Beachside: There is no ''should'' or ''shouldn't'' in this world, you hear? Guatemala, Uganda, Afghanistan, even Somalia - don't they have more resources than say Switzerland, or Sweden, or Norway? Of course they do. So why are they so far behind the latter in development? Fact is You are not the Creator of this world, so it is not for you to say what ''should'' or ''shouldn't'' be. If Nigeria is not developed, then PLAY YOUR PART to help her develop. What is wrong with you? If God wanted to place you in a developed nation, He would have created you to be a Swiss or Swede, or Italian, or whatever. God placed you HERE so that YOU could contribute your quota to building this place up. Do you think all those developed countries were always advanced? Do you know that just a century and half ago, people slept 20 to a room in London, Liverpool, Manchester, and died of cold and preventable diseases on the streets? Do you know that as recently as the early 20th century, households in England used to share toilets? Ten houses in a row would share ONE toilet. Those who were too pressed would shiit on the streets. If you want me to provide evidence of life in Victorian England I'll do so right away. Throughout all this suffering the English people never hated themselves or called their nation a ''shithole'' and all that self-hating trash. Plus all this suffering went on while their elite lived in huge palaces. There is nothing we're seeing in Nigeria that other regions on earth have not experienced. Get off this nonsensical negativity and add your bit, and leave the rest for the next generation, just like those in the UK and elsewhere did. That's all that's required of you. Not this stupid negativity and finger pointing everyday. Rubbish. |

Stupid moro.ns with inferiority complex. Ever since the uneducated, ignorant racist asswipe and criminal that calls himself the US president used ''shiithole'' to describe African nations, his brain-dead slaves have taken on the word, as if they ever used it in their lives prior to hearing a racist use it. Kuku go and serve Trump and his KKK, neo-nazi, white-supremacist friends tea and coffee, and smile like the stupid inferior black they want you to be, since that is what makes you feel comfortable. Rubbish. |

Beachside: I was taking you serious until you came up with this ''Nigeria is the biggest shiithole'' RUBBISH. You know, someone needs to dump some of you pampered idiots into places like Honduras, Peru, Somalia, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Eritrea, Pakistan, Cambodia, Guatemala, Uganda, Niger Republic, Chad, or Afghanistan, so you can actually discover through your thick skulls what a real ''shiithole'' really is. Because of your stupid colonial mentality, you think everywhere outside Nigeria is like the UK, Switzerland, Germany, and Dubai, forgetting that developed nations constitute only about 20% of nations on earth, majority of them having been independent for several centuries, with the rest being developing nations like Nigeria still struggling with the so-called 'basics' like power supply and roads. Until you get it though your thick skulls that there is nothing wrong with, and nothing to be ashamed of, with being a developing nation, that it is actually the NORM on earth rather than the exception, you will continue to be disgruntled elements, hating yourselves and your background till you reach your graves, and wasting your lives in disgruntlement. Rubbish. |

Wow. That is a far better option than keke. It actually looks like a proper vehicle. Why are you people complaining? You prefer to live like animals, riding in those wretched keke things? In fact we need entrepreneurs to come together and build stuff like this to replace those primitive tricycles. Well done, Mr Governor. 26 Likes 1 Share |

theDEVILisHERE: Do not come in here using racist terminology. You clearly lack proper home training, or you'd conduct yourself with decorum. Tell me. Is it by force that we must all accept your views? You've made your point. Now go away. All you're doing is displaying your intolerance for opposing viewpoints. Is that how your new republic will function? Everybody must think like you or you won't let them be? I can name a few countries where such is the norm - North Korea, Afghanistan, Uganda under Amin, Hitler's Germany etc, etc. |

