Travel / Re: Nigerians Frustrated At The Nigerian Embassy In Canada by Roforofo(m): 6:45am On Aug 24, 2013
So sad but good that the internet is exposing the abject failure and unseriousness of most of our embassies. There is a video on youtube of Nigerians attacking the Nigerian embassy in Senegal after being frustrated by the embassy staff. I NEVER fly with my Nigerian passport unless I am going to Nigeria. Not worth the hassle.

Nigeria unfortunately is a joke of a country run by thieves. Just arrived in Paris this evening on Eurostar and journey time 2hrs 15 mins. Our government sadly does not care if we live or die which is why everything is decaying in Nigeria. Just a year agony retired uncle minding his business jeje in his car was shot dead by stray bullet in Isheri by armed robbers snatching cars. Police asked us for 500,000 K to investigate!!!! What a sick screwed up system.

- Femi Kuti ( Shotan 2004 )

I love the Kuti family. Through their songs they continue to document our tragic decline despite the lies the politicians try to feed us. They say we are developing and anyone that criticises them is unpatriotic and disgruntled yet all their children school abroad in Europe and America and pere if anything do dem health they all start running to Europe for treatment. Nigerians we need to wake up like the Arab world and start voting for honest men and women instead of foolish tribal voting.

Anyone fit marry whoever they want. I am Nigerian and my wife is Swedish. We both don't care what anyone thinks. To be honest both parents were initially against the marriage but when we married and decided to not have any contact with both sides of our families for 3 years (no phone calls, no emails, no nothing) they realised we were deadly serious say we no send dem. In the end na dem make contact and everybody dey kampe. Same with friends. Anyone we get problem with our relationship I no wan know. Life is too short to be bothering about other peoples lives. I have many friends married to Nigerians and many married to White women. Some are together some are divorced. Bottom line no be skin colour go determine successful and happy marriage. It is about love, compatability, respect, understanding and good luck.
Wish people well and like Femi Kuti talk. MYOB. Mind Your Own Business.

Let them keep stealing our money and instead of building hospitals and training nurses, doctors ambulance crew let them keep flying to America ( Maryam Babangida ), England ( Ojokwu ) Abdulkadir Dantata ( Germany ) Yar'Adua ( Comatose in Saudi Arabia. Died in Nigeria) Governor Chime ( India ).
When will these BUFFOONS learn? Repair your country, stop stealing and improve your people's lives. Invest in EDUCATION, TRAINING AND JOBS not PRIVATE JETS AND PRESIDENTIAL VILLAS!!!!
Americans, Indians, Saudis and Germans doctors and nurses cannot respect you more than your own doctors and nurses. No amount of stolen billions of dollars and pounds will save you from cancer/stroke or aeroplane crash.

Every DAMN day! I love our honest hardworking people but hate what has become of our country. Lack of basic healthcare, sanitation, roads, light, education, jobs, security, stupid and mindless religiosity.........the list goes on. I am Nigerian by by birth but only use my passport to travel to Nigeria. For every other country I use my EU passport. We have such a terrible reputation that I cannot be bothered with the hassle of the stigma attached to us. Life is too short and my so called country Nigeria no kukuma send me!

Loss of culture. Loss of childhood friends as in real ijinle friends.
However personally I don't care. Nigeria gave me nothing and our society celebrates corruption, tribalism, poor healthcare for our people, fake religiosity etc......Given all the rubbish in Nigeria I am happy to pay the price of losing my so called culture. Just two weeks ago my uncle was shot dead in Lagos during an armed robbery and the Police have said we should pay them 500,000 K before they investigate!!!! Culture ko, culture ni!!

While our useless thieving Football Federation and Ministry of Sports has not announced anything officially on the death of a patriotic Nigerian who served his country his former club have his death has headline news on their website, are flying their club flag at half mast in his honour and will have a minute of silence in respect for the late Rashidi Yekini.
http://www.vfc.pt/noticias/clube/05_05_12_adeusyekini Just shows you how useless our officials are in Nigeria. No wonder the government does not care about raising fuel prices. Nigeria, a country where the leaders and officials do not give a DAMN about their own people!!!!

This is the BBC link. Imagine the whole world knows over 150 people killed in Kano yet useless Jonathan and the Presidency in Abuja claim only 7 people die. This country is being run by useless retards. Nigeria is going down the drain.

