Education / My Transcript Is Poor by sahito(m): 2:18pm On Apr 06, 2020
I want to apply for masters degree in USA but I graduated with third class and I will need to send my school transcript to them for processing of the admission.
I don't know if I can get the admission with my low grade qualification whereby I would still need to spend some other money on the processing fee.
Pls your kind advice is needed.

Why did you graduate with 3rd class?

Were you a member of a dreaded secret cult in school?
I don't have time for your useless question...

Did you specify your grade during the application?

If yes, it means they saw it and still decided to give you a chance, you probably have some relevant skills and experience.

Practice really hard for the interview at this point, really really hard, for the behavioral interview practice your answers to common questions

Can we meet you?
What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on?
What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
What recent successes have you recorded?
How well do you work in a team?
What would you say is your greatest weakness?
Where do you see yourself in 5years? etcetera

If the role requires some form of experience, try to convince the interviewer why your experience is important to the role.

Add a lot of packaging in your presentation, for instance, don’t say I build websites for clients,
rather you’d say, I create software solutions tailored to meet client specification by being actively engaged in the entire software development lifecycle and using industry wide best practices

Packaging gives interviewers multiple orgasms.

Try not to overdo it though

Also be ready to be caught off guard as a third class graduate, the interviewer may ask you, why did you graduate with a third class?

Truth is almost no answer you can think of can be satisfying to the interviewer, especially if it’s not due to illness or the fact that you were self-sponsoring while at school, by working partime

If you simply found the course difficult, or you were distracted, fellowships, parties, unproductive relationships, or simply depression or other metal problem, know it right now that this won’t cut it.

It’s even difficult to convince interviewers that you spent your time on something equally productive, learning a skill, being part of a leadership forum at school etc.

The interviewer would tell you “but your primary commitment at school is to your studies, how do you let side activities take up bulk of your time”

I can’t really give you an answer on how to navigate through this question, so you have to think long and hard on how to navigate through, without deviating too far from the truth, which comes down to packaging one more

Good luck all the same.
Wish you lots of luck

THE BELOW IS UNRELATED BUT CAN COME IN HANDY AS FUTURE REFERENCE

If you get the job, be ready to work your ass off to prove your self. Forget flexing, forget woman. From your first job, relevant experience and career accomplishments are the most important till you retire.

Your grades will be relegated to the backstage at this point.

Dude, I graduated with a 3rd class too. I didn't even bother looking for a job after school cuz as soon as I got to 400 level and I realized that only miracle can give me a 2nd class, I quickly opted for an alternative by learning programing from an ICT college part time.
Now I have my own ICT company and I'm doing fine with my own house, a small car and a beautiful wife. My life could have gone south if I was looking for a job and waiting to get one before getting married or moving on with life
The sooner you stop looking for a white collar job with that certificate, the better cuz if you are not well connected, you won't get any for another 10 years.
Funny fact is, my company is quite popular around Ondo state yet I still used a little connection to win a contract from a tertiary institution last month.
Knowing the right people can go a long way to determine how far you go in life.
what course in programming did u go 4 bro?...cos I need to step up.