fernandez1: Mr Naysayer, are the investors in Lagos' skyscrapers and Abuja high rises departing those buildings because of ''depleted electricity''? Who told you office occupiers of skyscrapers pay for diesel? Have you actually been inside a skyscraper? Go and try and rent office space in Marina or Broad Street and see if you can find space to rent, since everyone is running away from ''paying for diesel''. |
Politics / Re: Every State Governor Must Do THIS. ...It Will Help Transform Nigeria by Rossippi: 12:46am On Feb 20, 2020 |
fernandez1: Then you don't understand the role of infrastructural development in creating wealth and changing lives. Do you realise how many jobs would be created by carrying out this program as outlined? To maintain and service one skyscraper, you would need within its proximity a minimum of: Lift engineering companies Electrical Firms Air conditioning firms Furniture firms and suppliers Security firms Plumbing firms Transport firms Catering firms Civil engineering firms for structural maintenance And many of those firms will also require ancillary firms to supply them. This is just for one building. Multiply that to say, 20 skyscrapers per city. Then multiply that by 36 states. In other words, job opportunities will be opened for countless millions of Nigerians. |

theDEVILisHERE: Nigeria will NOT be disbanded. Nigeria is a democracy, and majority of Nigerians want the nation to remain ONE. End of story. You CANNOT force your views on Nigerians, no matter how strongly held. Therefore, your secessionist dream will remain what it is - a dream. My advice to you is that instead of living your life as a dream, you should get back in touch with reality, and contribute your quota to making Nigeria a better place, rather than, inter alia, inventing the existence of ''4 terror groups'' in your head. Your only alternative is to seek citizenship of another country, and depart from our shores. At least that way, you can stop living your life as a dream. Regards. |

You ''fight terrorism'' by being fair and righteous to other people, and by the govt providing education and opportunities to the poor and dispossessed, not by ''getting good trainings'' from Israel, on how to suppress those whom you are oppressing and stealing from. |

Every state governor must be obliged to build at least TWO skyscrapers in his capital during his tenure. It doesn't need to be 100 storey skyscrapers. 20 to 40 storeys will still look superb. Build them, and then rent out office space to businesses, to recoup costs and even make profit. They must do it in the city centre, and create a CBD (Central Business District), to create a concentration of high rises, and a SKYLINE. This attracts investors and tourists like nothing else you can imagine. PLUS they must get rid of open gutters, and build pedestrian sidewalks on every street. If that happens, come to Nigeria in 10 years time and you'll think you're in the USA. That's what they should focus on, rather than all these funny lights and roundabouts they build. We cannot leave everything to the Federal Govt. The state governors must play their part in realising the Nigeria of our dreams. Discuss. Phoenix, Arizona, a small US city made to look like New York simply by creating a CBD with a few high rises. Every Nigerian state capital should have a CBD like this. |

explosiveskull: Excellent suggestion. A lot of these cities in Nigeria need city centres, ie central business districts (CBDs) with highrises/skyscrapers, to create that business environment that attracts investors and tourists. How I wish that every state governor will be obliged to build at least ONE skyscraper in his capital during his tenure. It doesn't even need to be 100 storeys. 20 to 40 storeys will still look superb. PLUS get rid of open gutters and build pedestrian sidewalks on every street. wirinet: That is an incredible, tragic story, and I believe every word of it. I also recall a conversation with a distant uncle of mine over the Biafra issue. He was for Biafra and I was for One Nigeria, in a heated, though friendly debate over beer. Midway through our debate, he made a casual remark that startled me, to the effect that ''God save you if you go to Onitsha and say these things you're saying''. I just replied him straight that ''all the more reason why Biafra is a bad idea, since there is no room for plurality of opinion in your little tribal republic''. At least as a Nigerian, you can think what you like, say what you like, insult the president and leaders all you like, and nobody will disturb you. 2 Likes |