So called "President" Goodluck Jonathan is a dunce and clueless coward. Even the BBC reporter on his entourage said he was puzzled that after such a devastating attack Goodluck was boasting that Boko-Haram is "disorganized" and security forces will "easily" catch them. God punish Obasanjo for foistering this stupid slowpoke to lead a nation of 120 million!!!
Travel / Re: Accra, Lagos Or Dakar by Roforofo(m): 8:01pm On Jan 22, 2012
Sir Kay. Thank you so much for all your advice. Are there are any specific Ghanian/Nigerian restaurants in Accra you will recommend?
Travel / Re: Accra, Lagos Or Dakar by Roforofo(m): 7:21pm On Jan 22, 2012
Thank you to everyone who replied. I have decided based on the overwhelming responses on Accra to choose Accra. I am really grateful for your replies. Please can Sir Kay, Jesoul and any Accra experts please advise me on hotels. I have looked at Movenpick, Labadi, Fiesta Royale and Midindi Hotel. I am not sure if these are walking distance into Osu. The reason I want to be near Osu is so my wife and kids can have West African food daily. They are really looking forward to the food oooo and so am I. My main requirements for the hotel are safe, swimming pool for the kids, nightlife e.g a hotel highlife band to entertain guests at night (hopefully with the kids asleep in their prams) and if possible proximity to the beach. One close to Osu will be preferred. My maximum budget per night for the room will be £200/night. Thanks again for all your help.

Ok fellow Nairalanders, I need advice. I want to take my 2 kids to West Africa to expose them positively to our culture as my wife is non-Nigerian. I just wanted to know which of these capitals you will recommend for relaxation, culture and sight seeing and of course safety. We are a family of four wishing to spend two weeks on this trip and our budget is £5000. Thanks. I am Nigerian but have no bias as to where I go. I just want my kids to see Black Africans living and doing positive things in our Homeland without any stereotypes.

We can keep deceiving ourselves for the next 100 years. This country will not progress until we return to true Federalism. We are not one country and should stop fooling ourselves. Dat Sovereign National Conference wey we dey run from na im go ultimately save us. Boko Haram is a symptom of the underlying disease we refuse to treat.

Pukkah:

Has Mr Jonathan released any statement on this sad incident?

Of couse NOT. Jonathan is a coward and a liar. He only has power to order soldiers to kill and maim southerners. All these blasts in the North and Abuja and he does nothing except ask Nigerians to pray but if na to deploy soldiers to Calabar, Lagos, Owerri or Warri he will not hesitate. The guy is a coward and a buffon.

Now let's see if our useless President Goodluck will do anything as na Northerners dey involved. If na to dey flex muscle and tear gas innocent protesters for Lagos, Onitsha or Benin im go dey flex but once it is the North the coward go begin stammer and talk about praying for unity. This country is led by useless people.

Truth is bitter as they say. ThiefofHearts is dishing out home truths to Nigerians. We are the most pretentious group of people in this world and we hate the truth in Nigeria which is why despite all the fake prayers we keep saying in our millions of fake churches and mosques up and down the country we still never get ourselves and we are looked upon across the world as subhuman. Sadly the problem is that we worship money in Nigeria and have no principles which is why men like Gani or Fela were not listened to by the masses because the masses themselves are only interested in money. The leaders don't care about the country, the followers also don't care about the country, which explains why Nigerians abroad are always desperate to get foreign passports because deep down we know our country is useless. Even the leaders know which is why all their kids are sent abroad for schooling and whenever governor, commissioner, minister or presido falls sick dem they run go Germany or Saudi for treatment as dem know say their country dey useless. Abeg ThiefofHearts, carry go. grin
Foreign Affairs / Re: Breaking News: Gbagbo Arrested. by Roforofo(m): 11:13pm On Apr 11, 2011
Some Africans are generally stupid and like deceiving themselves. In Nigeria a man like Babangida should be lynched in the streets yet people hail him as a big man. Same goes for Ernest Shonekan, Jeremiah Useni, TY Danjuma, many many ex governors and military men. Instead of facing the evil within foolish Africans blame the White man for all their problems. It is why almost every African nation run by Africans is useless, Sudan, Nigeria, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger, Ivory Coast, etc. Yet the same Africans all desperate to escape and live in the West and they all want to get European and American passports. Nonsense people.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Ivory Coast’s Gbagbo Surrenders by Roforofo(m): 7:22am On Apr 06, 2011
It is sad that this buffoon Gbagbo ran to hide in the French Ambassador's residence when he realized he was about to be defeated and killed, the same way Babangida took his wife to America for treatment when she was dying, the same way Gaddaffi has billions stashed away in Europe and million pound mansions in England. Africans just like deceiving themselves, our leaders all claim th e West is plotting against them but they always keep their loot, build their mansions, send their kids to school and seek medical treatment in this same West. No wonder anyone with half a brain does not believe them and leaves that cursed continent behind. I love my family and friends but me and my children will never ever live in Nigeria and I have advised them to accept Europe as their new homeland, they can visit Nigeria but as long as it continues to be ruled by thieves and thugs they should never go back. I certainly will not.

