Romance / Re: Nigerian Men: Respect by Safia(f): 9:25am On Jan 21, 2009
Heat fusion you nailed the Nigerian men. This is the mind set or mentality I've encountered in a one-sided relationship. Of course, I did not put up with it. However, you've clearly identified it. Something not mentioned was that, in the beginning they pretend to love you, using the 3 words to generate feelings of love and once you give into them they change. Some say they go down and once the deed is done they don't do it. Most don't. The only people that would refute this behavior is the Nigerian men themselves, but women are getting wise to their games by sharing information. grin ~ Safia

Thanks for explaining about the dollar value of the nair vs dollar Olanajim and advising the use of an American calculator to transmit the nair into dollar value cheesy.

Although your story may be of interest and it is depressing to say the least. Maybe a story that inspires hope would be better, quickly device another Obinodmx. ~ Safia

Can anyone answer the question regarding how much 25,000 Naira is when exchanged to American dollars? Thank you in advance, Safia.

What up Seun  wink? Thanks for the encouragement!  I know I'm going to love writing the short story! I simply enjoy writing and the research involved.  The money would be a bonus because I love writing and often wrote articles for our college newspaper.  If I win I will post it on our web media site and send an article to our college press and local paper.
I know it would have been better to just google it, but because some our readers of Nairaland may not be familiar with the currency exchange; how much is 25,000 nair when exchanged into the American dollar
     Thank you again,
     Safia smiley
P.S.  I'm looking for a chat pal  wink any males (30-40) interested feel free to reply!

Hi Stephen:  Can I please pick your brain some more for minor details regarding the contest?  Can I send you my e-mail or would you mind sending me yours, now? In the event that I'm not able to reach you or you choose not to respond, thanks. Safia

Hello all members of Nairaland.  Let me introduce myself, I'm Susan Jefferson here;  a Black American female that has fallen in love with a country I've yet to lay my eyes upon, but some how I know that when my feet hits the ground in mother Africa, in particularly Nigeria, I will feel as though I've finally come home.

Regarding the contest: "Write a short story and win 25,000 Naira," I want to participate, however I wanted to make sure that this contest is open to all members of Nairaland, regardless of their country.  I hope that offense is not taken.  I just want to make sure of the rules before I began writing.  My story will some how combine the ideas and misconceptions of two people from different cultures that have . . .

I'll let you wonder about the rest of that (he he  wink), if I can participate I guarantee that the story will bring out emotions and even thoughts that are often unspoken and in a format that will be good and entertaining to say the least.

I await your responses,

Susan
