You can as well make your withdrawal before running your account, that’s if you do not want long explanations. It will be a situation of no face, no case. The ECO didn’t see it, so he/she can’t judge it. But if it happens that this money was withdrawn during the 6 months period, then you can show proof of bank transfer or withdrawals to that tune.

The reason for that is that ECOs judge every employed applicant from a one year timeframe. I’m sure most people do not know this. Irrespective of submitting a 6 months bank statement. Also, asides from that one year time frame, they try to analyze your opening balance from how long you have been working. That’s how they come to their conclusion. So if you have been working for one year, with a monthly pay of 300k and an expenditure of 100k, then you should be having about 2m or 2.4m thereabout. So imagine having an opening balance of 1.5m (probably because you have spent some lump sum from your 2m or 2.4m to solve an uncontrollable circumstance), then you run your account for another 6 months, and having a closing balance of 2.7m after deducting expenditure of 100k for each month, the ECO would not have any reason to question your bank account. Because he/she has analyzed your account from how long you have been working. That’s why they expect you to apply for visa one year after employment. Unless you want to explain to the ECO that you changed jobs, with proof such as employment letter from the previous company plus salary, it is best to always start your salary account on a fresh note. That is, if you got a new job paying you 500k monthly, you can start with a new bank account. So imagine earning 500k, subtracting 100k monthly expenditure, that leaves you with 4.8m at the end of one year. So if you apply for visa 2 months after the one year time frame, you should be having more than 5m in your account. Which is very straight forward. With this, you don’t need much documentation.

Let’s say for an instance, your opening balance is 2 million naira. You earn 300k per month and spend 100k on expenditure, leaving 200k. With this calculation, there is bound to be an upward progression in your account balance. But when your account remains stagnant, or your closing balance nearly equals your opening balance, then that can be seen as fake. Even in a case where your account falls below the opening balance, then there should be a concrete reason for that, and except you have sponsor, there would be no need for you to apply for a visa at that point because it shows your account is struggling.

A very avoidable error.. “the ECO doesn’t check withdrawals”, just shows how daft most agents are. As long as you supplied how much monthly expenditure you make, they always check to verify. It is based on the information you provide they use to access your application. Sometimes, I feel less information, but properly presented, speaks volume.

Also, having a huge opening balance is not the Koko, they check your inflow and outflow and see if it corresponds with your opening balance.. there has to be a rhythm.