Area4Area: Thanks bro. I just don't get the audacity some people have to come online and claim to know where a person must come from based on his political views. Because they base their own views strictly on their ethnic loyalties rather than on common sense, logic, and reasoning, they think everybody is like them. It's just so ignorant and primitive. If you do not believe in Biafra or secession, then you must not be an Igbo person. Which poll did these illiterates conduct showing that every Igbo person supports secession? Can you imagine their effrontery? Fascists pretending to be freedom fighters. Can you imagine any of these ones in power in a 'Biafra'? Won't they just kill anybody who doesn't meet their definition of who a Biafran or Igbo person is? May their type NEVER EVER achieve any form of power in Igboland. Amen. 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: CNN Blasts Trump For Banning Nigerians, Lists Their Achievements In The USA by Rossippi: 1:10am On Feb 19, 2020 |
double0seven: Certainly. 1973: The US Department of Justice under the Nixon administration sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to black tenants and lied to black applicants about whether apartments were available, among other accusations. Trump said the federal government was trying to get him to rent to welfare recipients. In the aftermath, he signed an agreement in 1975 agreeing not to discriminate to renters of color without admitting to discriminating before. 1980s: Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump’s Castle, accused another one of Trump’s businesses of discrimination. “When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” Brown said. “It was the eighties, I was a teenager, but I remember it: They put us all in the back.” 1988: In a commencement speech at Lehigh University, Trump spent much of his speech accusing countries like Japan of “stripping the United States of economic dignity.” This matches much of his current rhetoric on China. 1989: In a controversial case that’s been characterized as a modern-day lynching, four black teenagers and one Latino teenager — the “Central Park Five” — were accused of attacking and raping a jogger in New York City. Trump immediately took charge in the case, running an ad in local papers demanding, “BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE!” The teens’ convictions were later vacated after they spent seven to 13 years in prison, and the city paid $41 million in a settlement to the teens. But Trump in October 2016 said he still believes they’re guilty, despite the DNA evidence to the contrary. 1991: A book by John O’Donnell, former president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump’s criticism of a black accountant: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” Trump at first denied the remarks, but later said in a 1997 Playboy interview that “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.” 1992: The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino had to pay a $200,000 fine because it transferred black and women dealers off tables to accommodate a big-time gambler’s prejudices. 1993: In congressional testimony, Trump said that some Native American reservations operating casinos shouldn’t be allowed because “they don’t look like Indians to me.” 2000: In opposition to a casino proposed by the St. Regis Mohawk tribe, which he saw as a financial threat to his casinos in Atlantic City, Trump secretly ran a series of ads suggesting the tribe had a “record of criminal activity [that] is well documented.” 2004: In season two of The Apprentice, Trump fired Kevin Allen, a black contestant, for being overeducated. “You’re an unbelievably talented guy in terms of education, and you haven’t done anything,” Trump said on the show. “At some point you have to say, ‘That’s enough.’” 2005: Trump publicly pitched what was essentially The Apprentice: White People vs. Black People. He said he “wasn’t particularly happy” with the most recent season of his show, so he was considering “an idea that is fairly controversial — creating a team of successful African Americans versus a team of successful whites. Whether people like that idea or not, it is somewhat reflective of our very vicious world.” 2010: In 2010, there was a huge national controversy over the “Ground Zero Mosque” — a proposal to build a Muslim community center in Lower Manhattan, near the site of the 9/11 attacks. Trump opposed the project, calling it “insensitive,” and offered to buy out one of the investors in the project. On The Late Show With David Letterman, Trump argued, referring to Muslims, “Well, somebody’s blowing us up. Somebody’s blowing up buildings, and somebody’s doing lots of bad stuff.” 2011: Trump played a big role in pushing false rumors that Obama — the country’s first black president — was not born in the US. He even sent investigators to Hawaii to look into Obama’s birth certificate. Obama later released his birth certificate, calling Trump a ”carnival barker.” (The research has found a strong correlation between “birtherism,” as this conspiracy theory is called, and racism.) Trump has reportedly continued pushing this conspiracy theory in private. 2011: While Trump suggested that Obama wasn’t born in the US, he also argued that maybe Obama wasn’t a good enough student to have gotten into Columbia or Harvard Law School, and demanded Obama release his university transcripts. Trump claimed, “I heard he was a terrible student. Terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” https://www.vox.com/2016/7/25/12270880/donald-trump-racist-racism-history More On Trump's racism: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/28/us/politics/donald-trump-housing-race.html https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/12/racism-and-donald-trump-a-common-thread-throughout-his-career-and-life 3 Likes |
