Okay let me balance y’all real quick I work at this facility. There is no active mortuary there. In fact the whole hospital compound has been shut down since last year for renovations. We are working out of other military installations with no mortuary services.

thansks
but is the $184.3mls just for 3 birds

It appears to be just for the 3 and associated ammo, logistics, pilot/technician training etc. I would guess that any further orders, whether yet carried out or not, would be for the blk 3. My opinion only.

All you misguided people who like to compare 3rd world countries with developed countries, how many of you pay taxes? You want the comfort of a first world country but contribute nought.

What have all the past administrations been doing all these years, yet you want a miracle in just a few years? It takes decades of hard work and sacrifices to untangle the wrongs and move forward.

Continue bitching. All you're good at.

No, this is a program wide issue for the F35A. Its due to the leakage of inert gases that greatly increase the possibility of spontaneous combustion if the airplane flies in or around complex weather systems like thunderstorms. Meaning the airplane can explode if its hit with lightning. Word. Lockheed Martin has advised operators of the plane to fly at least 25 miles away from thunderstorms.... I find myself shaking my head vigorously while I type this because it seems so unbelievable, but I reiterate, this is all fact. This has been a reoccurring for the f35a issue since 2010

Yeah! Granted it is the F-35A with the additional fuel tanks along the spine (F-35Bs have the vertical lift engine intake at that location), but it is like various issues found with new production aircraft and technologies, it will eventually be overcome as it is being investigated.

ikr, abi oh, its just that for the price of the F35 (90 - 120 million dollars), to find out that it cannot fly when there's a thunderstorm just sounds absolutely unbelievable. That's like buying a huge generator only to find out it cant work when the sun shines too bright..
Again, one simply cannot make this up. The so called Russians are looking at them with side eye, so much for a so called 5th gen jet. In the opinion of almost every professional fighter jet aficionado, this f35 is a boondoggle.
Yes the JF17 will have issues but inability to fly when it rains heavy is definitely not one of them.
I get your point tho; for sure with the local capacity been built, repairs and overhaul of the jf17 should be a walk in the park.

Your story about the F-35A not flying was to do with a particular fault to their aircraft. Other F-35s have been flying as the F-35B clip from the QE aircraft carrier below shows.

Just imagine when an outsider gets to read that thread in fp and the comments..tell me why some useless dundehead wont rate us 3rd globally terrorised country in the world..

Most Nigerians are fools and ignorant bastards that maybe poverty and hardship has cause them a post stress traumatic disorder in such a sense that they only see and talk bad about the country irrespective of whatever the case might be..

Such a shame if you ask me..

The problem is, they are so unpatriotic and toxic in what they say and then turn around and wonder why Nigeria is cussed by other Africans. They think if they gain what they are clamouring for, everything will be forgotten. They don't know they are "doing themselves" and future generations. The internet doesn't forget.

Good new on the Super Tucano...

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFLCMC) – Construction of new facilities to support an A-29 Super Tucano wing at an air base in Nigeria, has started, after the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate’s Foreign Military Sales Construction Division awarded a $36.1 million contract to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District.

The facilities will support 12 Nigerian Air Force A-29 aircraft, and include the construction of new airfield hot cargo pad, perimeter and security fencing, munitions assembly and storage, small arms storage, a flight annex wing building for simulator training, airfield lighting, and various airfield apron, parking, hangar, and entry control point improvements.

“With this recent contract award, we are ready to be part of the modernization of Nigerian Air Force facilities and infrastructure,” said Brig. Gen. Brian Bruckbauer, director of the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate. “As a member of the Nigeria A-29 FMS Program, and this being AFSAC’s first major construction project in sub-Saharan Africa, we are thrilled to be able to support the Nigerian people in advancing their defensive capabilities. We look forward to building and strengthening this strategic partnership with the Nigerian people.”

Peru AF is replacing the EMB 312 Tucano aquired 1986 with the KT-1. We are going to get the EMB 314 Super Tucano, they will rise and shine. Coming to cost, please consider that we get a full package including guides bombs, training, spares and ground installation and not just a air-frame in flyaway condition.

Note: OV10 fleet is out of production for decades now, dead and scraped in most part of the world. There would be no spare parts available, how would you maintain it?

Even Ukraine is planning to replace it's L-39s with the Super Tucano.

This is captain Blade's(Rtd) position on a discussion programme, presently airing on @classic FM Lagos. He is insistent that the present approach isn't result oriented.

Tune in if you can

The problem is there are not enough tactical transport helicopters to sustain such operations considering the size of the NE. These operations are usually intelligence led and fighter jets or helos scrambled to take out the targets. You will need dedicated air assault troops in several basis on QRF. Then there is the danger of minefields and booby traps you can walk into or land on (British Paratropers once landed in the middle of a minefield during an operation in Afghanistan. Not a good outcome).

