BetaThings: Something that was acceptable 1400 years ago in Arabia or during the middle Ages may not look that good today. Perhaps we should not judge those people so harshly. But the question is why should we follow them? I agree that morality is relative and we should not judge the ancient people’s morality with our modern morality. Obviously we all cringe when we think of pedophilia and acknowledge that it is a shameful act of immorality. But during the time of Muhammad, and even today in some Islamic countries, marrying a 9-year-old child was not immoral. In fact Aisha was given to Muhammad with the consent of her parents and no one raised an eyebrow. The question is, if sleeping with a nine year old child was not deemed bad and therefore was not considered immoral, was it ok? Not everything that a society accepts as moral is right. Having sex with a minor may not have been immoral for Arabs 1400 years ago or in the middle Ages, but it is now, as it was then, unethical. Moralities are defined by circumstances, but ethics transcend time and space. They are rooted in logics. Morality can vary from culture to culture, from time to time and from person to person. If average people could not distinguish the right from the wrong, the messenger of God, if he were from God, should have known better. If His claim was true, if his knowledge was divine, if he was inspired, he should not have followed the tradition of their people but should have set the example. Muhammad followed the morality of his people. But that morality was ethically wrong. He claimed to be the best human and the last messenger of God. According to him God has said to people all he wanted to say in the Quran and his religion is complete. There is no more guidance to come and his examples and teachings are all we need to know and follow for eternity. Yet what he did and said, under the light of modern values prove to be very wrong. Really? You may still claim that all these hadithes are lies. People are free to say whatever they want. But truth is clear like the Sun for those who have eyes. No sane person would be aroused by a 9- year-old child. Decent people wince at the thought of this shameful act. Yet some Muslims deny them. The question is why so many followers of Muhammad would fabricate so many false hadithes about the age of Ayisha, which incidentally confirm each other? Why should anyone fabricate a lie about the age of Ayisha that would portray his Prophet as a pedophile? |

The sameshall apply to those who have not yet menstruated. As for pregnant women, their term shall end with their confinement. God will ease the hardship of the man who fears him. The surrounding context deals with the issue of the waiting period for divorce, and remarriage. The Quran is telling Muslims to wait for a certain period of time before making the divorce final or deciding to forego it. The Quran exhorts men to wait a period of three months in the case of women who either are no longer menstruating or haven’t even started their menstrual cycles . Since Muslim men are to wait 3 months before divorcing a prepubescent child it means that they have been engaging in sex with those children |

To hide the lascivious character of Muhammad , you all often mention that he married Safiyyah before he slept with her. But they forget to state that Muhammad did not follow the rule of waiting period ( three monthly periods) to sleep with Safiyyah. We shall now see how Muhammad had violated the rule of idda ( waiting period ) in marrying a woman. These rules are stipulated in the Qur'an thus; Widows of wait four months and ten days for re-marriage...2:234 Surah2.234 YUSUFALI: If any of you die and leave widows behind, they shall wait concerning themselves four months and ten days: When they have fulfilled their term, there is no blame on you if they dispose of themselves in a just and reasonable manner. And Allah is well acquainted with what ye do. Clearly, when Muhammad wanted to sleep or to have s3x with Safiyyah , she was a widow, technically, as Muhammad had already killed her husband. Therefore, as per the Qur'an, Muhammad had to wait at least four months and ten days before he could even touch her. But Muhammad did not at all observe this rule ; instead, he took Safiyyah , straight from the battlefield to his bed in the war camp. Having spent the night with her, Muhammad took her to another, safer location, stayed there for three days and consummated his marriage with Safiyyah. Muhammad selected Safiyyah because of her beauty, made her his wife and gave a banquet at the wedding; then he had sex with Saffiyah at Sa`d-AsSahba…(Sahih Bukhari 4.52.143) Ma'salam |