Wow. Great thread. It is amazing that there is a burning desire to go home deep within many of us who live abroad. I love Nigeria and despite 14 years abroad I only feel truly at home eating suya and nursing my stout with friends at abe igi in Ogba!!! grin I can't live in Nigeria though as I am not prepared to beg anyone for contracts etc. I am pretty wealthy now and grateful to Europe for the post grad education and excellent work opportunities I received which have allowed me to be who I am today and given me a passport that allows me to travel the world without being treated like a thief but I have never forgotten my country and I have set up a scholarship for poor kids from my hometown. I guess for those of us who can't return permanently things like charity/volunteering may be one way of staying connected to our people and culture.
Business / Re: 2% On 18million With Gtbank by Roforofo(m): 8:28am On Oct 12, 2010
Yankeeboi. I am in the same boat as you. Currently getting 2% on 12 million Naira fixed deposit. Not happy but still better than keeping the money in a UK bank. I know other banks may offer higher rates but I trust GTB and can monitor and opearate my accounts online from the UK so I don't mind. I only go back home to Lagos every 3 years and don't have the time to monitor any business or investment in Naija. Too much fraud and long story dey happen with business in Niaja if you yourself no dey physically on ground. At least with GTB I know my capital dey 100% kampe as they have never disappointed me or failed to pay the agreed interest. Anyway the main reason I set up the fixed deposit na to use the interest dey help pay school fees for my relations and help out family members in Naija so I go just maintain with GTB.

Travel / Re: When Did Peckham (In London) Get Annexed By Nigeria? by Roforofo(m): 12:53am On Sep 11, 2010
Peckham is a dump. Most Naijas and other immigrants who live there have no choice. It is one of the cheapest parts of London to live in for those who are low paid and need to commute to work. Like most ghettos in the world once you make enough money to get the hell out, you leave. There is squalor there because the people are poor. Poor people wether white or black generally live in dirtier conditions than the rich or middle class, same as comparing Ikoyi, Opebi, GRA to Ajegunle, Shangisha or Okokomaiko.

The truth about everything is that corruption is working right from time the executive of NFA where given the job.

People who love football with great passion were not given opportunity to run the business.
Such people will not allow corrupt people to spoil the boys.
Such people will not let people select players or decide for the coach.
Such people will be consistent and plan ahead before the next world cup.
These people must be ready to die for Nigeria and the new boys to be selected.

Do Nigerians love Nigeria

Are Nigerians ready to die for Nigeria?   No.

Do Nigerians love Nigeria? Not really We love Nigeria in a nostalgic sense when discussing our "homeland" especially those abroad and of course we love our family and friends but corruption has turned Nigeria and Nigerians into  an "every man for himself" nation.

The bitter truth is that our leaders don't care about us, we also don't care about them or the country. Reason why any Nigerian with half a brain will dump their Nigerian passport and burn it if offered a chance to have an European or US passport. I am sure if a cruise ship arrived in Lagos offering people a chance to leave Nigeria to work as SLAVES in America today that ship will sink in Apapa Wharf due to overload. That is how desperate people are to get out of the country.  Like many of us our footballers are no different and they also do not send the country as they are rich, have or are aiming for foreign passports and they know that if they stop playing football nobody for Naija go send them. Second bass jare! grin

Our national team is like everything about Nigeria and Nigerians. We are always are our own worst enemies. It was not only Yaka that messed up, twice the selfish Obasi failed to pass to his team mates who were unmarked in front of goal and went for glory himself. Well their holiday in South Africa is over and they can all return to warming the bench for their clubs as most of them do while Lagerback our oyinbo master will collect his easy money and return to Europe laughing at our foolish NFA that appointed him! grin

Ife007:

@Rofo
Lets say Savings A/c (Online Banking in both GTB & Zenith) without any debit or credit cards attached to it.

Hi Ife007. Your plan is the safest and it is what I have now done. Open an account with GTB, operate it online and tell GTB you do not want any bank cards (credit or debit). Tell you family members to also open GTB accounts so you can instantly transfer money to them from abroad. Make your transfers online from your GTB account to your family members. When in Nigeria withdraw any cash you need personally over the counter. Job done. Nothing for the stupid magas we dey try defraud us. Best wishes. Roforofo.
Business / Re: Let's Expose Scammers Here - Read before you transact! by Roforofo(m): 2:18am On Jun 16, 2010
As others have said, please be careful and avoid doing business with people who you donot know and who simply send you their emails or phone numbers. I have always advised that Nigerians abroad should only transact with family members or friends they trust, remember even family can scam you so shine your eye. Otherwise deal with reputable and legitimate businesses in Nigeria. I was abused and insulted by some last year for simply fixing 10 million Naira with GTB instead of investing in ebiz, e-books, property and bitumen!! I was promised if I invested in these schemes I would double my money quickly. Fortunately I do not believe in quick money and I just wanted a safe haven in Nigeria for some funds to help others. GTB has not doubled my money, but my capital is 100% safe, I earn reasonable interest and I can operate the account easily from the UK and transfer money in Nigeria from my garden in London. So please do not be fooled by scammers and make the magas know say we for Nairaland no be mumus.