This is possible for some operations especially when the enemy is moving quickly and not had the time to set up defences. Also, once known this is what happens after the military attacks, ambushes will be set up by BH/ISIS aided by fifth columnists.

It's not about toju, its the way the person that claimed Nigeria has Hj 12 , started shouting it's for Nigeria, even when the article merely said an African country and to a lesser extent, the way people started believed him, even when the news article didnt mention Nigeria. Sounds like pastors , gullible congregations claim it mindset to me.

The same mindset comes to play again with aradu.... that aradu is undergoing sea trials, aradu was clearly towed by tug boats,no proof to show she's under her own power, because the pastor says it's TRUE, the flock too started commenting aradu out of dock for sea trials, weapons removed even when missile magazine and weapons are visible , and to them it's the biblical truth......this our pastor and followers mentality, with the lack of ability to verify information won't kill us

It did say at the time it was Nigeria.

Egypt flies F-7s, if we actually want to train pilots on an advanced platform, only 4 pilots seems like a waste of money. I believe the 4 pilots going to Egypt are F-7 pilots.

You may well have a point, although one would have thought Pakistan would be a more logical choice with the current collaboration. Anyway, mek I no derail the thread. Good work.

My source was right after all. Additional surveillance assets are more than welcome. Although, my initial sentiment was we were going to go for the CH-4s instead.

Long endurance flights by the UAVs, target identification followed by bombings by JF-17s make sense to me.

It's all beginning to come together, hopefully. But as you know, with naija, who knows where the path will lead.

I am also a bit curious about the 4 pilots going to Egypt. Is it to train on a more advanced platform?

FLASH

According to unconfirmed reports, the Nigeran Air Force would soon take delivery of Yahbon Flash-20 UAV. The source claims a deal has already been negotiated.

Let's keep and eye on this space.

There may well be substance to the rumour:

To man these platforms, we have sent over 500 personnel to different parts of the world for training. Thirty five pilots are currently undergoing ab-initio and basic training, 10 each of these pilots are undergoing training in South Africa and Britain while 15 will commence training in International flying School, Illorin.

“Four other pilots will soon depart for Egypt to train with Egyptian Air Force and to support our BDC of securing the bases, we have trained about 200 Regiment personnel in Nigeria and another batch of 30 are in China and 15 in Pakistani.

Watch the video on Channels Tv carefully, after they showed the green Diamond Trainer Aircraft, which one of NAF spokeman said 'will soon be put out of service', they showed a small white Aircraft flying and later taxying on the runway.

PRIMARY FLYING TRAINING: SUPER MUSHSHAK TO REPLACE DA-40 AIRCRAFT
The Nigerian Air force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saheen Foundation, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to acquire a squadron of MFI Super Mushshak aircraft that would replace the Diamond-40 aircraft currently being used for primary flying training at the 301 Flying Training School (301 FTS), Kaduna. The decision to acquire the Super Mushshak was informed by the unsuitability of the Diamond aircraft for aerobatics which is a critical aspect of military pilot training. The MoU is one of the fallouts of an earlier visit to Pakistan by the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to undertake firsthand assessment of possible technology and platform that can be acquired to enhance the current operational status of the NAF. The CAS, while re-emphasising the importance of primary flying in the NAF, pointed out that it is important for every student pilot to be exposed to aerobatics, especially at the primary flying training stage, regardless of their flying career projections. This, he said, would broaden their skills and enhance their flying proficiency on the subsequent platforms. Air Mshl Abubakar noted that the DA-40 aircraft, currently employed for primary flying training in the NAF, is not designed for aerobatics hence the demand for a trainer aircraft that is more suitable for such role. Besides, the CAS stated that the number of the DA-40 aircraft available is not sufficient to train the 90 student pilots scheduled to undergo initial pilot training for year 2016 at the 301 FTS, Kaduna. Built by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, the Super Mushshak is an upgraded version of the MFI-17 Mushshak with an advanced 260hp engine, electrical instruments, dual flight control systems and a bendix fuel injection system. Unlike the DA-4O, the Super Mushshak meets the modern requirements in primary and instrument flying with the US FAR 23.

The DA-40 aircraft, currently employed for primary flying training in the NAF, is not designed for aerobatics hence the demand for a trainer aircraft that is more suitable for such role.

That's not a Super Mushak, that's a Diamond Trainer Aircraft. The Air Force has been deploying the Diamond as a primary trainer for pilots for the past 12 months, seeing the Air Beetles would soon be withdrawn from service.

I realised that afterwards, but no denying the reporter said the NAF now had a new aircraft - the Super M.
