attack and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities Nigeria will develop upon completion of this sale and associated programming involve more than just airplanes – Nigeria will have the trained personnel and sustainment infrastructure to ensure a robust capability for the aircrafts’ full service lifetime. In FY 2019, the United States also authorized the permanent export of over $127,525 in defense articles to Nigeria via the Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) process. The top categories of DCS to Nigeria were Fire Control, Laser, Imaging, and Guidance Equipment; Aircraft and Related Articles; and Military Electronics. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.state.gov/u-s-security-cooperation-with-nigeria/&ved=2ahUKEwjzltjj-qPyAhUpRhUIHX_KCRoQFnoECDEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0AAk10ZVNGIhI3p3HZwgmR&cshid=1628513680836 2 Likes 1 Share |

komekn: Sahara Reporters was not responsible for exposing the error the NAF made, it was Tomasz - https://mobile.twitter.com/TomaszRolbiecki SR just tried to grab the glory as they constantly look for negative stories to publish and avoid positive news like the plague. it was merely an error and some wrong photos were used,, not that the decimation of BH technicals and men didn't happen. The right pictures have now been posted, same result. SR has continued a campaign to discredit the Government by only publishing bad news and not even correcting their reports when they have been exposed on numerous occasions just because their man, Sowore, didn't win in 2019 (as if). He called for a revolution, which is treasonable, and amongst the people who tried to hijack the EndSars protest for his selfish reasons. He was arrested and again and again kept breaching his bail conditions while his paper continued their agenda. Honesty and Truth are very far from SR. I see you are saying Lekki Gate Crisis and not Lekki Massacre, which didn't happen. The only thing that the army denied was being there and nothing else. 5 Likes |

komekn: The centre of the insurgency is not Chad, but Nigeria. If BH/ISWAP were domiciled in a region of Chad, they will have long been in trouble without the help/support of France. It is far easier to deploy to a foreign country or the odd operation, even with limited air power, and then have the luxury of retreating without the daily grind of being attacked by BH/ISWAP. Mind you, even Chad is equipped with SU-25, Mi-35s & armed Mi-17 helos, which they use. France has saved them on a couple of occasions, if i'm not mistaken, when rebels invaded from the north and were repelled by French Mirage 2000s (example of air power in use). When Bagram air base was attacked on several occasions in Afghanistan, what was the first thing the allies requested? Airpower. Even when out on patrol, the teams were not far away from air support when called upon. There were occasions the British didn't get the support in good time with predictable outcomes. See below extract: "The lack of one or two pairs of eyes above the patrols meant the enemy could deploy undetected, could manoeuvre unseen, could retreat safely to kill again another day. The absence of an aircraft the troops would have had seventy years ago has meant that there has been no radio relay facility in difficult situations when, as so often, the Bowman radios failed to work, and no safe reconnaissance vehicle was available for the battalion commanders' liaison visits. Let us look at just two examples, the first being the morning Lieutenant Mark Evison led a platoon of twenty men on a reconnaissance patrol to investigate some compounds the Taliban had used as firing points. The enemy responded within thirty minutes, but with no SMA overhead the patrol was confused about the sources of the crossfire. When one source was identified and mortar support needed, radio failure prevented the request being made. An SMA would have acted alone with small bombs or machine gun, or would have called the fire support team directly. Tragic: Lieutenant Mark Evison's life-support machine was switched off after he suffered acute injuries as a consequence of coming under Taliban fire When Evison's radio failed too, he exposed himself while trying to communicate with one of his section leaders by hand signals and voice, and he was hit. When the Taliban fire then became more intense, his men realised that they were caught in a 360 degree ambush mounted by fifty to sixty insurgents and, outnumbered three-to-one, that they had a serious problem. A couple of SMAs above them would have changed this picture radically." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2158676/Lack-sufficient-aircraft-jeapardised-Britains-military-capability-led-avoidable-sacrifice-Helmand.html Whilst not minimising properly trained personnel in COIN/CT (which the COAS has been concentrating on building up the last few years), airpower can be pivotal and be the deciding factor and provide the overwhelming advantage in crushing the enemy. You are not looking at being on par with an enemy that doesn't value life and would quite happily sarcrifice itself, but you want the ability to exterminate them with overwhelming firepower. 14 Likes 1 Share |

If anyone has ever followed/read about COIN/CT operations worldwide, you will acknowledge that nobody fights such wars without air support because insurgents overwhelm you with numbers etc. You will never find American or UK troops deploying without air support because they know they will be overwhelmed. It is the first thing they call for when they hear the sound of a bullet. Now the Nigerian military has finally bitten the bullet and understands that and now that the required platforms are arriving, it is goodnight Vienna for BH. 15 Likes 1 Share |
